Sorry to be awkwardly pessimistic, I have been left with a slight suspension that you knew the book page as you knew the number which was to come out by counting cards. Basically, could you repeat the trick by selecting the card in a more random manner... then I will be truly astounded, thanks
@goozie313 You're not the first person to say that and I can sort of see why people would think that. I've done it live quite a few times, the only reason I put it like this, is that it makes it more interactive. While performing live, I don't use cards, that was just so people don't think I opened to a page that I already knew or something along those lines.
For all i know you memorized two pages, barely. I can't be sure about the card dealing, you may have controled it somehow. Especially when i see that your name is "illusionmagic".
@ibreakkidslegs Um, the cards hardly matter. :S I used them in the video just so that people were sure that I wasn't opening to a pre decided page number.
b) it's not clear that you shuffled the 2 halves into each other entirely, nor is it clear that you didn't keep a certain cut in the deck after the shuffle
c) at 1:28 and 4:13 you cut the deck after the weak shuffle, possibly bringing the pre-ordered portion to the top
If you want to convince me, do this again but spread the cards all over the place like they do at Vegas poker tables after a hand is over.
@illusionmagic19 You can't possibly be so naive. If the cards are marked, then you would be able to pick a pre-determined page. Therefore you would only have to memorize the first couple of sentences of that page in order to produce this video.
Please stop patronizing me; I'm not so stupid that I would actually believe that you don't see why a healthy shuffle is important or why marked cards could aid you in fooling others into thinking that you memorized the entire book.
@ibreakkidslegs Okay "sir" let me get this straight, I SUCK at card magic. Can't even do a decent double lift or a pass. Like I said, I'll make a live performance video just for you, where the person can open the book anywhere he or she wants. I knew it, there would be a "card shark" like you who would feel a need to make a memory routine a card trick.
@illusionmagic19 I am no card shark, I am just familiar with the type of trickery that's possible from the likes of Derren Brown. No need for a live show; a simple video will suffice.
Absolutely brilliant video man, I know the kind of dedication it takes to preform a memory stunt of that magnitude. So far I've only ventured to memorize a deck and essays for exams! I will memorize a book in the future but I haven't a clue of which one. I was thinking of the bible as it's the world's most recognisable book but the language is kind of difficult.
Your memory palace must be gigantic, keep up the good work!
@TheClassyCoconut Thanks a ton for that :) And I used Harry Potter 5 because the world's bestseller. Bible's a close second but the language is too hard. Thanks again :)
@kentrel2 Because I wanted to make it an interactive video so that people could see that I wasnt just reading anything. and the Order of the Pheonix was the world's best seller! ;)

As a race we would progress further if we shared knowledge. I'd rather have a ridiculous amount of respect than to be the richest Douchebag

That's impressive but why aren't you giving away the secrets? I want to know how to do the same! I didn't go and get my copy of the book for nothing!

why don't you do a proper shuffle before dealing out the cards?
ibreakkidslegs 9 months ago
@ibreakkidslegs Um, the cards hardly matter. :S I used them in the video just so that people were sure that I wasn't opening to a pre decided page number.
illusionmagic19 9 months ago
@illusionmagic19 The cards matter greatly. Without properly shuffling, you could have easily set up the deck so as to yield particular pages.
ibreakkidslegs 9 months ago
@ibreakkidslegs Um if it matters so much, please notice that i shuffle the cards in the beginning and after the first page is selected.
illusionmagic19 9 months ago
@illusionmagic19 I saw you do that, but:
a) they were somewhat weak shuffles
b) it's not clear that you shuffled the 2 halves into each other entirely, nor is it clear that you didn't keep a certain cut in the deck after the shuffle
c) at 1:28 and 4:13 you cut the deck after the weak shuffle, possibly bringing the pre-ordered portion to the top

@ibreakkidslegs I'll make a live video with spectators without using cards soon :) I made this one so that it was interactive.
illusionmagic19 9 months ago
@illusionmagic19 And when you select the 3 cards, film it closely so that we can see that the backs are not uniquely marked.
ibreakkidslegs 9 months ago
@ibreakkidslegs Im sorry, but thats just bizzare. I cant see how marked cards will help me in knowing what lies on what page number in the book.
