This is final fantasy 8, why do the graphics suck soooooo much? I mean final fantasy 7 had much better graphics plus good movie but this isn't cutting it for me

@kazama195 I can only assume that you are referring to Final Fantasy VII - Crisis Core which, was on the PSP and made way after Final Fantasy VIII which, was on the PS1.

Well anyway, they certainly liked to release games on Xbox/GC/PS2 to make maximum profit, I liked the GC too it was fun, the GC is also really easy to work on compared to the PS2.

I mostly moved from SNES to Xbox, then eventually got PS2 and GC.

Still the PS2 sold like mad..........it has some treasures.

I think FF8 kinda sucked honestly, I'm not much of a FF fan but they did some great work on some of them.

Still haven't gotten around to getting a 360 but the consoles sure are coming down in price.

Of course not, FFX was the first game with voice acting, and you are not going to understand the story from a Final Fantasy game just from watching the CGI scenes.

mixing cg cinematics with the ingame characters is pretty awesome.. i wish they did that more often in later games.

( IMO) Yeah everything Final Fantasy was great until Squaresoft had to merge with Enix, which led to the main writer Suckaguchi leaving and the main Music directer Uematsu leaving. Which was right after X-2 then it seemed they made alot of bogus FF games:(

I love ths game, but for me, the best are Final Fantasy Crisis Core and FF7 xD I love Squall and Riona, but I love too Cloud and Zack ^.^ really nice game, and the graphics are awesome for that year ^^

Man, the cut-scenes in this game is JUST PLAIN AWESOME!!!! And the characters don't need to speak in these scenes. The scenes themselves pretty much speak for themselves. Why can't more games have cut-scenes like that anymore?

@mbDiary There was dialogue, just not during the cut scenes; however, voice acting was something no Final Fantasy had until X. You used to have to read the text and use your imagination a bit more.

in COMPLETE honesty, it would have been wicked if Squall went into a coma or something or somehow went MIA after the end of disc 1 (where Edea hurls a magic icicle at him and ends up piercing his chest) and you had to play as the other 5 characters for a little bit till he got better or was found, just my $0.02

iirc he made a full recovery very quickly, or at least the next instance of gameplay allowed you to use him right away

I can't understand why 8 is not celebrated more. The cinematics of the cut scenes and the way you interact within in them (4:41) -simply amazing, especially for gaming in 1999. It felt like a movie where what you did mattered in the scene. Few games do this successfully (like Heavenly Sword).

9/9/99 Dreamcast & FF8 launch- that was an awesome day.
