  • Slash's tone is the worst I've ever heard - how much is his equipment worth? and he can't dial in a decent tone, unless he likes to sound like he's playing through a 2" speaker.

Boz on the other hand - very musical and in control of his sound.

  • @boptillyoudrop

shutup fag...slash knows A LOT more than you about music and tone - he's the famous one

  • wATCH eric johnson play this song it will make slash look like a butt hole

  • slash sucks

  • No offense to you Mate......Vin! :) We can disagree but I still love you!

  • @DefLepLvr1

    happy new year m8 :)

i think jimi is rolling in his grace at this one :)

  • @paranorma1palace : Thanks Vin......Miss you my friend.....Probably....he ( Jimi ) must love Boz, but is covering his ears over Slash!!!!!!! LOL.....Hope you had a great holiday and Happy New Year to you, too.....:)

  • fucking noisy bastards, slash you fuckehead piece of crap

  • @paranorma1palace : At least I gave you a good laugh huh.....???? LMFAO

  • @paranorma1palace u mad?

  • @SCGFTW

just not enjoying hearing slash completely kill jimi's tune, proving he may be able to play rock, but is a tuneless cunt when it comes to blues :)

  • strange boz didnt need to gyrate and hop around...

  • what year is this ?

  • omg thats bad

  • this is pathetic

if you want to see a guitar player, don't watch this crap

  • to find stuff like this is amazing!! thank you, YouTube!!!

  • The fact that Boz is not in the Rock-n-Roll hall of fame is a disgrace to the hall. Boz is the most overlooked artist in rock-n-roll history. I don't get the criticism here. Both Boz and Slash were outstanding.

  • @BozMoments I know, these people here must be in an alternate universe.....LOL......or they are just so used to CRAP that they do not recognize a true legend such as Boz......Boz was OUTSTANDING here.........

  • Ok no offense to slash but Slash Ruined the beginning

  • @96jamerican

I like Slash but I agree. Thou to me it aint Slash but rather his guitar, the sound gets to gritty. Should be "cleaner". Other then the equipment, I think Slash is doing a pretty good work at it :P

  • @perkalov Thisis garbage!

  • Buddy Guy does a wicked job with this song. Look to your right for it

  • The rhythm section Steve Cropper and the SNL Fame guitarist, sorry can't remember his name, and on bass, is that Al Frankin?

  • Boz Scaggs is far superior to slash on the guitar! Slash looks like an idiot! Put on a shirt for goodness sake!! William Royce , job well done as usual! You sing the blues soooo well, heck you sing everything sooo well! Slash should have stayed home, Boz had this from the start!!!

  • Ugh, Slash is fucked over so hard by the terrible sound he as here for some reason. :(

  • Slash that Trash

  • ewwww.....bees in a can tone ...yuck....put your shirt on.... what a hot dog

  • definetely too much fuzz.. i mean, Jimi was fond of fuzz, but this is too much.

  • As far as Slash goes, sometimes it don't matter how much fuzz you use, or how loud you play, crap is crap. Probably just not good at improvising. Not everyone is. I think Boz's lead knocked Slashes in the dirt, and if you noticed, Slash walked all over the group trying to get one good lead back to redeem himself. He is good however at playing leads that he has layed out, practiced and memorized before hand. That is why his established song leads are good. That is fine. That is what sells.

  • @hooty29340 Not true at all.. he said 9 times out of 10 the first solo he plays on records is what stays there.

  • @freaknbigpanda Right. He has practiced it enough beforehand that he usually does not make a mistake when it becomes recording time. You may not have thought about it, but of course they practice and develope a song and it's parts before walking into a studio I'd imagine. Some groups, like the Beatles had their own recording studios, so they could practice there without it costing them money. Studio time is not cheap.

  • @hooty29340 Not from what I've heard him say, hell even watch the video where he demonstrates "american man" he plays it wrong the first 2 times and then says I don't know it note for note because it was improvised. With his solo record he said the demo's stayed the same and called it "demo love" because he left it the way he played it the first time through. People of that caliber of playing don't practice solo's for a record.. besides guitar virtuoso's because the want a certain effect.

  • @freaknbigpanda It has been really nice exchanging thoughts with you without either of us acting like kiddies. I appreciate that. Hugs on ya. You sound like a nice person.

  • I dont get why everyone is ripping on slash, he learned on blues...favorite guitarist is bb king. no hes not the best blues guitarist but he real damn good. if people didnt think slash was a blues guy bluesman wouldnt offer to jam with him...bozz scaggs gives a hell of a performance in this as well

  • slash is not a blues guy..but.....boz has a total feel for the blues..heres to the old man showin the young flash how its done. Thats right Im sayin it. Boz' solo was wayyyy better than slashs....

  • @baliscotsurf . I disagree. Slash seemed in the pocket and had a nice dirty tone, with feeling. Boz had a subdued ,clean predicable sound. Wouldnt say he`s got a better feel for the blues, they are just different. Boz has more of a BB King sound, and Slash had more of a Buddy Guy sound. If Jimi were there playing he`d have a dirty tone too.

  • Why does Slash have the weight of his guitar supported by his strap for only about 30 seconds of this song? :S If he cant play it that low why doesnt he just take it a few inches and stop all the fuss? It doesnt even look cool now its been overdone...

  • Ok to all the people saying that this is a bad performance from slash or something like that. well its not supposed to be the greatest solo ever, its slow blues its supposed to sound all slow and chilled out and stuff. so im trying to say for the type of song it is its great cuz i mean i couldnt do that well even on the slowest blues. (not yet at least)

  • @shel727 You dont know nothing about the blues... listen to SRV... playin to the slowest blues, he rocks the fuck outta any studio song from Slash... Slash didn't quite do it here..

  • not a great slash performance

  • -PERFECT..

  • -YEAH..

  • slash has the worst guitar sound i ever heard on this one

  • jimi would say: okay okay...uh huh...like this

  • Now everyone who is always complaining that Slash and Boz Scaggs don't work together enough can shut up!

  • His voice is great, kinda like B.B.King

  • This is pretty bad.... And compared to Jimi, this guy doesn't have half his character. This video shows it, especially.

  • @Jurassicprince by this guy r u referring to slash?

  • he was being lazy but cool lazy

  • Gotta Love This! Superb! This Is MUSIC!

  • Gotta Love This! Superb!

  • slash is a fuckin blues master but i admit this is pretty sloppy and too repetitive hes drunker than usual probably but he still did better than the other guy who seemed way too much focused on the notes that it sounded a bit robotic

  • @slimyesli

That's Boz Scaggs, who's been playing the blues when Slash was still crapping in a diaper. Of course he's focused on the notes. Do you even play guitar? What else would you focus on?

Slash needs a haircut and a shirt. And tone.

  • slash is a fuckin blues master but i admit this is pretty sloppy and too repetitive hes drunker than usual probably

  • Slash Rules bROo <3

  • what year is this?

  • 6:13 Lol

  • This is why Slash is my favorite, he really make you feel what he's playing!

  • chumpyfuggin' Slash as a drunkin' bofoon fucking up Hendrix. Boz the "singer: kicks his ass. what is slush playing through? Vodka and a big muff? He SUCKS>

  • if you wanna see a REAL guitarist play this check out Gary Moore's version or Paul Gilbert's version

  • much sadder version

  • Slash modified a little bit his sound to reach Jimi's fuzzy sound...

  • fuck youre deaft slash rocks he dont do the same of jimmy he do his red house

fuck all the thing slash sucks

  • What the hells with slash??

Is he drunk on the video???

there are other slash's videos that are better

    Sorry 4 my bad english

  • @Fabirocklive Boz Scaggs's playing with him. Slash is probably drunk or he took drugs (it's not a news...)

  • slash is the best shit ever

    jimi would be not proud

  • slash sucks he cant play blues

  • @werbeboard FAIL

  • Boz is incredible...I have loved his music for years...didn't know he was a blues man...

  • Don't like Slash's tone for this blues classic, but that's just taste of course.... Compare it to Boz' tone and perhpas you know what I mean...

  • Don't like his tone for this blues classic, but that's just taste of course....

  • slash drunk,..on drugs,...or clean,....WHATEVER,...THIS MAN IS A HERO!!!!

  • 6:29 The grandma sure does know how to play bass. XD

  • slash seems drunk.... AGAIN

  • i think slash's pretty drunk or high there.. i know he wouldn't play this way in total consciousness - and i know his style good enough..

  • 5 people's babies don't live there no more

  • slash guitar sound have a lot of intensity, sounds like a fart with musical degree, ja. Boz Scaggs has a fine blues sound and better scales. Slash must take a shower and comb his hair.

  • 8:54 ahah cropper's face: NO, SLASH! STOP!

  • Boz, your voice just sends this 60 yr. old heart just reelin. I love the scruff and the hair . Saw you in concert in Raleigh with the Dukes. You were the BEST!! I was mostly a Mc fan until that night. You've still got it going on. Be Proud!! The age only made you sexier and gave your voice a fuller sound. Have a 100 more yrs of success. Peace!

  • Slash is one of my favorites, but i have to agree, this is very average blues playing and his tone is awful...I do think he's improved alot in that arena since.

  • What a foul mouthed punk. Steve Cropper (Who, on his very worst day could play circles around Slash) is standing in the back line with a face goin' "WAIT A MINUTE... SOMETHIN'S WRONG!"

...and that "somethin" would be about 90% of Slash's note bends.

Bozz didn't look too impressed either - actually had to wake Slash up & show him how to play the blues between final verse.

They should have gotten a REAL blues guitarist like Gary Moore on lead guitar... 100X the player noisemaker Slash is.

  • @lastdaysguitar I agree dude, Slash has the ghermiest effects known to man in this number. Same lame notes every measure.. Boz did take him to school... Boz forgot more in 1976 than Slash will ever know about the Blues!!! Peace..

  • GREAT!!!!

  • haha slash is wearin' his flag. dig

  • Is Boz in te R&R Hall of Fame? If not, it is a crime. Boz has been writing, recording and singing some of the finest music ever produced. And his voice is still one of the greats in rock-n-roll history.

  • I like Slash but this was fucking awful. This is some of the worst blues I've ever heard, and some of the worst guitar playing I've heard in general

  • @ThorXMK I disagree.. I think Slash is playing some great Slash/Blues.. The tone is too thin/tinny though and he is too wasted to notice for one song...

  • @ThorXMK Then he finds his tone 1/2 way through and fucking rocks it the last couple minutes.. Just took a minute to find the tune and the tone cause he was so wasted..

  • @makedeleon you're being rude

  • @makedeleon Slash will only get better playing with caliber musicans like he did here !

  • jimi would be proud of scaggs because he understands jimi's esence music , and it's pure truth, not slash!

  • he is totally drunk here

  • Slash is a straight up bozo in this video, but overall he's a talented dude. It's ok to ruin one song, I guess.

  • slash doesnt get in the mood of this song, and his tone sucks.

  • @svidrigajlov i agree fully but he does play a few tasty licks here and there.

  • what year was this?

  • @rollandrock99

This was Sept 2 1995. Concert for the Rock And Hall Hall of Fame, at the Cleveland Municipal Stadium. It's on a double CD, you can search for it online. I bought this when it first came out.

  • i love slash!!!!

  • At least Boz sounds good...

  • jajajaaaaaaaaaa Slash is 100% drunk.

  • this video might not be the best, but i saw this performance when it happened (rock and roll hall of fame) and they KICKED ASS!!!!!

  • didn't likie it, slash sucked

  • Slash was there to sell tickets...

I hate it when promoters do that, but to have the mighty Jim Keltner on drums ???

    MMMMMmmmmmmm.....

  • Wow....that's poor. He should stop trying to play these absolute classics....doesn't have the feel for it

  • you= faggot.

    piece of shit

  • @shredr18 douchebag

  • learn another word besides douchebag. man fucker

  • HAHAHAAH. I love Slash, but he plays like crap here. I bet he had a full bottle of Jack Daniels inside him during this show.

  • brilliant backing band, obviously.

slash is drunk as fuck, gotta love it, smoking right into boz' face. he must have had a real bad booze breath.

  • Slash's tone is absolutely shitty. But hey! So was Jimmie's back in the day so i ha ve to admit that the whole show reminds me very much of the great six-string Maestro.

  • gotta love havin big crazy hair like that....n the cig n the mouth lol. thats live music for ya : )

  • i don't like the tone

  • i dont like too

  • Jimi would be proud!!!!!!!!!

  • the hosue band here is booker t and the mgs, you also have steve cropper up there as well who is truly underated at least by the general public that is for his chops

  • this was the highlight of the grand opening of the rock and roll hall of fame, that was show live on cinemax. this was the highlight of the show. boz certainly is no slash but he does hold his own here and gets a great chance to show his skill on a guitar as well

  • He really feels what he plays when he's drunk.

  • Great feeling slash !

The best after david gilmour !

  • how come this has so little views?

    it's a shame and a sin

  • I dig Slash but Boz Scaggs was more my speed.

    good all around

  • GREAT..............!

  • Boz is KING

  • He's doin him honor by not imitatin him...

  • @namar777

    Can it get better???

  • @namar777 You know, I agree !

  • Slash is an inch tall

  • Yet hes on stage and your not... lol.

  • When i first ran across this i said what an incredibly odd mix----But boy it works like a charm...Great stuff!!

  • Yep. I think the gear of Slash here is simple as hell.

He's using the neck pick up of his guitar without the tone. He also still using his eq like a boost signal and he also has a little bit of reverb just for more atmosphere. Of course... here he used the jubilee head 2555 ;)

  • a concert for the rock & roll hall of fame Sept 2, 1995

  • Awesome, thanks for uploading this...I waste hours of my life jamming to it!!!

..and Steve Cropper on rhythm guitar in the background?...how cool!

  • Pretty sure Steve Cropper has about 1000 clones, that guy is in EVERYTHING

  • when and what was this?

  • Sept. 2 1995 A concert for the rock & roll Hall of Fame

  • 0:30 slash takes the guitar up : )

  • oh my fuckin' god!!!

  • I'm constantly amazed how Slash can just turn his hand to any style of music. He has such an awesome talent.

  • OMG!! thanks alot, this is amazing!
