@estreliciagirl ...lolz...I don't get why people would even comment when the video was such a waste of their time in the first place, oh yeah their hate has nothing to do with that in which they project it upon... best to you estreliciagirl !_!
I've seen this before, but I can't remember from where? Where did it come from? It's too long to have been on MTV. Could this have perhaps been at the beginning of their concerts that tour? I know one tour they opened the show with Undertow, with a really long remix before they came out on stage. Miki and Emma need to bring it back together, long live women with noisy guitars.
Thanks for posting this. I saw Lush on this tour at Club DV8 in Salt Lake City. You can see it briefly towards the end of the video. Brought back a lot of great memories as I saw a lot of great bands there. The building burned down a couple of years ago under mysterious circumstances and now the LD$ church owns the property. I guess that's what they call progress.
Really enjoyed this clip. I liked the remix, they sounded quite Slowdivey. I've not heard Lush done that way before. Thanks very much. Ya know, they really sealed the 90's by going defunct didn't they?
Thanx for sharing.... yeah no shit, aren't you the fucking genius on the page here.... oh wasn't it spooky enough for you mr big and tall 666.... wow how dark you are... twat
It's a fascinating look at what life was like for Lush while they're on the road. Bravo, Phil! We miss you, and we miss Chris. I gave the video 5 stars.
One of the worst tragedies of the '90's is that bands like Lush, The Darling Buds, The Sundays, etc... never survived, for reasons totally up to them. It's great to quit when you're the champion, but it's tough to live through the post-mortem. I'd love to see them come back after all the experience and influence the last 15+ years has had. Good music is good music. We NEED bands like this to reset the levels. God bless you Lush.
Spooky released a new album (double CD) titled "Open" which for the best part has some awsome stuff and a few not so good tracks so check it out, you will get some of that old skool Spooky that you missed, I know I did!
@ryokoosha The best music I heard in my life was when I was a teenager in the mid-nineties. I never stopped living that way. I'll always listen to nothing but the best music.
@ryokoosha Ever heard MEW? Anyways, SUNDAYS sorta mainstreamed their sound. There was a time in the 90s when our generation was open to that kind of etherial thing. Its a mood and a time. But theres alot coming out of the Nordic countries these days.
I really didn't think much could be done to improve upon the Lush sound, but I stand happily corrected. That said... I've read that the 1st EP/next CD that they released was over produced thanks to the wall-of-sound credentials of the dude from the Cocteau Twins. When I saw them live, I was too young/inebriated to remember them 18 years later. Pity, as this will never be again. :(
Every time I see this video, particularly around the 5:45 mark, I kick myself squarely in the seat of my pants for not seeing them when they were in Saint Louis.
The version on the record was a great. Somehow, this version manages to top that.
Check out "We" by arundhati Roy. It's an emotional talk about conflict around the world. They use a lot of great music from massive attack and lush, to make it into practically a music video. It's intense... One of my favorite documentaries.
An emotional talk about conflict around the world? Uh oh. Why do I suspect it's blame America, white males, capitalism, and Christianity? But maybe, as you say, the music is cool.
I absolutely love this song, I first heard it on the Doom Generation soundtrack and I never knew it had footage to go along with it. Thank you so much for posting this!!!
Awesome remix, I have this on my Hypocrite single. However, I never saw this video until I saw it here. Is the first part of the footage shot in Atlanta? Some of the scenery looking very familiar such as what seems to be the Bank of America building and footage of traveling south on I-75/85 about half a mile south of the North Avenue exit. I could be wrong, or maybe not?
Yes, you're right, it's Atlanta (midtown), 14th street. I live right around there. This must've been their '96 tour where they played at The Point (a now defunct club in little five points), which they sold out & I couldn't see them.
Actually, in 96 they were at the masq, and I count myself very lucky to have seen them there. I also saw them at the Cotton Club (the old one) many years earlier (91 or 92?). The Point was easily my favorite venue. saw many, many bands there. I miss Lush (and the point) so much my heart hurts.
I also saw them in 1996 at the Masq., probably the exact same show. I think Mojave3 and Scheer were there supporting. I also saw them at the Variety Playhouse, I want to say it was in 1994. Weezer and a mediocre band called the Dambuilders opened up. I'd never heard of Weezer before, but on the strength of their set, I bought their first album. Lush put on an awesome set. I miss them immensely.
Good work than man. I love the fact that the vinyl of split has a totaly alterante cover to the cd. I wonder if the cassett has a different one again.
En ce qui me concerne c'est réellement mon groupe préféré, mais j'ai au moins pu les voir deux fois sur scène (en 1991 et 1994). Toutefois j'ai manqué le concert de la tournée Spooky (du 27 mai 92), dommage.
I've just pulled all my Lush CDs out of the attic and this has been a great re-discovery. I had this on repeat on my CD player for days at a time. The Mad Love EP was awesome. Great video, junkshopper.
"Undertow (Spooky Remix)" is on the "Hypocrit" single (4AD Records, BAD 4008 CD) which features "Hypocrit", "Love at First Sight"(a Stuart Moxham cover), "Cat's Chorus" (one of my fave Lush songs) and this remix.
One of my favorite remixes ever. I'm surprised it seems so popular - I always thought Lush fans were rare, never mind Lush fans who bought B-side discs. Thanks for the great video.
I went to that Club DV8 show, shown near the end. Went up to Miki at the bar and asked for her autograph. After she said yes, I realized I didn't have anything for her to write on so I gave her a dollar and she signed it. She got a kick out of it and wrote something about it on the dollar, of which I am sure I have since spent. Great to see the Bill & Nada's sign too.
Miki loves Chicago for its architecture, she told so. They had so much class. This is such a far reaching footage adding to the best remix of all times.
Yep, I miss this band more than any other I think, even the Smiths, who I loved.
Fantastic footage and from a time when their b-sides were just as outstanding, if not better, then the a-sides - not that they ever put a foot wrong mind......
I love this video, made with Phil's Super 8 camera. Thank God there's Youtube for us to share this.

haha... Fairly close! But it's portrays the more underlying theme. "the relationship between power and powerlessness"
No mention of Christianity, but it certainly is an eye opener. Of course, the US HAS done a great deal of good, so keep that in mind.
