That's because the damage was already done. Clearly the cop KNEW his goose was cooked . . . Big Time. Therefore, he had a decision to make. He could make his situation worse by trying to cover things up more than he already did (by insisting the camera operator shut it off and go away), or he could go with it (now that he knew the camera caught the ENTIRE incident).
That's the ONLY reason the cop suddenly became *nice*.

I believe both the cop just happend to be drving by, and the cameraman was across the street, and both saw the robbery. This was what took place soon after.

He could make his situation worse by trying to cover things up more than he already did (by insisting the camera operator shut it off and go away), or he could go with it (now that he knew the camera caught the ENTIRE incident).

"I can't" was the right response, it was not being a pussy. Some people are just too decent to be mentally capable of stopping recording just because a person in authority tells them to.
As for the cop (who I presume was waiting for backup or medical help), I can't see how he could have handled it more appropriately in the end... established whether it was evidence and as you can see, from the fact that it's on YouTube, he didn't try to cover it up, break his camera and kick him in the face.

@pianoman9112001 No this was real. It took place in Santa Ana. I live a couple cities over. The man who was hit had just stabbed and robbed someone walking down the street. I believe both the cop just happend to be drving by, and the cameraman was across the street, and both saw the robbery. This was what took place soon after.
