too heavy and too fast for the airframe.

Well cant you add weight to the back. you also dont have to give it full throttle.

What is a 1/2 volks? An engine that has been sawed in half? About what was your total cost to build and how long?

Basically it is a 4 cylinder VW made into a 2 cylinder VW by removing the rear 2 cylinders. You can then leave the crankshaft and case whole , or cut them to remove a little weight.

I believe the company sells a version for a full VW everything about the plane is beefed up a bit.
