Sounds pretty damn good, hope to play like that someday, what amp and settings are u using,?Im new to jazz guitar so im very curious so i can at least get a decent jazz tone for starters.Thank you
This is one of the most helpful lessons I've come across. Easy, and nice sounding at the same time. I keep looking for chordal playing material but I find only either a) dull sounding excercises or b) stuff that is very complex, like Joe Pass transcriptions. I'm at the stage where i know basic chord shapes but want to figure out more interesting ways around the fretboard, without going way overboard. I found the ideas in this lesson to be easy to utilize. Any suggestions for similar stuff?
@jdean9 You could have a look at "creative comping concepts for jazz guitar" by mark boling. It's primary focus (as the title states) is on comping, but it is in such a manner that you can use the ideas etc to make your melody playing more interesting. A lot on quartal harmony (extremely useful in a slightly more modern jazz setting). Should also check out bireli lagrene's version of "stella" from the "standards" 1992 album. In my opinion, a very tasty rendition of stella : )
Your website is so awesome, thank you for sharing all your knowledge. I have been playing for 18 years but am new to jazz guitar and this is helping me a ton. I think I'll cancel my guitar lessons and donate to you instead...
barak : It is very cool and a simple way to start playing the satandard melodies, this way of playing the melody could be valid for like a trio format.
Wow, chord-melody style is probably one of the most difficult to master. It takes years and years of REAL hard work on both theory and practice. You make it look like a piece of cake! BTW, your web-site is awesome! Keep your lessons coming!
Hi Dirk , nice lesson and fine presentation, should it not the camera was not nice front centering your playing of left hand . But it's small detail anyway .Thanks for this lesson and the tablature of the chords ... I always learned most by playing together with a melody so this is really wonderful help.Nice "add and aid" to your site .
