I have one for fun...The only problem with it that I have is that I shocked myself with it (with no cartridge) and after the shock is over, there is no more pain...Someone can fight back after the shock...

@lolley1100 thats what I say. it can only go for 5 seconds so every 5 seconds I will get just a little bit closer to you. So if your gonna taser me you better be sure its for a good reason or eventually I WILL GET TO YOU and shove that taser clean up your ass. :-) - in the hands of police tasers are for absolutely "control" NOT for defense or law enforcement. That reason alone should ban them in the hands of police.

@bohica001 Does not work like that. By design they can only fire for "5 second" then you have to release the trigger and press it again. SO every 5 seconds your free to get a little closer. :-) of course its more fantasy than anything else. I don't anticipate every being tasered (though they are getting creative with reasons to taser people lately) but either way if I become a real threat he would just draw his pistol. No beating that.

best thing one could do, is by social skills, predict when the policeman is going to trigger, then move your hands along from the side (right before he shoots), pushing the taser/taser's wires off to the sides, OR try avoiding it somehow, by spinning around or whatever - I'd probably just improvize.

Well, the guy fully concentrated on the taser, that's why he managed to free himself. In a real fight, the attacker is too busy handling many others things and he won't be able to respond in the way the guy did.

Should have him turn around and shoot him in the back, which is the best position to deploy the taser. Bet he wouldn't get out of that! Plus the distance between the probes wasn't that far, so it is much easier to fight through it. It's pretty simple, the more distance between the probes the more muscles are affected. Meaning less muscle function for the suspect. If there was a larger spread between the darts, there is really no way to fight through it.

Yea, I don't know. The probes didn't hit him center mass. I honestly only saw one hit him. It still looked convincing though. All I know is I went down when I was tazed. Although I was shot in the back . . . .

The taser shot was a bad shot, it caught him in the arm. Notice the laser dot moves to the right and you see his arm move. Now that shouldn't make all that much difference but in conjunction with the count down he knows exactly when it was coming.

I am sure if it caught him off guard and in his core he wouldn't be able to take it.

Ok touch a battery terminal with your hand. Elbow hurts right? Now lick it. Tell me it doesn't matter. Now I know the voltage on the taser negates some of that because it makes its connection quicker. But when it makes its connection it drops to a much much lower voltage than the rated 100,000 or whatever volts it is.

Here is how I understand it. The voltage isn't as important as the amperage. You can take 2 million volts without effect at low amperage, whereas 110 volts at 7 amps will kill you. The taser is designed like a medical device to interfere with your own electrical sysytems, not to induce pain like a cattle prod.

this is something anyone can do if they are facing the taser atacker. all he did was set his arms so that when they came down at least one of the cable could have come off. if the test is done with your hand up and away from your body there is no way of stoping the taser.

I'd say pretty sharp because I've hear from somewhere that they can even penetrate body armour.

@Triwood1973 They don't penetrate the armor, but the electricity arcs through kevlar as easily as air, allowing the body to get the normal shock it usually would, provided the darts stay embedded in the kevlar

@Triwood1973 They can in fact penetrate soft body armor(including IIIA NIJ 0101.06 spec models) well enough to complete a circuit and cause incapacitation. Certain body armor manufacturers sell specialty conductive liners for soft armor that absorb electrical current and protects against tasers. Though it wont do a damn thing if your struck on the arm or anywhere else that is exposed. They are only available to Law enforcement, military, and security contractors though.
