There's also an overpopulation of human's, but that hasn't stopped us from breeding yet, has it? There is becoming more and more people homeless everyday, and many of the homeless have children who are forced to grow up living on the streets. I imagine many of us here plan to someday have children (or already do) but we weren't thinking about all the orphans who could have been adopted. Some people want to have an experience raising puppies... so what? There's nothing wrong with it.

And I do think humans should stop having lots of children, and I am going to have none, so some people do actually think about that. Plus for a lot of people having your own child is different - they came from you. But your dog having puppies is completely different.

@Schatteneidechse No you can't expect that, because most humans are selfish and don't fully understand the implications it will have on the planet, and see how much we are going to and already are damaging it. Also, it is NOT about these puppies finding homes, it's about people adopting these puppies INSTEAD of shelter dogs who will be put down if they don't find homes. Places like the Blue Cross have asked people to spay/neuter their dogs are there are already far too many needing homes.

But what I sometime really can´t understand is that people are making a fuss over cross-breeds, but allowing "real" breeders to make their dog giving birth every year and support breeding defects. This might be one of the reasons I would adopt a shelter dog. I don´t want to buy a diseased dog for alot of cash...

But you can´t say it´s selfish to have children. It´s selfish when you can´t care for them

I completely agree about the cross breeds - they are much better and are much healthier and are not at risk of all the genetic diseases etc, unfortunately a lot of people want a "pedigree" and like the idea of spending an insane amount of money on a puppy :/
