what makes this fight hardmode?

when you press the big red button in the back of the room that says "do not push" puts a time limit on the fight as well as all the fires you see, additional fight mechanics come into play as well. such as water globes that explode and do damage and a knockback to people around them but puts out fires and extinguisher bots that will knock people around if they are hit by the water they are spraying.
