  • HiddenBlossom: Try the Ralph Vaughan Williams's 'Six Studies in English Folk Song' for solo instrument and piano accompaniment - there are various version on Youtube but I'm sure you'll find one for violin or viola.

  • performing this for my grade 7 violin :) makes me actually want to practice :)

  • Thx you for uploading

Pastorale is one of the Grade 7 exam piece for this year

    thx

  • Ralph Vaughan Williams is by far one of my favorite composers. Another composer on the same avenue is Gerald Finzi. His Introit for Violin and Small Orchestra is divine. Also he wrote a very beautiful string orchestra romance in E - flat. Many overlook these English Instrumental works and just concentrate on the songs, but its some of the best stuff out there.

  • I love this song, I play it in the violin, is so relaxing, so grateful and peaceful to hear that. Thank for having upload it :D

  • HiddenBlossum, I suggest you try VW's "In the Fen Country" for it's sheer beauty of colour combinations, and the Tallis Fantasia, also by this same great composer. I am an Australian, but feel so deeply the pastoral wonder of VW's music. May your Classical adventure never end!

  • This is so invigorating for the soul. I find it tremendously helpful to listen to this while studying. Does anyone recommend/know more music like this? :] I'm new to classical music.

  • @HiddenBlossum Mozart's K299, Mahler's Adagietto and above all Debussy!

  • @Epogdous Thanks! I love all of them so far ^-^

  • @Epogdous don't forget Ravel!! Impressionists ftw!

  • @HiddenBlossumA great deal of Vaughan Williams' music has this pastoral feel. You would probably enjoy most of his chamber music.

  • @HiddenBlossum When you want to stop reading for a few minutes and clear your head, try the Gustav Holst military suites in F and G. Much the same English folk themes, but more lively and energizing. Great walking music, too.

  • Isn't the pastorale played first here?

  • @wotsherface ...#$*!... You're right. I noticed (too late) that iMovie imports audio files in the same order as you select them before drag the entire set on regardless of file names, markers, etc. Thank you for letting me know. I tried to fix this mess. ^^'

  • Brilliant work.Much overlooked.
