I am married to a real plumber who has had to go thru stages for that title. Apprenticeship, journeymanship and after 40 years now a master plumber. Obamas INCREASE of the Capital Gains Tax from %15 to %20 will affect many Americans who have invested in the Stock Market for their retirement. The overall worth of the company will drop as well & the stock in that company, so it will be a 2 fold loss to the investor. McCain wants to keep it at %15 & hopes to lower it to %7. The lower the Capital Gains Tax the more capital, which in turn will actually bring more to the Government Coffers.
The rate hike only applies to people who make more than a certain amount of money. I've neve had to pay the top rate on my capital gains and interest.

Most disturbing is that people who pay no income taxes will get a reimbursement of their payroll taxes, (basically Social Security and Medicare contributions). Having a lineage of people who succeed even though they don't deserve to (see George W Bush: always propped up by his family) means that there will be some people who have the mental capacity and work ethic to succeed that won't, since that "success" spot was taken.
Upward mobility is a very important thing. And if that means that the rich have to get slightly less rich, so be it.

No, actually, I make about half that. And I'm not screaming for people to give me money that I didn't earn. The fact is that all people in this country have the same opportunity for education. The banks, and investors for that matter, played complicated games trading mortgages back and forth. The government didn't cause this, the free market did. I am married to a real plumber who has had to go thru stages for that title. Apprenticeship, journeymanship and after 40 years now a master plumber. Also most plumbers also do other things such as heating and water conditioning. When we saw Joe"the fake "plumber on TV we knew right away he was ajoke! 95% means less than $150k. Congress determines tax rates, not the President. I would worry regardless of income. Most disturbing is that people who pay no income taxes will get a reimbursement of their payroll taxes, (basically Social Security and Medicare contributions). So in reality, they are taking money from our Senior Citizens and giving to people who pay no taxes. I am sorry but I cannot go along with that one. Nor do I have any respect for people who sell their vote for a handout.
