  • He forgot graffiti

  • But I still don't understand why people do it. Why assume I 'copy & paste big words', etc? Some people are educated, others are just good at languages. It's no better to make equally outlandish counter accusations when most must see at least some validity in what I said initially. Still there are comments about having no friends, etc - personal attacks. The only real solution is to not engage at all, but I find it quite interesting. If anyone has any fascinating response, feel free to message.

  • I never looked back at this, as I usually don't. I suppose you could suggest that the level of vehemence directed at my pretty light-hearted comment does little but support my admittedly somewhat needless comment I rarely comment on youtube, as can be seen fairly easily from my account. It seems a pointless exercise as it rarely functions as a worthwhile forum for any debate.Nor do I put much of interest on my account because it's not something I need to do. The videos on there had a reason.

  • Was that captain of the rant who left the open mic event early?

  • I agreed with all of the points? maybe I'm the only one

  • Thou shalt never question Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip.

  • may i have ..sth like script or subtitles

    i'm weaking listening.

  • I BEATBOX =]

  • Ha ha Dan Le Sac said the bomb

  • you're on my playlist . Its me birthday

    al

  • Youtube is brilliant. An anthropologist's dream. Every single thread is filled with drivel, statements of dubious 'fact', verbal attacks at people the attacker had never met over the most inane and irrelevent things.. It's quality. Also a damning indictment on humanity, but hey, it's not the only indicator to suggest that 99% of people are moronic cretins.

  • Cheers Rob. I like a good, thought-provoking, objective comment every now & again. Raises the tone...

  • @KaiserSaucy it would if it wasn't some pseudo-intellectual faecal smearing and self loving dickhead who can cut and paste big words off other sites. Fucking idiot.

If he's so intellectual, then why is he tooling about on youtube? Surely a person of such vehement articulation would have his own site with his perceived 1% friends.

I wish he would fuck off instead of stealing our air.

  • I cannot believe I'm reading a sensible comment on YouTube.

  • @robkinder Hey, I'm with you, up until the closing bit. It may be that moronic cretins are the most likely to comment, and the prevalence of this idiocy pushes the people who have something coherent to say either to the margins or out of the room completely.

Also, since youtube has started a comment rating system, the quality of the most visible comments has increased dramatically.

  • @robkinder strange that you should make sweeping generalisations and specious platitudes on here. Surely you should be on some pseudo-intellectual site with others skilled in saying nothing in 7 lines. Are you suggesting your a 1%er??

You hideously onanistic narcisstic font of banal and trivial statements. It must be fun having no friends and being SO clever, as you obviously think you are. The best bit of you soaked through your mothers mattress...

  • @robkinder

Oh, come off it. You've proposed exactly zero that has any value to anyone and the majority of your videos are about lighting, with one about lightning. It's easy to applaud misanthropy, far more difficult to come up with realistic methods of furthering mankind (such as not buying Nestlé or Coca Cola products).

  • aww Dan is so cute.

  • the radio dj shouldn't talk over them

  • haha explain the four elements lol

  • DJ'ing

    MC'ing

    Breaking.

    Graffiti.

  • ... that wasnt a question..

i know what the four elements are.. i was laughing at them. because they didnt.

  • they are dudes awsum

  • I totally agree with the "Pheonix" comment!

  • LOL

    Milky Bar Scroob :3

  • WHY IS THIS DJ DOING HIS JOB IF HE DOESNT KNOW WHO CRASS ARE?!

    WHAT THE FECKING FUCK.

    grr.

  • You obviously love that he hasn't heard of Crass because you like that you're one of the "cool kids" who has. Does my head in when people make comments like this

    x

  • Dude, come on, its Crass! = Legendary!!

  • Crass? Just a band! ^^

  • Yea man, it's got nothing to do with looking cool for knowing who crass are. I wouldn't think anyone was cool for knowing who crass are, I'd just be suspicious if they were supposed to know a lot about music (i.e. if they were a dj) and didn't know who crass were.

  • i totally agree. you'd think that to be a RADIO DJ that plays music FOR A LIVING would have at least some knowledge of bands other than what songs are in the top 40 this week. and @ Bunkie, knowing who Crass are does not make you a cool kid. ask any cool kid you know and i bet you at least 9 out of 10 times they will say they dont know who Crass are.

  • Maybe the DJ was just asking questions made up by other people or something... Just because he asked that doesn't mean he personally doesn't know who Crass are.

  • Not *maybe*. The DJ literally says that these are questions from the people, at 0:55

  • There we go then.

  • It's not the DJ's job as interviewer to "know" all the cool kid bands like Crass and other shitty punk bands. His job as interviewer is to ask questions that his AUDIENCE might want to know the answers too.

Ironically, your own BS rant about "cool kids" is the answer to your own idiotic statement. He probably DOES know who Crass is, but he knows his nitwit listeners DON'T so he asks the question. Die under the wheel of a bus, please.

  • why are you trying to restart an argument that ended five months ago?

  • If you don't want to argue about it why are you opening your yap again? now PISS OFF.

  • saw these guys in Toronto and they were cool like hanging out with the fans and signing autographs. Not to mention the music was kick ass!

  • Who are crass?

    WHAT THE MOTHER FUCK

  • dude my english teacher is cool for letting us listen i like this song now

  • lol his voice is like lou from little britain :-D

  • Nirvana weren't innovative.

  • also...end of the day

    JUST A BAND

  • @pathammond Of course they weren't. However, they DID manage to not only appeal to an entire generation of underachievers, but solidify God-like status among socially-awkward teenagers in high schools across the world. Just look at all those screeching fan girls that weren't even alive when Kurt Cobain took the easy way out, claiming him as their musical savior. Little do they know, it's shit like that which led him to wash his brain out with buckshot.

  • @pathammond true, but they listened to the Pixies, who were...

  • @pathammond not as innovative as many bands, but alternative rock would be nowhere without them

  • /watch?v=r8zi7vcnjVc

'Tommy C' by Dan & Scroobius Pip.

  • ha at 4.24,the dj calls the sing thou shalt not kill!

  • Crass are amazing! :)

    fuck anyone who says otherwise!

  • well following my comment, you know what you can do then dont you mate? :)

  • cue discussion : i dont care what you think lol

  • well actually youve just made yourself look incredibly stupid seeing as, if you were a good critique of music you would realise, no music can be classified as good or bad, as music is based purely on peoples opinions and peoples opinions differ greatly.

  • Nice interview.

  • legends!!! i had a ten minute talk with them they are soooooo sound!!!!!!

  • "Who were Crass"? Fookin' 'ell...The music was pretty shite, but blimey, they invented DIY covers.

Mind you, last time I saw Steve Ignorant he was doing a Punch & Judy show in Brighton.

    He was pretty good.

  • HAHAHAHAHAH.

    well done.

    x

  • i heard this thanx to kas78B :)

    cos he's kl

yes, yes it is an awesome song

  • do you WANT us to kill people LOLZ i love this song!!! people can be silly taking things true..lolz...this song is awesome and scroobius is amazing poet and an amazing guy <3 awesome

  • This DJ is asking some pretty lame questions!

  • Two years ago, I walked into a coffee shop and Radiohead was playing on the stereo. So I say aloud, "Is this Radiohead? Radiohead SUCKS! So overrated! 'Ohh, waa waa! people are so impersonal -- buy our records and make us rich while I cry about airports!'" Every hipster their was stunned, and one guy was about to punch me until I said I was kidding. People take their love of bands WAY too seriously. It's like a religion -- which is why this song is so bang on. ...Just a band, people.

  • how the fuck did the DJ not know who Crass was? I mean, wikipedia before the interview seriously.

  • scroobius snack!!

hahahaha that dj is a fool

  • An awesome song and great to hear them talk about it.

    Thanks for posting this dude!

    =)

  • the DJ says the name of the tune wrong... "thall shalt not kill" .. wank

  • The reason he drinks so much water in this clip, is cause he is watering the chia pet around his face, lol ,,, just kidding, I love these guys !!! ;)

  • what's wrong with his chia pet? I mean beard? :)

  • I said just kidding!!! I love these guys!!! And I love beards, my dad has one !!!

  • damn i wish he would shave. so hot.

  • Stephen Fry: The Secret Life of the Manic-Depressive

  • "Who are Crass?"

    *slaps*

This is in the UK, no less. That just makes it even more sad.

  • Not gonna keep going over this - check page 4 of these Comments.

  • *agrees

    **puts head on desk

  • Very nice chaps :)

  • interesting guys, good for them

  • thou shalt not make repetitive generic music

thou shalt not make repetitive generic music

thou shalt not make repetitive generic music

thou shalt not make repetitive generic music

  • ben you didn't comment.

  • just listening to scroobius talk sounds good

  • What a genius.

  • saw them at reading 07 they were unbeleiveable

    keep it up booys

  • thou shalt not dress like an emo

  • awesome message and song... though one big problem: the unconscious mind cannot process negation, so every message comes through as thou shalt etc instead of thou shalt not, also explains why the ten commandments weren't worth much throughout history.

  • so apply your conscious mind to it.

Get into the habit of doign that to everything and you'll find the world a vastly different place.

  • you're an idiot.

  • Massive Massive Massive

  • Just ONE MASSIVE MASSIVE!!!!!

  • fresh thinking i love it

  • Scroobius Pip is a wise man

  • how ever many peeps don't, i however do "get it"!!

  • do you want us to kill people? xD

  • Crass were (just) a band from Brum who followed a kind of post-RaR-radical-swp ethic. they seemed to enjoy pissing off anyone in authority (s'wotsnew?). their music was fairly dull & the photocopied agit-prop record 'sleeves' were dire, bet scroob wishes he'd not mentioned them now...

  • i actually follow your words in the song. its a new religion scroobism

  • Junkeman; beneaththepavement...

"Crass - just an anarchist punkrock band which originated as a commune, lived together and then made music, being individually successful artists in different media, having records banned, giving away anti-war records for free, being investigated by MI5 and FBI, whilst advocating and taking part in direct action"

Even Frank couldn't get the phrasing right. Lighten up?

  • remember "think for yourselves"...

  • also got a flexi satirising marriage sent out for free in a teen girl magazine, were blacklisted by the government, published books, used video-art. need i go on? look them up, the reading is sometimes better than listening to them! hee hee, just a band.

  • Nice. Well put. Cheers.

  • yeah, i know i'll get feedback for this, but...CRASS were a commune, lived together and then made music, are individually successful artists in different media, had records banned, gave away anti-war records for free, investigated by MI5 and FBI, advocated and took part in direct action

  • HURRAH

  • Thanks for this upload. I fell in love with the song instantly upon hearing it. I was rather surprised to find that people took it so seriously and literally. It's kinda nice to hear the thoughts behind it.

  • This was in the top ten songs requested friday on a radio staiton in Austin, TX.

  • "Who are Crass?" FFS.

  • Crass was an anarchist punkrock band

  • I love the song, but the interviewer saying things like "You have really tapped into the popular zeitgeist..." just seems really out of place. You'd think by the tone of the video that the band would have walked out and decked the gibbering excited moron on the way.

  • Yeah, but surely can't you see from the interview that they're just a couple of guys having a laugh who can't believe all the fuss that's sprung up? - not in fact the serious shoe-gazing, politically active, righteous brothers that people want/expect them to be..? Sorry if I come across as a moron but we find that's the best way of getting artists to open up. Better me than them I always think.

  • Ok ok, if it works then go for it, but please there should still be a law against using the word Zeitgeist :)

  • Why? Just because you don't know what it means?

  • These guys are brilliant.

  • First line from Wikipedia - Crass was an influential English anarchist punk rock band. I understand they promoted anarchy but that doesn't really alter the fact that they were just a band. *shrug*

  • More, Dude,

  • But they ARE just a band. ^_^

  • "Crass, who are they?!"

Fucking hell, the tune is about lightweight twats like this DJ.

  • Well Kiss isn't exactly the kind of station to play any of those bands really.

  • I'm sorry but the twat should have some grasp of musical history, if not for any other reason than that the squat/anarcho scene that crass existed in had a huge part to play in the birth of the rave movement that his station started with, way before shite like the ministry of sound existed.

  • Easy Pob. I do have a passing knowledge of Crass & have plenty grasp on musical history thanks. The whole point of this interview was that when we knew they were coming in I went to the Comments on their vid on here & just asked Pip & Dan the questions that people seemed the most confused/troubled/irate about. As Pinhead points out Kiss does not really play, well, many of the bands Pip namechecks so I thought that particularly Crass would be 1 our listeners might well be in the dark over.

  • snore. your boring everyone.

  • Nestle fuck the world over, powdered milk to third world mums, fucks the babies up.

  • And Nestle been doing it for what(?) thirty years or so? Sickening motherfu**ers.

  • Also - surely 'Scroobius Pip & Dan le Sac' - you know, reading left to right.

Unless *that's* an islamic reference, there...

  • the beatles - just a band - oasis - just a band - the next big thing - just a band.

    Joss Whedon, though....

  • They are geniuses and I wish them all the success in the world, as long as they keep making fantastic song like this one.

  • god i hate how dan le sac stutters so much.

    i can't understand a damn thing.

    his accent doesn't help either.

  • No Coke, Nestle-Pepsi products OK though?

  • From a political standpoint, Coke company has been accused of stealing fresh water from developing countries and other not-so-humanitarian things. Don't know about nestle. Pepsi seems fair game though, haven't heard dirt on them. Don't know if his statement had anything to do with those accusations, but it's likely indeed.

  • en<dot>wikipedia<dot>org<slash>wiki<slash>Pepsi#Criticisms-yeah, yeah, I know it's wikipedia.

  • You tube no longer allows you to reply with links...

  • Yeah. External links and all. But the controversy surrounding Coca-Cola and Nestle are definately worse (I looked up Nestle lol), they're more human rights type criticisms, which Pepsi's is more of an alleged "contamination" issue.

  • It's all shite really, bad for kidneys and your teeth-the soft drinks anyway. Drink water and juice.

  • haha, cool interview!

  • these guys are genius, and if they can recreate the magic a few more times, will NOT be just a band...

  • what will they be?

    magicians?

    ;)

  • best video of the year,

    pd: just a band

  • lol, imagine scroobius as pro war?

    "who's crass?" lol

  • did people seriously not get the part about the 4 elements???

  • Although watching it again, left out the only genuinely meaningful "thou shalt" which was "thou shalt give equal worth to tragedies that occur in English speaking countries compared to those that occur in non English speaking countries".

  • Fair comment - although I was trying to limit the questions to the actual bones of contention & debate that the track has instigated. Think it's fairly safe to say that the 'English Speaking Countries' lyric is universally accepted as a sentiment beyond reproach; we might all not live up to this in every day life, but we do at least aspire to...

  • Oh that wasn't a criticism, I think this vid was great. :)

  • Thou shalt not listen to scroobius pip.

    Excellent.

  • I like the way he says he pedophile, haha

  • I like the way you spell it.....dumbo.

  • i know he he

  • These guys are awesome.

  • Thou shalt not wish your girlfriend was a freak like me.

  • just a band...

  • The Next Big Thing.
