I've been in the water with it a few times but never under 8 feet deep. So far never had any problems. I've seen a few video online of people scuba diving with these under water housing units and they dont seem to have a problem. Both the camera and housing is 200 together new so it wouldn't be a giant loss if something happened.

How strong is the plastic? Do u think it will be able to handle a paintball hitting it?

Good question and idea. The plastic is for sure thicker on the sides than in the front and back. I honestly dont know if the electronics inside the camera would be effected by a solid hit by a paint ball.  I honestly would be shocked though if the casing was cracked. If the paint ball only glanced the casing I think you would be ok. If you shoot something with it send it my way.
