To answer my own question and for those who may be interested, I believe he did write this song, along with most of the songs that appear on the Good Old Boy at Heart album.

I wish he would re-release many of these songs, they are absolutely amazing! I love all his music but he seems to be getting away from using the violin in many of his recent songs. The violin in this song and "Where Did the Years go is awesome.

It's not hard to see why he was first picked up in Nashville as a songwriter! I wish he'd sing some of these oldies today... I miss the "good old boy" from the Tennessee mountain home.
