Tupac knew that there wouldn't have been a thing called hiphop without Jamaican DJ's like Count Machuki, U Roy, Big Youth, Dennis Alcapone, I Roy and so on paving the way.
Is there a whole album like this? Just discovered it... Im a huge old school reggae/ska/rocksteady fan, and dig Tu Pac.... just wondering if there was more!
Originally by Alton Ellis in 1968. Title: rock steady. Rap originated in America? No way! Since 1970 in Jamaica. Check out U Roy, Dennis Alcapone, Prince Jazzbo, I Roy and many many more dj's. (JA term of a rapper).
This is avaliable on a 7" single from Ernie B Reggae. It is actually on a B side to Buju Banton; Richie Spice titled the Sensi Rock on the Flex label.
Bad remix, keep them coming

@RasRel, tell'em!!!
Rap originated from the Jamaican sound systems. Listen people to Daddy U Roy and hear the master at work.
There's actually a documentary on rap that talks about its origin coming from JA.
Bless,
AzucaNegra16 1 year ago
@AzucaNegra16 Thanx. Even before U Roy there were dj's who paved the way. Check Count Machuki, King Stitt or Sir Lord Comic.
