I'm new to the Louisville area but when I visited Cave Hill recently, it reminded me lovingly of my home in Cincinnati. Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati is a whole lot larger and yet, Cave Hill had monuments that were so much more interesting and unique. It's great to know that I have a whole new cemetery to explore and enjoy when the weather turns warm in the spring!
I love the monument for Mrs.Twist! She was obviously loved a whole lot for a monument of that magnitude to be built in her memory....unbelievable! I was there in 1983/84 and it was brand new....the bronze likeness of her had either not yet "patina-ed" or it was getting regular cleanings, because when the sun hit it, the gleam would literally blind you!
It boggles the mind why so many folks click on the spam-infested, idiot-laden featured vids when with a little searching they'll stumble upon a gem like this. Outstanding video!
@ktykatbrat This was my first time here. We drove til we saw something neat and then stopped to take a picture, next time we'll walk more and read the smaller stones.
very impressive ! real works if art but I guess only for the very rich. where the normal white stones for the military ? I love the older ones ! they somehow have a lot of character ! and it was nice to see Col. Harland sanders !!! take care !!!
There are buildings with urn nooks that are not too pricey if your cremated. And there are "scattering gardens" which are free but kinda creepy cause of the geese waiting around wanting to be fed.

I really liked this and you must have really walked the grounds. I know where all these are and it's quite a traipse. Good work.

Pretty amazing to see how people deal with their mortality.

@mobiltec Yeah and I guess in the case of some of these stones you really can take your money with you.

The white stones are from the civil war and the spanish american war.
It is 300 acres, and dates from 1848 the year my family came to America.

Yes, the richest of families in Kentucky are here. Some of the graves have endowments.
