William Russ also known as Alan Mathews who is Cory's dad on the show used to live down the street from my dad when he was a kid and used to be good friends as children thy both ended up becoming best of friends, dated the same girls, and hung out together. I found this out from my dad coming in my room as a kid and watching it with me just to see how well his old friend did over the years. His stories that he has told me really remind me of Cory and Shaun on the show :)
