I just saw this movie, and WOW! I would not watch this movie for the longest, because I thought that it wouldn't be able to touch the original. Boy was I wrong!! I didn't know this was Will Smith's son was the actor in this until my friends and I talked about it afterward. Not only did he kill this role with athletics, and acting, but his comedic timing is on point.

It may not be accurate with the title, since they're in china and they're using kung fu instead of karate and the title has the word "Karate" in it, but I still think I'd like to see it. It's probably something Jackie Chan fans will like to see, though it's not like the original Karate Kid (more like the second one where everyone knows karate somehow). And that's why our generation thinks all asians know kungfu/karate

it's just annoying that any thing from karate to sushi in america gets written off as asian and therefore somehow chinese.

the movie hasn't been released yet so i don't know the deal, but right now it just looks like a racist mistake or a huge amount of undone research.
