@prixator me too. I appreciated a Steely Dan song on here and met my new friend who told me her fave was Shirley Horn...I had never heard of her. Now I just can't get enough. Never considered myself a jazz fan or really categorized my musical tastes in ANY way..but I've said and I mean it...I would love to go to sleep by and wake up to Shirley Horn.
I was just beginning to explore my interest in jazz vocals in the early 90's and I bought this CD almost entirely based on the front cover.
I just loved the pose - and with gloves!
I brought it home and listened - and listened again. The music was so beautiful and intoxicating and almost ethereal. There is no weak track on this album.
I believe it won an Grammy for arrangement..
I now own many more Shirley Horn CDs but this one will ALWAYS be my favourite.
I miss her so much. Beautiful singer and pianist.
