  • This is a "scarce" video. =p

  • This video is a favorite on Iceland

  • i can't believe some people who think they know something about brassbands don't know brassband willebroek, it has won several times the ebbc, in 1993, 2006 and 2007, the were vice champion on the WMC in 2001 and in 2005. For shame if you don't know them and you dare to say you know brassbands

  • Schitterend!

  • just love it

  • @drumseur

They won this contest... there where over 20 off the best english brass bands and also 10 or so swiss brass bands... so not true what ur sayin... they also won from black dyke...

And they also won the contest in England!

  • @drumseur this band is a multiple european and world champion, so mind what you are saying

  • @drumseur And your auntie is a crocodile

  • @drumseur Im not sure though, and you should not forget that there are alot of good brassbands.

For example the netherlands has a few good brassbands on its own, and lets say they really are not even worse than this one. Just look everything up for example a nice indication:

  • am i the only one who on first listening for a second thought that it was a huge split note at 0:56 :P

  • This song is freakiing hard! and this band played it perfectly!

  • Amongst other favourable aspects of this performance I'd like to mention the euph. during the final chord..... I can listen to that hundreds of times and still get goosebumps all over.. Stef really sings out, great.

  • uhmich bin heute richtig gut bei laune wer will mit mir chatn oder telen

  • where are the horns!

  • There usually aren't French horns in a British-style brass band. Instead there are tenor horns.

  • what? these tenor horns just look like wagner tubas. anwyay im confuised

  • there are never french horns in a Brass Band.

  • usually the french horns would play a flugel horn in a brass band, a lot of brass bands accept them. Rarely they would accept a mellophone, like one the brass bands i'm in

  • The percussion is stressing :P

  • True, but it's lots of fun to play that part!

  • wonderfull

  • Gorgeous! It gave me goosebumps!

The Eastern Iowa Brass Band is playing this for the US Open Brass Championships in Chicago next month.

  • 3:30 wow!

  • lumineye08, its Edward gregson not william gregson, LOL

  • really d best ever!!!! i wish i could play the trombone like that

  • simply the best...

  • Fantastic stuff. Reminded me of the pieces William Gregson used to compose in the 1970s for international competition, like 'Voices of Youth.' Great stuff. Who's the composer??

  • Farr?

  • Ray Farr

  • This is the best brass band sound I have heard.

The best band in the world.

  • Excellante

  • i wasnt sure if this was a contest or a performance so i had wondered why it wasnt the typical band. it does sound great dnt get me wrong!! i was just being curious ;-)

  • since when? hahaha... sorry but as far as i know there are only ever (typicaly) 2 Eb's and 2 Bb's.. someone give they're opinion on this please!!!...

  • aaaw no french horn? =-( still amazing though

  • it's a brass band not a wind band or brass ensemble. but could somone explain the extra bass ? haha

  • dat was echt super!!

    groeten uit Nederland

  • They have the best brass sound in the world!

  • WOW!!!no comments!!!

  • This band is amazing!

  • Amazing how the cornets synchronized their vibratos.

  • god this sounds amazing!!!

  • One of the best bands.

  • is this band the best brassband in the world?

  • Brass band willebroek is awesome!

  • oh my god!!! is so nice!!great!!

  • Nice

  • I am the basstrombone. Back then i played on a Bach 50G

  • I was just going to say that it looks like a Bach. Ha so I guess my writing this is pointless now.

  • that's a real fine trombone trio!

  • who is the bass trombonist and what make is his trombone? does anyone know?

  • Just some background on Intrada: Ein feste Burg. It was written by Ray in 1988/89 for Jaguar Cars (formerly City of Coventry now disbanded). We premiered this at Spennymoor contest in the UK to rave reviews. It was interesting to watch this piece evolve. Ray used to bring little snippets to rehearsal to try.

When we played this the band were split into sections and spread around the hall. I was at the very back some 150m from the conductor.

    Thanks for refreshing the memory!!

  • Speelt deze band ook niet heel veel Bernaertsmusic? Geweldig gespeeld trouwens:)

  • deze band zowat alles. deze band is dan ook zowat héél héél goed...

  • on your question of wich cornet raf plays on...

That would be a yamaha xeno

    he's awesome

  • thanks, i heard him play in Izegem on a yamaha, but i didn't kwew what kind of yamaha.

    He's a fantastic soloist.

  • Nice arrangement-- very creative with good dynamic contrasts.

  • dude...

  • Waauw,

    this is very good,

    what a beautiful sound!!

On what kind of cornet does raf van looveren play?

  • lol yeah iv also played with Ray Farr in Bergen =)

  • On the "Best By Farr" album by Eikanger-Bjørsvik? :p

  • Ahh ... Great to hear this song played again ... I'v played this my self with Ray Farr in Bergen, Norway :)
