its always boils down to the same thing..."if something is too good to be true, even a little bit, dont get involved, despite the extreme temptation of greed".....Madoff making money despite ups and downs in the market was a massive red flag, but greed on the part of investors caused them to invest...you've got to know instinctively that something is wrong with investments that return steady profit despite economic and political conditions...ads for casinos work on this concept....
This is the lesson to everyone that you have to share what you earn with disadvantaged ones otherwise the Devil always send their "trusted and wall street proven investors" and wipe you out.
See I think that if these old people didn't dye their hair then they could have seen throug the scam and realized that Bernie Madoff was crooked and sly as a fox but the dye stupefied there brains!
The Madoff victims all deserve their financial losses. They were all lazy and greedy; they were all avoiding work - they just wanted their monies to work for them - i.e., passive income. They simply didn't want to live by the sweat of their brows. I say, good for them, they all lost their monies!! Hurrah for Madoff - he was very smart indeed!
I agree with most of what you wrote. They should all be mad at themselves for their own stupidity not at Madoff... he was just a smart guy who knew how to use these idiots.
If they were stupid enough to put in all their money (which was a move they obviously couldn't afford) then they'd most likely lose it in another irrational way.
A life lesson learned. They need to take ownership and responsibility for getting themselves into such a position.
It's no different then if a woman were to get mugged at night, she should be taking responsibility for walking out on the streets alone late at night...
It's not empowering for them to remain in the victim mentality.
If you lost all your life savings and money to a total fraud (who had a totally innocent looking investment thingy), and you know you're not getting the money back, you'd kill whoever did this to you with your own hands.

It's not just a "victim" mentality.
It's a "hate and revenge" mentality.

We are imperfect creatures subject to animalistic emotions such as anger, vengeance, hate, greed and many other negative emotions.
Being human, your first instinct is going to be towards anger. However the key to transcending this and learning the proper life lesson is compassion.
The key is to understand where this man was coming from and have compassion for him.
In today's society, few are able to transcend these emotions through compassion/understanding, regardless of circumstances.
