Mewtwo was a cutie pie when he was a kit. Or pup. Reminded me so much of his "mother". Mannerisms and everything. He makes a good detective too. He would be your sword and shield in any situation. (Bad fanfiction reference, loved the series though) Bad guy getting away? Luca (my mewtwo's name) use psychic! Bad guys trying to shoot? Use barrier! Trying to kill your plant? Mewtwo tends to it behind your back! I've had way too much sugar...
You know, it's funny. When gen 2 came around and the Special split was introduced, Mewtwo took a huge hit to his total stats; his Special Defense was reduced from 154 to 90. If his Special Defense was still equal to his Special Attack as it was in gen 1, he would have a whopping 744 BST, higher than even Arceus.
@leafbarrett Alakazam would be just as overpowered. in fact, the REASON they did that was because psychics were overpowered, gen 2 was ALL about nerfing psychics. not to mention mewtwo is STILL better than arceus, even if his base stats aren't.
mewtwo in the actual ubers metagame is not a small contender, only arceus and kyogre can be more dangerous, but just by little (and considering one have shitloads of basestats, every type, the most powerful priority in the game and a plethora of possible sets, and the other the most used abbility in the game, and a 200 BP STAB rain boosted attack, it says a lot of mewtwo :P)

for those that never been able to beat R-2 of Pokemon Stadium or Pokemon Stadium 2 that'll want some help with that: i could give tips on the best pokemon & tactics and/or best moves or move combos that helped me do it: from my own pokemon team & their moves, my top picks on other pokemon i thought of using on my team that i didn't use but was heavly thinking about it, and tips on what moves to use, depending on the pokemon teams. again for those that'll like any tips or advice

This Mewtwo had moves that could crush almost any type of Pokemon you threw at it. I used a team full of Electric types. Cheap, but paralysis usually did the job.
Mewtwo can learn Psychic, Shadow Ball, Aura Sphere and Hidden Power, Dragon Type. So even if Arceus tag teamed him with Deoxys and Palkia, Mewtwo would take at least one of them down. Unless Deoxys was Speed Forme, then a Paralysis or Sleep inducing move would win the battle.
Or to make the anti Mewtwo brigade happy, a level 100 Magikarp could easily beat alevel 1 Mewtwo with the lowest possible stats. Now I won't get flamed by those morons for saying he's powerful.

Mewtwo still kicks Arceus' ass. Look at Mewtwo's moveset and SAtk, and you see why. Even if he's not defensive, Mewtwo can come in and sweep most Arceus forms aside.
I'm talking in an actual battle between the two. Mewtwo's Base Sp. Atk is about 30 points higher than Arceus' defenses. With that in consideration, Mewtwo is also faster. To top it off, he has moves that are super-effective against most of the 17 types.
I feel ashamed that I haven't been able to reach Mewtwo....after all these years, I haven't even beaten round 1 yet. What made me quit Pokemon in the first place was the sudden deletion of all my Pokemon on my Pokemon Yellow. Never again did I want to waste my time with this stupid series and waste all the money on Pokemon cards.
My quick comment on the Mewtwo vs Arceus. Arceus has higher stats overall and versatility with plates. Mewtwo however has 2 stats that are higher... SPattack and Speed. In fact Mewtwos SPattack is 34 points higher than arceus defense. Arceus has attack and Spattack only 30 points higher than mewtwos defense. Which means Mewtwo hits first and harder.
With the plates then there is no type that totally walls mewtwo. Aura sphere and psystrike cover all. The big difference is Recover. If judgement elemental can out damage the recover then Arceus wins. If Mewtwo with the recovers can take 10 judgements then Mewtwo wins. If Mewtwo kept "Amnesia" or learned "light screen" and used them first then I believe it swings to Mewtwo. However Arceus Perish Song calls it a draw after 3 turns.
lol u guise. Mewtwo is still statistically the 2nd most powerful pokemon after Arceus. 13 years of new Legendary's won't keep Mewtwo the Invincible down.

Oh my gosh, I was JUST telling my boyfriend about fighting Mewtwo on Pokemon Stadium. It was always such a challenge, I'm not sure I ever won...Then again, I wasn't a very strategical thinker when I was little. So I'm thinking I'm definitely hooking up the N64 during spring break and playing the hell out of Pokemon Stadium.
Why are people ripping on Small? Mewtwo can hold its own against Arceus, sure, but at the same time, Arceus can beat Mewtwo due to sheer unpredictability. It's like Mew on steroids
I still hate how they didn't use this in Heart Gold/Soul Silver. How hard would it be to clean it up a bit and put it in? No need to even bloody remix it! It's ALREADY orchestral!
In my opinion people like the earlier legendaries because pokemon actually gave them souls and personalities. I.E Mewtwo or Entei even. Now all legendaries do is just smash into each other(Dialga and Palkia). I still miss when pokemon had souls :(

And about the new Generation pokemon: I always say, if the original pokemon would be released now and the Gen. 5 Pokemon were released as the original ones, the same people who are putting down the new ones would be putting down pokemon like Pikachu and Charizard.

@Aeon014 no team rocket wanted mewtwo but it was created just as a clone not meant to be the worlds strongest pokemon but clones usually do turn out stronger than normal which is why cows are cloned today because the meat is more tender and milk tastes better but back to point they originally made it just as a clone then found out it was stronger so mewtwo blew it up and giovanni found mewtwo after and tried to look after him i think and make him more stronger which failed....

Mewtwo still kicks Arceus' ass. Look at Mewtwo's moveset and SAtk, and you see why. Even if he's not defensive, Mewtwo can come in and sweep most Arceus forms aside.

I'm talking in an actual battle between the two. Mewtwo's Base Sp. Atk is about 30 points higher than Arceus' defenses. With that in consideration, Mewtwo is also faster. To top it off, he has moves that are super-effective against most of the 17 types.

Palkia would just use Shadow Claw to beat Mewtwo , since Mewtwo has worse defenses.

I feel ashamed that I haven't been able to reach Mewtwo....after all these years, I haven't even beaten round 1 yet. What made me quit Pokemon in the first place was the sudden deletion of all my Pokemon on my Pokemon Yellow. Never again did I want to waste my time with this stupid series and waste all the money on Pokemon cards.

My quick comment on the Mewtwo vs Arceus. Arceus has higher stats overall and versatility with plates. Mewtwo however has 2 stats that are higher... SPattack and Speed. In fact Mewtwos SPattack is 34 points higher than arceus defense. Arceus has attack and Spattack only 30 points higher than mewtwos defense. Which means Mewtwo hits first and harder.

With the plates then there is no type that totally walls mewtwo. Aura sphere and psystrike cover all. The big difference is Recover. If judgement elemental can out damage the recover then Arceus wins. If Mewtwo with the recovers can take 10 judgements then Mewtwo wins. If Mewtwo kept "Amnesia" or learned "light screen" and used them first then I believe it swings to Mewtwo. However Arceus Perish Song calls it a draw after 3 turns.

lol u guise. Mewtwo is still statistically the 2nd most powerful pokemon after Arceus. 13 years of new Legendary's won't keep Mewtwo the Invincible down.

Oh my gosh, I was JUST telling my boyfriend about fighting Mewtwo on Pokemon Stadium. It was always such a challenge, I'm not sure I ever won...Then again, I wasn't a very strategical thinker when I was little. So I'm thinking I'm definitely hooking up the N64 during spring break and playing the hell out of Pokemon Stadium.

Why are people ripping on Small? Mewtwo can hold its own against Arceus, sure, but at the same time, Arceus can beat Mewtwo due to sheer unpredictability. It's like Mew on steroids

In my opinion people like the earlier legendaries because pokemon actually gave them souls and personalities. I.E Mewtwo or Entei even. Now all legendaries do is just smash into each other(Dialga and Palkia). I still miss when pokemon had souls :(

@dividebyzero100 Glad I'm not the only one who feel's like this. Unlike others who whine and complain how each new generation of pokemon keep getting weirder, I take each new generation in a good stride. I mean seriously there a few weird pokemon in generation one too.
And I don't understand why Arceus get's so much hate. He's pretty cool in my book, granted I like Mewtwo a little more but I'm not going be like one of those idiots who picks one pokemon and puts down others for not liking it.

@Aeon014 Thank you. Even though Mewtwo is theultimate nostalgic badass Pokemon, I still treat arceus as, well, the God of Pokemon. Besides, wasn't Mewtwo just a creation of team Rocket's, and not an official diety?
And about the new Generation pokemon: I always say, if the original pokemon would be released now and the Gen. 5 Pokemon were released as the original ones, the same people who are putting down the new ones would be putting down pokemon like Pikachu and Charizard.

@dividebyzero100 I can't remember exactly if Mewtwo was created for Team Rocket. It's been a while since I watched the movie. I do remember him being created by a group of scientists. Whether they worked for Team Rocket or not I can't remember.
And you do make a good assumption there my friend. But like you I love each generation of Pokemon. Hell it was because of the Gen. 4 Pokemon that got me back into series. Regardless I'm excited for B/W and no amount of nostalgia idiots can put me down.

The question I was asked was if Mewtwo was asked to be made for Team Rocket or if it was merely just a group of scientists who wanted to clone Mew in an attempt to create one of the worlds strongest Pokemon. Like I said it's been years since I last saw the movie so I couldn't remember if Mewtwo was created for Team Rocket or if Giovanni just got lucky in finding him.

@Aeon014 no team rocket wanted mewtwo but it was created just as a clone not meant to be the worlds strongest pokemon but clones usually do turn out stronger than normal which is why cows are cloned today because the meat is more tender and milk tastes better but back to point they originally made it just as a clone then found out it was stronger so mewtwo blew it up and giovanni found mewtwo after and tried to look after him i think and make him more stronger which failed....
