Well, after downloading both of the OST soundtrack volumes, I discovered that NEITHER of the track 14s in EITHER of the volumes are titled "Cara Mia", "Turret Opera", or "The Turret Opera" or anything close to that. The song simply isn't in the OST. I *would* (probably along with a hell of a lot of other people) like the uploader to correct his mistake, so that people aren't fooled.

Cave had Caroline put as GLaDOS against her will and GLaDOS used Caroline as it's base in order to develop into a AI advanced enough to no longer need that base (that's why she deleted Caroline at the end of Portal 2). Chell then woke up from cyro sleep and....Portal starts.

It's part of the sarcasm. IT DOES say in Chell's file that she is adopted, Wheatley even says "adopted fatty" to Chell BECAUSE he reads her file, BUT if you read the comics and did some thinking, you'll realize that only the file says she's adopted, but she's still potentially Caroline and Cave's daughter.
GLaDOS says she hates robots because they can't die. Well, I consider that some bullshit really. She stated at the end of the game that she had a pretty good life and simply TESTED. She just loved testing. APERTURE SCIENCE does not like humans since humans make errors, so they have no problem killing them off. GLaDOS, if you play co-op, actually praises the robots for not having specific human like traits and that they have smaller room for error.

This is not GLaDOS singing to Chell. This is Caroline talking to her daughter Chell. Which is funny, because I should mention that Chell is probably like 6 or 7 years old. Maybe even much younger. That's why she can't speak. Her solving puzzles is her natural knowledge. How is Chell so young? Because her dad, Cave Johnson, put her in a rapid aging experiment. So stop saying Chell is hot -_-

@Ozitiho Well Chell was Cave Johnson's kid. Cave was interested only in science, as was Caronline. He had Chell go into cyro sleep, for rapid aging....OR he simply put her in cyro sleep. Either way, she was in cyro sleep. Cave had Caroline put as GLaDOS against her will and GLaDOS used Caroline as it's base in order to develop into a AI advanced enough to no longer need that base (that's why she deleted Caroline at the end of Portal 2). Chell then woke up from cyro sleep and....Portal starts.

@SilentPhenomed Johnson died around 1981. Portal 1 is set after the Black mesa incident (Wolfpaw said that) which is set around 200x. Chell can't be her daughter. Also, GLaDOS didn't use anyone, as Caroline is obviously the "Genetic Lifeform" part of GLaDOS (which stands for genetic lifeform and disk operative system). It would be right to say that Aperture scientists used Caroline.

If you translate the Cara Mia song, it's "My dear, my sweet oh chell, why do you run away from science," or something like that. That's CAROLINE, aka Cave Johnson's wife, talking to Chell. Well, she wasn't singing it obviously, but the turrets basically sang Caroline's song to Chell.

@Ozitiho I KNOW that Chell was in cryosleep. Read the comics, replay both portals, and make sure you listen to developer commentary for further understanding. Eventually, it should start to make sense that Caroline was Chell's mother. The Cara Mia translation is Caroline talking to her daughter, but through the turrets, despite her being deleted recently from GLaDOS before Chell leaves. But GLaDOS not killing Chell and letting Cara Mia play says a lot about GLaDOS itself. Makes sense?

At some point, Caroline (the GlaDOS that doesn't sound creepy as fuck) says you are adopted "and that is horrible". Given, Caroline could have been the adoption parent. But why the fuck would you adopt a kid if you're online gonna put it to sleep?

@Ozitiho I've played the whole single player. More than enough of it actually. GLaDOS used sarcasm at those early tests when she firsts starts to have Chell test again. Sorrowful tone? It's part of the sarcasm. IT DOES say in Chell's file that she is adopted, Wheatley even says "adopted fatty" to Chell BECAUSE he reads her file, BUT if you read the comics and did some thinking, you'll realize that only the file says she's adopted, but she's still potentially Caroline and Cave's daughter.

GLaDOS says she hates robots because they can't die. Well, I consider that some bullshit really. She stated at the end of the game that she had a pretty good life and simply TESTED. She just loved testing. APERTURE SCIENCE does not like humans since humans make errors, so they have no problem killing them off. GLaDOS, if you play co-op, actually praises the robots for not having specific human like traits and that they have smaller room for error.

@Bruceu2Uber I think it's pretty accurate phonetically, sans the "stimo". I think she's saying "che la stima", though I don't know Italian. I just know what I can hear as a Phonetician. It has been suggested that she's saying "Oh Chell", but it would be a clever pun as "oh ciel", though the two are the same in pronunciation, so I suppose it's personal preference at best.
