you are all pathetic for arguing, lets face it, the N900 is the best phone out there, and it's got plenty of useful apps already. Unlike the iphone, that got 90% useless apps and 10% useful apps. Now im done with you guys, dont want to lower myself anymore then this.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
with the same lack of apps at launch, this phone will be a failure, especially since it is delayed and has no subsidy in the u.s. Nobody wants to rely on huge bandwidth to go to a web page for everything. You would think they would learn a bit about marketing and the common failure of the n97.
Lack of apps at launch?? You know this isn't launched yet.. and there's cool stuff already out there for the N900.. You have no idea what you're talking about.
svntsvn - firstly, seeing as your name is on so many N900 vids, and that you're being so negative before it's even launched, you're either a worried iphone user, or just spouting crap. The browser on this is currently the best on any smart phone, and maybe even your brain can understand that this is what the N97 should have been - hence they've learned. The "lack of apps" is a typical iComment. There are countless apps already around even before launch. They're just not forced to be on the (cont)
equivalent of the iStore. Nor do they have to be approved by Apple. Nor do developers have to give 30% of their money to Apple. Maybe there isn't iFart and iBurp, but there are Scumm, SNES and Quake 3 emulators for fun (which cost nothing), social networking is embedded in the contacts app (Facebook,Gtalk,Skype etc) and developers have been making Maemo software since 2004, so don't worry- there will be tons of support for this.Worry about taking photos in the dark with your iSheep. Numpty.
Numpty? You sound like a bedwetter from worthing for one. Two, you spout off about the handset when I've used it for 3 days and you haven't obviously, because there ISN'T a bloody facebook native app for maemo 5 and it uses python scripts to pull down data for the "widget" They will be switching to Qt for maemo 6 porting so devs will be slower to act out of the gate on this. Quit acting like a nit fanboy and get over yourself. Iphone sucks ass, and so do you.
Whoops. You're wrong there. I'm in Helsinki and have been using the N900 in the flagship store for a month now. Had it at home for 5 days, and loved it already now. Fanboy? Mebbe - genuinely excited about this platform. Maybe the N900 you use didn't have Facebook installed-no idea. When you install facebook, you can share your photos to Facebook via "share via service" Nice touch. Can't figure out why you would look at this vid, unless you want it, or just are looking for a silly argument.
Oh, you mean the facebook applet that allows you to add chat service and sharing to the core os. I am talking about a full blown app that includes inbox, photos, feed, etc. Nokia has a good thing going, but they shouldn't be holding this thing off because it isnt a consumer-centric handset and it wont obviously be all things to all people. Of course I want it, I may keep it longer than the 5 days I had the n97 pile of shit.
maemo,nokia,com/maemo-select/applications/facebook-for-nokia/ is what I mean. (Replace commas with full stops)
It shows status updates, inbox etc, and clicking on it opens a more complete app ahowing photos and more. At least we agree on the N97, although I loved the form factor. Processor, RAM and scratched lens were the final straw, coupled with the OS. I don't need a flashy UI, just functional, which is another reason Maemo suits me.
With the N900 browser you have direct access to facebook site, like from your PC at home. You don't need the facebook app, the youtube app, the bbc app, etc...
Still doesn't beat pinch to zoom though...
