Dark samus is metroid prime.i know this because at the end of metroid prime1 metroid prime absorbed samus's phazon suit thus making this new samus.if you think about it dark samus is just metroid prime in a juiced up phazon suit. metroid prime is the source of phazon that is how dark samus was able to make its own planet (phaze). now you have somthing to think about lol ^_^

The SA-X didn't corrupt anything, only the parasites that formed it originally infected Samus to get her DNA.

This is my theory on how she turned female: Samus probably had Phazon in her body on the first game when Omega Pirate crashed into her, i mean come on, something that big must've messed her body up somehow while her gravity suit got messed up.

While fighting Metroid Prime, it probably sensed Samus' Phazon in the suit and herself so she took advantage of the opportunity to steal her Suit and DNA before dying.
