Everone has to agree... The Toshiba UI lags and sucks soo much! It would be soo much more better if it came with Touchflo 3D. Shame its only for HTC devices...  :(

mmm, I've got an iPhone 2g and I like it but it's expensive to update to new stuff (apps etc...) and 3g for me just isn't worth it. I hear there's a 4g hi-def one on the horizon but I'd look at a rival from Toshiba, Samsung or Nokia if it was truly better. This Toshiba looks as close to an iPhone yet. 2 of my friends just had that new Nokia 5800 and they both had iphones and prefered the iphone to the nokia (apart from bluetoothing music to wireless speakers). My contracts up, what phone to get?

Well, to give you a quick breakdown,

Touch HD has a 5mp Camera, X1 has 3.15

Touch HD has a Proximity sensor, X1 doesn't,

Touch HD has an accelerometer, X1 doesn't.

Screen size is 0.8 inches bigger on the X1 (personal preference), X1 has a slide out KB, touch HD doesn't).

finally the Touch HD has more RAM, only by a few meg but it makes the difference in the speed of the device when more than 1 program is open. Also, for the record, I'm not Dissing the X1 at all, my girlfriend has one and I find it quite nice to use, The HD is just better :)

On the other hand the 5mb camera may be something to harp about as well as the processor. But lack of tactile keyboard is a serious setback ... browsing texting and half your screen is gone due to the virtual keyboard. That was one of the reasons why I returned my hd. Another thing to its kinda big, because the hd had a descent size and for this to be bigger i doubt I would want to have that to my head it would be a brick.

Is that it? Proximity sensor to allow the phone to know when its near your ear or something. Accelerometer so you can turn the phone and it changes landscape? And a 5mb camera without flash? The accelor is a gimmick imo, i had an iphone and couldnt stand if i was using it in bed it would rotate all over the place ... besides no real solid function other than screen rotation. prox sensor is ok ... but I have a keyboard with that option built in and disabled it another gimmick.

Why would you not put Android on it? Anything is better than Windows mobile and adding a GUI on top of it is like trying to market a pile of shit covered in a thin candy shell.

Because WM works with active sync.. active sync works with most businesses that use exchange servers and dont use the HIGHLY insecure (and highly susceptible to DNS attacks) imap connections.

Also much better than iphone because WM can do more than 1 thing at once. And with a good processor (dual core) and alotta ram, this thing is awesome!

Are you retarded? Any service that runs over the net is susceptible to DNS attacks including active sync. imap isn't insecure, it's encrypted.

And there's no point in having multitasking if the battery life only lasts 2 hours, which it does on all windows mobile phones.

um no not really and especially if you take off ping response. and the imap port is very suceptible to being hung up rather that the html port. oopz that's right im an it admin and you're a dumbass!

Also, read up on why imap is not used by corps. or are you a mactard that doesn't believe in reality. and most other phones multisync for messaging purposes that's why iphone fails miserably with active sync.

they need to make the icons bigger, ive had touchscreen phones with really small icons before and they're frustrating. if they want to compete with the iphone they have to make them bigger.

Um nice thing about Windows Mobile... there are heaps of programs to change the interface to WHATEVER you want. Not so with the iphone.

you obviously no nothing of the iphone and I do actually own one. The iphone's UI can be changed you just have to jailbreak it, which is quite easy and besides the iphone's UI is already smooth and easy to use. Also there are heaps of programs to change iphone's interface aswell.

Um yeah I've had one jailbroken and messing around the the UI usually gets you some errors...eventually (thats called experience)

The "smooth" IU is apples redrawing that basically snaps the last photo and has it slide in. Its a gimmick that makes the apps appear to be quick and a good one at that.

But the iphone basically does 2 1/2 things are once... thats why it appears so quick. WM is quick too with only a couple apps running.

actually messing with the Ui dosen't get you errors if you know what your doing and with the latest up dated jailbroken operating system the errors are highly unlikely, but you probly are right on the "smooth" UI thing, but I still love it!!
