Thank you for the video. I'm wondering if there is a way to apply the global groove to the metronome. I don't see that feature in Live 8, and I doubt it's even in the feature spec for the new build. Regardless, your video helped me visualize this oft-overlooked subject.
@ricksilvestri Not sure as to what you're looking for. The groove adjusts the rythm inbetween beats, and the metronome is on-beat. For that reason, no groove can change the metronome... Or maybe I'm misunderstanding?
@AirbaseOfficial I'm sorry: I will explain more: Currently the metronome plays a fixed crotchet. However, imagine a clip with lots of tempo fluctuations - say a bassline with human rhythmic feel. Now, say we output that "human" bassline to a drummer who could play off that AND the metronome. The catch is the metronome should follow the human bassline! THAT would truly be elastic audio!
It's an odd feature request, I grant you, but good for those of using live instruments!
@AirbaseOfficial Thank you for all your help and advice! Dont worry about haters that will simply talk bad but never try to do better. I myself as well as many others do appreciate your efforts!
I have a nice amount of experience with audio, but listening to others techniques and workflow's is very helpful to grow and expand! :)
when one want Live to be slaved from a audiofile, will live send out that groove as weel to sequencers that are slaved? im thinking about how to get swing to all these Max for live stepsequencers that has no swing/shuffle implented.. have any idea?
The "Groove Engine" of Ableton Live 8 allows a very komplex , detailed and all-embracing control as well as manipulation of "timings" of all MIDI and AUDIO- Clips in REALTIME!

Your tutorials have helped me understand Live soooo much. I really appreciate you taking the time to create these tutorials. It really is helping me create more different sounds... Thank you soooo much!
hey there jezper.. i belive i was talkin to you at the luminosity beach party. was asking you if you could post a video of how to make good drum rolls leading up to breaks and stuff like that. if you could show various types that would be great..
had a great time at the party . hope to see you again soon.
is live 8 worth the up grade i already have 7 ,with decent plug in s , tossing up beetween it and a minni moog ,,,so sick of vst sounds,, if it was up to you between the 2 what would u choose? by the way great set in meblourne =}
Does that work in session view too, for playing live? And can you still map the global groove control to a fader / knob on your MIDI controller, so you can adjust gradually when performing live?
It's a way of displace certain notes to get a groovy sound. If you listen to the track playing at the end of this tutorial, you can see me adjusting the amount of swing from min to max. There you can hear what it does to the sound.

I hate the sound of Mac mice clicking. Also noobie still has his info tab open.

@erreur That click is an added audio for notification of when I'm clicking. The info tab is for newbies to further understand where I'm clicking.

At the end of the video 2:55 remembered me Sander van Doorn - Control Freak!
U r awesome, Man :)
Can you tell me, did you join a music course and learned this stuff or u just learned it by your ownself?
It bought this CD, installed and at the end i just removed it back, coz i didn't know how to use, its very difficult.
Do you use Fruity loops too?
thanks:)
