No not necessarily. It really depends upon your teacher. This is a contemporary jazz mix.

i feel like lyrical stays closer to a ballet base, where as contemporary ties in more of a modern base.

yeah i feel like. with contemporary its really more of your expression of course with the base of.. proper uh.. technique i guess you could say but lyrical is like.. a loose ballet, not as precise, but still stays pretty dang close.

i say ballet is well ballet, lyrical is close to ballet, contemporary is whatever you feel like doing at the time, modern is closer to jazz but a mix of jazz and contemporary, and then jazz is jazz
