Brighton Beach has been the center for Russian immigrants since the early 1990's. Just as parts of the Bronx are for Albanians. Or the Chinatowns are for the Chinese. Italians have become more assimiliated into the mainstream as well as have had more upward economic mobility, which has led to them moving to the suburbs. It's about changing demographics, not one organized crime group "forcing" another group out.

I can agree with that. The only real crime war was the Moran-Capone War in the 20's, and the inner fueds before and after Lucky Luciano set up the Commission. But there definitely are many cases where they have been squeezed out through numbers without real bloodshed, like in the examples I said and what is going on in South Boston with the Irish mob not taking shit from the local Mafia and keeping them out of their neighborhoods. But yeah, there rarely ever is an all-out war.
