Its cool as hell but 14k is rediculous. I built one of these out of plywood, a garbage bag and a leaf blower once. not as fancy but still. If they droped the price they would make way more money because it could actualy be within anyones price ranges
@Siriuseder good point about pricing which means it'll have to be manufactured in large quantities. That said, I don't think this product quite competes with a cardboard project. I've seen one it's quite impressive.
You'd have to be a pretty sad person to complain that someone else can afford to buy something just to have fun with. Who the hell cares if you think it's not worth the money? He wanted one, had the money to buy one, and did.
$14, 500 for a gas powered leaf blower with a pretty shell that can take you to the store and back is pretty dang impractical. You could spend that on two motorcycles that would he higher quality, use less gas and take you a couple hundred time further.
Now if they made this rechargeable electric, dropped the cost to 2K and figured out how to give it a longer range it might have a purpose. For now it's just a poor waste of resources.
Last I checked airboards are hand made/assembled and produced in small quantity. Perhapse make one or ten of these yourself and once done let us all know what you would sell one for : ) Airboard uses innovative propulsion technology and is a blast to ride. A riding lawn mower or motorcycles unless they hover don't quite match up. On the subject of price, let's just bash all vehicles costing more than 25k while we're at it - wouldn't buying real estate in utah be a wiser move?
Well put...why buy a harley when you can buy a small parcel in utah instead! What's all the fuss about having fun any ways! Why buy top end laptops or vehicles when a 5 year old laptop and a 20 year old sedan would do the job?
You can get a new Airboard for less than $14k (or much less for quantity orders)or get a used one for under $6k depending on availability (2 units under 6k sold on ebay last year), or lease one for custom corporate branding. ReallyCoolToys (dot) com has the best pricing on Airboards in the U.S.
