  • America still has to pay the royal family to be free.

  • It's always interesting to find non-American versions of the Tea Baggers/Partiers. Unquestioning 'patriotism' is always stupid, not to mention alarming, no matter the country.

  • Having a Royal Family that pays no taxes, has some hereditary wealth payed by the people and lives a life full of privileges, palaces, travels and meting with the richest people on the planet is a f****ng insult to the rest of the people of their country.

I am from Spain, we have a Royal family here and it is insulting just to witness the luxury lifestyle they have while the rest of the country is fighting the crisis.

  • In 1977 the Sex Pistols sang "god save the queen, she ain't no human being". That's all that needs to be said.

  • so the whole notion of royality seems offencive to Bill... Frankly I'd rather have an old, inbred, half-german, dignified woman who has always come across with a great sence of grace and deceny as Head of State over anything a "free" land who elects brainless, homophobic, bigots with the IQ of a turnip and rather than worry about the economy whine on and on about gays in the army or creationism in schools

We might be less free, but F;n Hell are we smarter.

  • King George V, VI and Queen Elizabeth II has helped England sane during the insane 20th centuries that was Europe. WWI, WWII, political uncertainty in before plus after and the decline of the Empire.

You can argue they have bad moments like King Edward VIII, Princess Diana, support Hitler (before the war) etc. But overall, they did quite well.

Will they survive? That will depends on Prince Charles and Prince William. Like any monarchy in the world. their work will decide their fate.

  • I understand why Bill Maher doesn't like the Monarchy because of it's absolute power and privileges that is he think is unworthy. English monarchy is the target here because of the American fascination towards it.

But the real question is if the Monarchy is so outdated, why is it still so successful in England? They cannot declare war, raised any taxes and dictate any policies. Even the address to the Parliament is written by Parliament.

Unpopular monarchy will be overthrown like Nepal.

  • @tiaopiak

    because brits are stupid sheeps

  • i do like bill maher, but I think he's missing the point on this issue and thats the simple fact that kate middleton isnt an incest spawn! the simple fact that the latest generation of the royal family is moving away from only marrying another lord or lady is PROGRESS. Thats one of the reasons that everyone was so excited for the royal wedding: She is from the "general public"!

  • the 420 reference was brilliantly done

  • What blow him blow his pussy hole.

  • As a Briton I will never swear alliegence to a politician, or to anyone who represents a political party - the point been that in Britain, Canada and a few other places, the head of state is seperate and above politics; No democracy is perfect, including the United States, and allthough I respect the American system, I much prefer our own system. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

  • Give me the Queen over any american prez any day. She is second to none God Save the Queen.

  • @SILVERCLOUD141

she is a dumb bitch, wake up

  • @verbod Try saying something worth reading darling.

  • Bill is completely wrong about the reasons for the American revolution. The King could not start a war or imprison anyone without trial, he was subservient to parliament just as the queen is now. The american Bill of Rights is a copy of the English Bill of Rights from 100 earlier.

The revolution was about money and power, as are all major wars. It's strange that Bill doesn't know this....

  • And how does it all play out after almost 250 years? We have a dignified head of state with a legendary dedication to duty, whose council carries the weight of 60 years of political experience. For the past 12 years America has had two light-weight political opportunists, neither of whom I'd trust to hold my wallet.

  • Do like the way Bill holds up a mirror to the short comings of peoples hypocrisy and silliness. Keep it coming Bill.

  • Spare us the story of how America was founded. The idea that you can hate the idea of monarchy but find acceptable the idea of slavery points to the real reason behind the founding of the USA and behind almost every conflict in the world, ever - money, land, power. Noble ideals? Irrelevant.

  • Why is it that a human-hating anti-American can sit comfortably behind a desk & brainwash his fellow drunkards into totalitarianism, but somebody who actually tries to help is crucified publicly? I can't wait for the pyramid to be turned upside-down & crushed.

  • All the folks that worship the Queen often justify their ignorance, infantile and naive state of mind by reminding us how bloody was the french revolution..But in all justice, although it was a dark period, the blood spilled to get rid of that dictatorship was actually small be compared to what the monarchs have done in terms of oppression and cruelty for many many centuries..It could have been done in a more peaceful way, but that's a judmental statement given the context...

  • Couldn't agree more with Bill. Why glorify an keep an institution that lives dates from the Dark ages and is owned and directed by people with no talent, competence or any kind of specialised skills...Monarchy is actually a glorified parasite system that feeds itself with tax money..All that glamorous facade about royalty is actually there to cover and mask an ugly reality..The Americans and the French actually displayed their political maturity when they got rid of their monarchs..

  • @BDeiste The Monarchy makes considerably more money than is spent on it and have no powers. It is an important part of the worlds history. It is a working however, and the royal family pretty much give their life up and work until death doing all the official head of state duties that would need doing if they were there or not - they are rich but I would never swap places for that for even more money than they have.

  • you have a point which i agree with but i would rstill have a monarchy than a president who ends up in the pockets of companies like in the usa

  • Constitutional monarchy is a form of government in which a king or queen acts as Head of State.

The ability to make and pass legislation resides with an elected Parliament, not with the Monarch.

  • @kevinkards The tax payer still spends millions upon millions funding another family's luxurious lifestyle with their tiny paychecks.

  • it's funny coming from Bill, given that people in the US are so sycophantic when it comes to politicians and anyone, just anyone, with money. That's the royalty in the states...cash. It's odd that we have a better human rights record than the US...in spite of a nasty old monarchy? It's a constitutional monarchy, very different concept to 'cash takes all' US politics.

  • World Politically fucked up index (just made up):N.Korea:100, P.R.China:99,USA:70 Russia:60,UK:60

  • LONG LINE OF COUSIN FUCKERS!! HAHAHAHAHAHA SO TRUE!!! I LOVE AMERICA! F THE REST!

  • "Obama hasn't given any of those powers back." Would you?

  • Oiy, it's your fault for covering it, we never demanded you covered Will & Kate... so this rant should be less: Piss of the Brits, more: Fuck is our media desperate for something they can't whine about... oh shit they just did

  • An american president is to be addressed as "Mr. President" even if he is out of office, love of titles?

  • The other 80% of her time is spent doing charity work, infact her entire life has been devoted to these fundamental causes (She's well over 80 years old). How people can have hate towards an old gracious, wise and loving woman I can't fathom. You must have a very warped perception is all I can say, and that's not your fault, I can only imagine the amount of propaganda over there on anything monarchy related! So much for 'peace' America!!

  • @madzangels That was a pretty long and boring way of explaining what that rotten sack os potatoes is good for, and in the end it merely stresses how obsolete that corpse of an institution has become. It will eventually die everywhere. It is only a katter of time, so you might as well enjoy it... while you can. XD

  • @makokun9 It's only a matter of time, well that's what each new generation thinks...Like each new generation thinks it knows better then the last, it can bring world peace, they were the first to be 'cool' etc etc The monarchy hasn't been in absolute power since the middle of the 1600's, you are another muppet who thinks just because we're in some kind of 'digital age' we no longer need it. Just like they got it wrong 400 years ago, your wrong again. Will of the people nob-end.

  • @madzangels And you are just another royal ass sucker who thinks that a sack of potatoes who wears flowerpots for hats is worth anything at all, like the mentally retarded. You might as well find a more interesting hobbie, like fucking chickens... No matter what you think, the end of monarchies is nearer than ever so deal with it. XD

  • @makokun9 Your an idiot, the fact you seem bewildered at a British person actually being proud of their cultural heritage is just insane to you isn't it? You foreign fuck who's never had any power, mwahahahaha!! POOR BASTARD!!

  • @madzangels That Jingoism of yours (because that is the only thing related to "cultural heritage" in your piece of shit comment) makes me wonder if Britons are as dumbasses as the stereotypes about them seems to suggest. Hope not.

  • @makokun9 Stop hating your life because your not British...You will never be British, you don't have 'it' to begin with!! You'lll never be able to wow gorgeous women like my g/friend cos your accent sucks, and you don't know what it is women want, your a cluless sack of spuds old boy!! :D Now fuck off and go find that life you've been searching over YouTube for now for the last 7 years!!! hahaha!! LONG LIVE THE QUEEN, BRITANNIA RULES THE WAVES!!! RULE BRITANNIA, RULE!!

  • @madzangels Oh, so that´s what your shitty fallacy you believe in is made of! XD

Pity that rotten corpse of an institution will soon decay once and for all, and the last farewells to that satinking sack of potatoes at the center of your cult will mark the time to wake the fuck up. :D

  • @makokun9 Also, Queen Elizabeth would kick the shit out of any of your Grandmothers, and you all know it - so fuck off :)

  • She is devoted to the commonwealth, a group of countries consisting nearly a third of the worlds population which agree to combined efforts to promote democracy, human rights, good governance, the rule of law, individual liberty, egalitarianism, free trade, multilateralism, and world peace.

  • For those interested in the TRUTH!!

The monarchy (or 'Queen' or 'King') reigns she does not rule, meaning she has all the powers but employs others to exercise those powers on her behalf (Constitutionally speaking) it's called 'her government' (a political party which has a prime minister, not president) although a PM has more power than a president does. The party who in effect runs 'her office', is elected by 'her people' (The British).

  • Love Bill, but he's got a bit of history wrong here. It was Parliament that chose to set the taxes & go to war with the colonies. Absolute Monarchy in Great Britain ended during the 1600's.

  • Mr Maher, you can criticise unelected monarchy all you want, but look at the idiots your country votes into power. Queen Elizabeth II or George Bush? Hmmm... which one is best? Democracy only works in a country where the majority is right- and I've yet to come across a country where that is the case.

  • @sunonthewindow You misunderestimate him (if you don't get it, look it up). He's not criticising constitutional monarchy, he's chastising the American political class - and very cleverly as well. I'm English, but this is exactly the kind of thinking that I want in America. We can do the ceremony and the history, but America has to stand for something - to be a beacon and example for the world. Unfortunately, it is that no longer (since the 1970s), it is just another country, which is a shame.

  • I LOVE THIS GUY!!! :))

  • may I meet you Bill? :)))

  • american are frightend about healthcare but don't have a problem the homeland security bullshit???

  • iam british and proud but i hate the royal family. why does every american think the royals rule the country

  • i'd rather have the monarchy in charge of the Uk than any American politicians.

  • Bill Maher needs to be a bit more patient. Culture takes time to develop. Europe has been developing hastily for the last 1100 years...America? 220? America is in the early stages of working out how to form a society: working out how to reconcile individuals' freedom to do what they want with said freedom not negatively impacted upon others. It's a struggle that has to happen. Sorry Bill, you were born 1000 years too early into America...

  • The royal family have an influence on laws as well, they would often put pressure on church of England bishops who are in the house of Lords (again, unelected) to vote in their favour. The queen even vetoed a law in the 70s, created by an elected government. It's wrong.

  • I completely agree with Bill on this, I can't stand the fact that the Queen is a higher authority than our Prime Minister, who (like him or not) we elected! She's not just a tourist attraction like many people think she is, she's in charge of everything from the armed forces to the police, even to revenue and customs.

  • PS As for "cousin fuckers", erm the Bush family and the Kennedy's !!

  • For an intelligent man he plays around with history a little. Very few people where sent to the tower of london (only 7 actual killed inside as well) ; George III didn't raise taxes it was parliment and it had been since the 1670's; But the analogy is funny and I get the joke.

  • all the "old" ways of greeting royalty is exactly that the old ways! They dont need to be called your highness anymore....

  • And the great irony? The American legal system and government is now more corrupt than Britain's. Nice one fatties!

  • I said Newt Gingrich at the same time as him.

  • I think a lot of Americans fail to realise that the British monarchy hasn't had any control over the country for a very long time. They're used as a tool - a tourist attraction drawing in billions; a family of ready made ambassadors using thousands of years of history and tradition to charm people into investing in Britain. The Queen is available to advise Prime Ministers but is not allowed to express political opinions publicly. I get Bill's analogy but the ignorance of the context is wearying.

  • Dear stupid youtubers:

Bill was not criticizing the British monarchy. He was criticizing the American monarchy. Take an English class.

  • @Shardfenix you are an idiot.

  • Bill Maher please shut the fuck up you pathetic bastard !!!

  • I love how americans still think the monarchy actually runs our country. So naive.

  • @callum1131 No, the clip was about Bill saying that a monarchy runs America. Learn analogies. So naive.

  • @Shardfenix not quite lol

  • @Shardfenix When did I say he was attacking the British Monarchy?

  • @callum1131

he is attacking all monarchy of course, but it started with a picture of the two morons wedding.

  • @callum1131

you still have picture of a queen on your money and you are paying her a lot of money for no reason every year. That is laughable. And you should be ashamed of the "history" of that monarchy. Blood and lies, that what it is.

  • @verbod OMG!!! a picture of her on our money. You have a picture of abraham lincoln who was against black people becoming citizens of the US. You obviously know very little about history and just want to try and draw attention to yourself. Read a book then comment back with a half intelligent reply. Moron

  • I agree with Bill on many things, but this is not one of them. Here in Britain, the monarchy holds no real power and is merely a figurehead. In fact the only difference between them and your presidents, (head of state role) is that you elect yours every 4 years. All policies are made by the Prime Minister and MPs, so I see no reason why we should scrap this piece of history for change's sake.

  • and the joke of the year goes toooooo....you serious?

  • @MaliCoq What do you mean?

  • @LairdEJM

Monarchy is for retards power or not, wake up.

  • @verbod What? That is hardly a strong argument! "It's for retards." Says who? Why is your system so much better? Can you provide any evidence to support your claims? Monarchy is not a dictatorship in modern Britain, you should brush up on your knowledge, because the contemporary monarchy is merely a tradition.

  • The Tower of London isn't closed.

It's open 9:00-4:30 Tuesday through Saturday and 10:00-4:30 Sunday and Monday

It's one of the biggest tourist attractions in London

  • @rufust1975 Not closed in that way ye dummy.

  • @rufust1975 No more Royal connection - only historic. Lego land gets more visitors that Windsor, which does have current royal connections.

  • @rufust1975. It's closed as a prison. Which was the point Bill Maher was making.

  • @densaner77 Yeah, about the last prisoners to be held there were the Kray twins (it's the ceremonial headquarters for the Royal Fusiliers, and they were held there for a few days for failing to report for national service, before being moved to a proper prison) in 1952.

  • @rufust1975 I think he means that it isn't used as a prison anymore

  • @EnvisionFilms It hasn't since 1952 (one of the buildings there was the regimental HQ of the Royal Fusiliers, and anyone who went AWOL was held there until they could be transferred to a proper prison).

Sorry, British sense of humour got the better of me...

  • @rufust1975 Hey it's the British sense of humour that is now truly flying the flag for Britain now. Sounds like you have pride in Britain which is good you should be it is an awesome country.

  • @rufust1975 Stating the obvious but by closed he means closed as a prison, Which it is.

  • @WesleyDieson77 Hasn't been a prison since 1952 (it was an army regimental hq, and they locked up people who went AWOL there until they could be transferred to a proper prison)

    British humour, sorry...

  • @rufust1975 isnt that thing starting to lean

  • @hjaimeg Think that's the bell tower at the Houses of Parliament (Big Ben), I haven't heard of any major subsidence at the Tower of London. It is on the flood plane though, so I wouldn't be surprised.

  • @rufust1975 guess bill maher isn't always right....

  • @rufust1975 He means it isn't used as a jail anymore.

  • @udun93 I think he was joking.

  • @BasilFawlty4444 You have no idea how much I bloody hope so

  • @udun93 @BasilFawlty4444 Of course I'm joking (I have a very British sense of humour, sorry), although those are the actual opening hours. Part of it was used as temporary holding (for people who went AWOL from the Royal Fusilers, who used some of the ToL at a regimental headquarters) back in the early 1950s but since then it's just a tourist attraction.

  • @rufust1975 Is it really necessary to qualify WTF he was talking about here ? You don't keep prisoners in the tower of London any more. Pedantic twits.

  • @evilyig I didn't for the first few, but it gets to the point where as soon as one of my explanations along the lines of "no it hasn't been a prison at all for 60 years" drops off of the front page, someone else feels they have to explain that he didn't mean it was open as a prison.

A sad clash of humour and humor, but what can I do?

  • @rufust1975 very true, but it's no longer used to keep prisoners. So the Tower of London is closed for its original purpose, and is now a landmark and a place to keep jewelry. Get it?

  • lets not forget you needed the french for help

  • Hey America... how's that rebellion turning out?

  • We must remind them they are public servants, and if that does not work (cough) remove them by any means necissary ..... *i did'nt just say that outload did i? (oop's.... someone's at the door... be right back..)

  • May I remind people that the first democracy in the world was in fact Britain. And when that went tits up we reinstalled the monarchy to keep parliment under control. Now niether side has ultimate power and niether side can get carried way.

  • @RapeJesusWithAStick actually the first democracy in the world was Greece, Greek is where the word Democracy comes form and it means rule by the people

  • What you have to realise is that royals have no power whatsoever. They actualy make a profit for the United Kingdom before you even take into account the tourism they bring. I don't belive the world will be a better place if we get rid of a thousand year old tradition. I guess I enjoy the pomp and circumstance of it all.

  • @starofcctv94 Wrong. The Monarch is there to keep parliment in check.

  • Comment removed

  • He got his facts wrong XD!! royalties aren't even allowed to vote or even speak about politics at all! at least not in Sweden. When he says royalties as a general term like that he is just as dumb as an normal american when it comes to monarchy...

  • @medinjo17 He wasn't talking about their current political power. You have completely missed the point. Watch it again.

  • @Miranox2 Sry, forgot to turn on the sound in the beginning.. but is a bit harsh against monarchy, don't you think?

  • @medinjo17 in countries like the Netherlands and Belgium, the powers of the Monarch are greater than other European monarchs

  • @irishgodfatherchris So? Still a bit harsh.. Both Netherlands and Belgium are better of than The US..

  • @medinjo17 a bit but if anything its nice to be able to every once in a while just have a rant about anything, I do that, I'm sure you do too. As for the last part yes you are correct even though until about 8 weeks ago Belgium had spent over 1 and half years without a government both them and the Netherlands are in a decent financial position because of they have a heavily regulated economy which allowed them to protect themselves when the GFC hit hard.

  • @irishgodfatherchris Could you please show me the source of that statement? It sounds like a lie since one have to vote in Belgium according to their law, in other words, one in Belgium get a penalty if one don't vote. It seems like they care very much about their democracy.

  • @medinjo17 after the 2009 election no party in either Flanders or Walloon had anything resembling a workable majority (of the 150 seats in their parliament the largest party only had 26 of them) it wasn't until November 2011 that a Coalition (of about 8 parties) was formed with the French-Speaking Socialists led by Elio Di Rupo (the second openly gay head of government in the world) as the head party.

  • @irishgodfatherchris that is not the source, that is still you doing the statement and not a link to a site or a description how to find a site.. But that still doesn't say why a monarchy is bad, that is just saying that there are to many political parties. It would have been the same without a monarchy. The purpose of a king or a queen is them representing the people and not some elected president with strong political opinion representing the people.

  • @medinjo17 in Belgium and the Netherlands the monarchy takes an active role in politics, in the Netherlands Queen Beatrix not only appoints the Cabinet of the PM but is a part of it, she can also dismiss governments and appoint Prime Minister's at will, in Belgium King Leopold II does a similar role and indeed his children (who act on his behalf) sit in the Senate as hereditary Senators as did he and his brothers and sisters before them and so on.

  • @irishgodfatherchris But is that a bad thing as long as it works? they made the system they have in Belgium for a reason. I believe the system we have in Sweden, Denmark and Norway could be the best systems. The king is the face and pride of the people, not their political view. The people want their representatives to look good in front of other countries, and wants to spoil them, but to spoil a politician is never a good thing, a politician should always have to work hard for their salary.

  • @medinjo17 but they are only in their positions because they were born into them, to be quite honest they have no place interfering in the politics of their country and interfering with due processes being undertaken by ELECTED officials.

  • @irishgodfatherchris Still I don't know if you speak the truth since I haven't found these facts myself, could you link or tell me what to google? But wouldn't you agree the Nordic monarchy works well?

  • @medinjo17 I live in a country where the Head of State is a foreign Monarch and I as a known Republican deeply resent that and there are many like me on the left of politics, so to put it bluntly I don't care about the Monarchy of any nation, the notion that purely by birth that one person is above everyone else is disgusting in my view.

  • @irishgodfatherchris Of course it sucks if the monarchy is of another country, even that I agree. This is how I think: The people want their representative to look good in front of another country. Is it best to spoil someone that represents the history of a people and therefore can represent the people good as well, or it is best to spoil someone politically involved? In other words a position anyone would want; to be spoiled by the people and would probably do everything yo get there.

  • @medinjo17 I still think its abhorrent that a person is born into a life which instantly puts them above everyone else and as I've said before it disgusts me, anyone who is in any position of authority should be elected and not be gifted it purely because of their blood.

  • @irishgodfatherchris Still better than the alternative.. Look up witch countries is the most happiest in the world, and watch bill mahers comments on Sweden, and look how well Sweden did in the finances crises. I could go on but I think you got the point. Monarchy is not solution alone, but i think it played an important part.

  • I'm a Constitutional Monarchist, and I liked this video and found it very witty - not historically or jurisprudentially accurate, but very well done and very funny. It's actually about the recent passage of US defence appropriations and the 'poison-pill' it contained, which allows indefinite detention of US citizens (and anyone else) without trial on US soil where terrorism is suspected.

  • I'm british and I did not give a FUCK about the royal wedding

  • Yes, British people, we know the royal family no longer holds any political power.

  • The revolutionary war was more about unjust taxation. After the war though the founding fathers did considered maybe it is time to be rid of the royalty society.

Except it turns out these days there are still royalty, they are just people with money and controls everything through money through shady business practices. Capitalism gone wild is what I would call our current situation. Greed have went too far and infringed on basic human decency due to profit motives. One royalty for another.

  • Not quite what the American war of independence was about, he's romanticizing slightly there I think.

  • I just think that 50% of bill maher clips are just listening to an audiences applause

  • Yeah it's weird , people think it was noble to be a Knight. The Knights main job was beating the crap out of peasants and make them serve the King.Who needs these people.

  • @flubno Yeah, people think it's noble to be a Commissioned Officer that is practically the same thing except they don't beat the crap out of Americans yet. Just the rest of the world.

  • @ActuallyLiam Yes, It's been a long time sense we had a noble war, with plain cut good guys and bad guys. lately we have been invading small countries that have oil or other natural resources our transnational corporations wants. Of course there is some propaganda and spin to make it look right. Anyone with half a brain can see thru this shit. We are basically beating the crap out of poor people to steal their resources for the Anglo Empire. Not much difference from the old days.

  • I doubt he minds dictatorial powers, just the particular results such as he mentioned here. As long as what they dictate is "right" such as being forced into centralized "healthcare" - then it is a "gift". The People are "given" healthcare and not FORCED into a government/corporate economic loop with the threat of fines. The choice of words seems to very important to Bill.

What does it matter if it's one person or a group of millions who dictate ONE way of doing things? It doesn't.

  • Bill Maher is a hero, he's making a living out of being awesome. o.o

  • Preach it bill!

  • king george III had nothing to do with taxation over the american colonies because he was a constitutional monarch. And constitutional monarchies have proven to be more successful than compared to any politicians republic (which is what the u.s are) because it has a check & balance system of where powers are given or denied by both the parliament and the monarch.

  • @liverpoolmatt87 That's what the original U.S. constitution tried to do as well by having three branches of government at the federal level: legislative, executive, and judicial. THEN you have powers divided between the states and the federal government. To add to all of that, the U.S. Congress has two houses to further serve the checks and balances role, with the House of Representatives (determined by an population) and the Senate (each state gets two representatives).

    Then, history happened.

  • @psychomatthias yes well the u.s congress is more or less based on the british parliament in the respect of the two houses, house of commons and the house of lords. the difference is that the u.s president is the overall head of state. in a constitutional monarchy the monarch is seperate from politics but is the executive branch of the where monarch is head of state. also u.s bill of rights is based similarly to the english bill of rights 1689

  • I'm a British Republican and I am totally opposed to the monarchy. But, please - don't rewrite history. The American War of Independence had little to do with monarchism - it was about taxation.

  • He's making a valid point, we no longer have the Tower of London but the US has Guantanamo bay

  • Hey Bill, shit on your own Country. You have plenty of problems over there.

  • I'm english the royal family has no power the prime minister is in charge the royal family are a tourist attraction

  • @Azmuth5 I am also english do you not think it is discusting that one family live, well like royalty just because of a birth right. I have contributed more in my 23 years to society than the Queen has in her entire life where are my millions?

  • @Numb3rkid and I agree with you but there just a tourist trap, no they don't deserve their title, money or land their just a drain on resources of the English people

  • @Azmuth5 Actually, the Royal Family produce £2.60 in profit per person in the UK from crown land revenues.

That is excluding the billions that the Royal Family bring into Britain in tourism.

    youtube.com/watch?v=bhyYgnhhKFw

As long as our elected representatives hold the real power then I'm OK with it; the PM controls the Royal Preogative and Parliamentary Sovereignty + Three line whip gives him power.

  • @BasilFawlty4444 "That is excluding the billions that the Royal Family bring into Britain in tourism."

So if Buckingham Palace was open to Tourists all year round rather than less than 80 days of the Year, how much money could be made?

When people talk about Crown Lands they are actually talking about STATE ASSETS.

  • @Numb3rkid

    You're an idiot

  • @codownni I suppose only idiots expect respect to be earned not given, that explains why I have a problem with people expecting something for nothing. If that's what constitutes an idiot I am proud to be one.

  • @Numb3rkid

"I have contributed more in my 23 years to society than the Queen has in her entire life"

    Idiot. Do some research.

  • @codownni No you haven't contributed more to society in 23 years than the Queen has in her life time, She is 86 years old & still contributes much to this country. She has my respect & the respect of millions of other people. It's a pity she doesn't have more power, then she could kick out all of the corrupt politicians especially the republicans & start throwing all the traitors back into the Tower of London & then out through traitors gate at high tide ! God Save the Queen :o)

  • @drage1862

totally agree, you've replied to the wrong person.

  • @codownni I apologise my friend :o) NumbNut or whatever he calls himself will read it anyway. Be Lucky !

  • @Numb3rkid The Queen's OK, I quite like having a monarchy as it defines our country.

Let us not forget also that we actually make quite a lot of money from them; about £2.60 profit per person in the UK from revenue from the crown lands - and that's excluding the countless billions that the Royal Family bring in from tourism.

  • @Azmuth5 If you think the prime minister has any power then you do not know a THING about British politics.

  • @untamedromeo I think that the three line whip and Parliamentary Sovereignty pretty much make the Prime Minister the most powerful man in Britain...

  • I find it refreshing and reassuring to hear mr. Maher in these times. Sometime we forget that the USA is not completely populated with morons. Good luck to him and his fans, with the state of the union for the foreably future, they'll need it. From your neighbour inn the north.

  • You Americans are fucked. I don't want to be telling you how to run your country, but you really need to make some reforms.

  • I am English and this offends me! LOL joke it's fucking hilarious!!

  • I prefer living in a Constitutional Monarchy but I thought that was pretty funny. Maher got some facts wrong tho'. Two English civil wars & the Glorious Revolution ended Absolote Monarchy in the 1600's. When the Kingdom of GB (later becoming the UK) was formed in 1707 it was as a Constitutional Monarchy with Parliament holding executive power. The Colonists revolted against acts of Parliament done without their representation. George III sided with Parliament but he had no power to go to war.

  • as an englishmen i find this soooo true

  • It's ironic that America (aka. a nation that was built up on the rejection of a monarchy) was the most excited and enthusiastic about the Royal Shitfe- I mean, Royal 'Wedding'.

In Britain, polls showed that 80% of the total population DIDN'T CARE.

If even Britain doesn't care about the BRITISH royal's wedding, I don't think anyone should. It's insulting to any person advocating for social equality to think that monarchs are to be worshipped and treated differently from us "commoners".

  • @foojuice101

    This is so true.

I don't know anyone who gave a fucking shit about it.

I had people from American constantly asking me, "so did you watch the wedding"? Of course I fucking didn't. I have shit to do.

  • @ZPSBestProfileName

Yeah, people asked me that too.

"HEY HEY OMFG DID YOU WATCH THE ROYAL WEDDING?!"

No, I fucking didn't. I have a life and better things to worry about, than some fancy-pants wedding. XD

  • @foojuice101 and ah which polls did that result come from in britain.

  • @foojuice101 Well see the issue is the average American never paid attention to that but our American media are a bunch of kiss asses . They cover anything that keeps them from having to do real reporting because real reporting is too hard for them. Trust the American Media does in no way reflect the majority of Americans. We have better things to do then watch news. I for one watch Media in Canada UK and Russia.
