Makes me laugh how a member of the state (your ruling slave-masters) talk of freedom- is there anybody not able to understand to be free you cant have people rule you ?members of the state using language of liberty to promote
tyranny - they want to rule us and we want to be free - this is the fight for freedom - do you want to be free or do you
want to be ruled ? A law is a rule - if you want to be free you are at war with the state - at war with those who rule you
Ron Paul has more supporters than Obama does lol. Also more than Clinton. But the stupid masses rule America, and that is why Dr. Paul wasn't on the ballot.
It wouldn't have helped. Ron Paul never had a chance anywhere with anyone. Ron Paul is fail. Distilled fail. Concentrated fail. Ron Paul is irrelevant and is as useless to the human race as the Nazis whose social Darwinist philosophy he shared.
@Naturyl it wouldn't have helped if his name was actually on the ballot?!? uh... yeah i think it might have. if also would have helped if he was actually invited to the rest of the debates, which they excluded him from after they realized he was actually winning the debates according to texting polls done right after the debates. you think you're smart because you're voting for the most well known candidate but guess what buddy, they're well known because they're well funded by corporations.
RonPaulHelpsBlacks you go all over the internet saying bad stuff about Ron Paul then Now you turn around and say he is GOOD???? every comment you wrote now makes absolutly no sense whatsoever to me anymore! First you hate him then you love him!
Ill stick to my first thought of Ron Paul.. he is a Great Leader!
How's that. Because Ron Paul didn't win any states in 2008, people should vote for him in 2012? I don't understand the logic there (if any actually exists).
Also, how does Ron Paul "help blacks?" You're aware of the racist newsletters that were published in Ron Paul's name, right?
The Ronulans get mad when they see this video, lol. Then they go to my other videos and downrate them. It's all they can do to lash out against the truth. The Ron Paul Revolution bombed out.
Ron Paul is a nut who would obviously be popular among nuts. She is a Cynthia McKinney (however you spell that stupid bitch's name) of the ultra-right wing.
Ron Paul appeals to unabomber and Tim McVeigh types.
I should add, I do respect Dennis much more than most candidates... and the irony that you supported Gravel, who then ran for the Libertarian nomination, and knock libertarianism. Oh, and just in case you missed it those two didn't get a combined 5% of the vote in any contest. Paul finished at over 10% in 14 contests!
He finished second in 2 caucuses while the race was still on, and garnered well over a million votes in primaries alone. The revolution is coming. Rome wasn't burnt in a day!
Gravel hardly changed his positions at all when he pursued the LP nomination, so I really don't see why that should've changed your support for him.
The LP is far from a fine example of libertarianism, but that is what you get when you descend into party politics: in-fighting, and a watered down message.
SO, since you took the time to create this video, can I assume you'd prefer McCain to Paul?
No, I do not vote solely based on party identity. But some choices are deal-breakers. If your preferred candidate (presumably Ron Paul) suddenly announced that he had joined the Nazi party (for example), would you drop your support for him? I would hope so.
While libertarians are perhaps not as bad as Nazis, the principle in question is similar. I don't support candidates who join parties that are opposed to almost everything I stand for.
If I support a candidate based on their platform, then I am going to continue to support them no matter what party they choose. In fact I've never been a fan of the GOP, but when Paul launched his bid, it didn't bother me at all.
I could see you deserting Gravel if he ran for the LP (another party I'm not a fan of btw) and changed his whole platform, but he didn't. His platform was a very leftist libertarian platform from the start. There are many kinds of libertarianism out there.
I know, but what Gravel apparently failed to realize is that the American Libertarian Party doesn't have any interest in left-libertarian views. It is strictly a right-wing party and Gravel seriously compromised his credibility by getting involved with them just have to have a shot at being nominated. But Gravel wasn't nominated, because he was way too far to the left for the LP. In the end, his mistake ended up being made quite clear to him, I'm sure. No big loss, if his judgment was that poor.
The Libertarian Party is a loosely organized group with a pretty direct bottom-up character. All it would take is a half-concerted effort, and you and I could junk the whole platform and rewrite it next cycle. The LP currently has a clear schism between the traditional lib. and the left-lib. viewpoints, which is why Gravel did as well as he did, and Mary Ruwart was almost nominated.
Gravel didn't sell out, he simply sought another vehicle to prolong his message in this important race.
You have to remember the LP isn't like the two "major" parties. It still recognizes the grassroots of its ideological base. They still have a convention in which ideas are discussed and debated, not just glossed over and manicured.
Gravel, despite entering the race really late, still managed to finish 4th on the first 4 ballots (yes, they still actually vote there.) Left-libs, including runner-up Mary Ruwart, represented over 44% of the party through all 6 ballots.
Nope, wrong again, Ronulans. Libertarianism IS faith-based because it relies on private charity to supply the needs of underprivileged citizens. It revolves around a dishonest fantasy that people's conscience and "good nature" will be enough to replace social programs. LOL, as if. We tried that under Herbert Hoover and it was a failure.
As for economic coercion and slavery, you might want to argue that issue with the alarm clock, lol. Coercion is inherent to capitalism. Wage slavery is slavery.
I guess libertarianism IS faith-based, in the same way that all philosophies are faith-based. Following a philosophy requires faith in something. Libertarianism puts faith in individuals: "We The People." While statists put their faith in the government.
A lack of faith in individuals seems pretty defeatist, pessimistic, and counter to my experience. Faith in the government works out if the government is virtuous, but ultimately seems naive, and counter to 1000s of years of human history.
Governments and states are far from perfect. But that doesn't automatically make the absence of them a better alternative.
Read "Lord of the Flies" for a vision of a true libertarian society. Or Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle." Blind faith in individuals is just as misguided as blind faith in governments, for the simple and obvious reason that it is individuals who *create* and *empower* governments to begin with.
There is no escape from the dark realities of human nature.
I don't expect to escape the dark realities. I just tend to trust people that I am closer to, and can get a better understanding for, over people who are forced to sell themselves in a nationwide race. Of course if I judge them unworthy of my trust I can also chose to disassociate with them.
The problem with "a true libertarian society" is that it really could have as many different forms as a "true socialist" one. Some good, some awful, it all depends on the people who make them up.
Hoover was a progressive, and about as far from a libertarian as you can get without concentration camps (see FDR.)
If you really feel it is fantasy to believe that individuals care more for the needy than a government bureaucracy, then I feel for you. You really need to find a better community.
Coercion is inherent in life. The difference is that in Socialist nations, the state holds a monopoly on coercion, while in freer nations the power is dispersed and checked by competition.
Lol, that was pretty funny but it speaks differently to me about the mass public since he won for congress at 70+%. I'm not into the idea that if you win or lose something it makes you wrong or right. (Unless you're playing Jeopardy or something which has definate answers which in the real world there isn't. Only the test of time can really say for sure, and a study of history of course.)
It just goes to show that the country isn't ready for someone like Ron Paul, he wanted to make too many changes, and people are naturally afraid of that, especially the establishment. The media has the ability to marginalize a candidate if they feel if its in their best interest, in which it was and so he was silenced. If you don't believe there is a revolution going on then come to Washington D.C. on June the 21st and see it for yourself. Peace!
It just goes to show that the country is too smart for a crackpot like Ron Paul.
Ron Paul wants to return America to the Good Old Days: insider trading, starvation of the elderly, filth in our food, racial oppression, rampant work injuries, sweatshops...
na just goes to show you that if you lie you can get votes, even though I don't like ron paul. =/ you may hate mccain but at least he doesn't lie like romney.
what don't you understand about the constitution-everything I guess. Sad and scary. You probably think we live in a democracy. Abhored by the founding fathers Jefferson called it the next to socialism. Constitutional Republic it what it is supposed to be. Get ready for 4 more years of losing your freedoms and increased tax as for the rest of you I will not pay anymore taxes and propose the rest of patriots to do the same. IRS illegal Federal Reserve illegal
You sadly let mainstream media control you.. Let me ask you this: What most concerns you in the election? is it freedom, is it health care? is it the value of our currency? Is it upholding the constitution? is it bringing our troops home. Whatever it is, search his position on that issue and you may be surprised.
Additionally it is important to understand that When one thinks something is impossible or When they think nothing can stop them even if it seems improbable THEY ARE ALWAYS RIGHT.
If you gotta vote for a sure winner, then why waste your time voting?
Democracy means you vote for someone who represent your views.
Ron Paul represent the supporter's view, they vote him also honoring democracy.
So those who are asking why Ron Paul's having enthusiastic grass root supporters, check him out, he may be saying what your views more than you think. Listen before you criticise.
no reason to make a vid on this. In other news personally i disagree with paul on many issues but i RESPECT him i just likje gravel and kucinich better. Also i was distracted by edwards for a while too
Yes it would be a tragedy to have a fair election, lowered taxes, soldiers in america defending their borders, instead of the Bush Cartel oil pump facilities. You too have your head in your ass when it comes to commonsense. Bush and his pedophile friends love individuals such as you to help keep the wheels of New World Order in motion. The election is rigged, the polls are rigged and you have ben frigged. Youd best get your kids fitted in a green uniform...theyll need it. RP2008
True, and I'm not disputing that. Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich had the same problem. The only reason I focused on Ron Paul in this video is that I don't like his ideas. A similar video could be made about Kucinich or Gravel by someone who doesn't like their ideas.
I overstand. Who needs freedom and individual rights and liberties protected? I know as a working person I sleep snug knowing the taxes coming out of my paycheck help the warfare and welfare state. What's the problem with these people? Geesh.
May I ask what is so crazy about his ideas? I think he promotes individualism more than any other candidate. I disagree with him on abortion, but you should never look for consistency in anyone. By the way, Gravel makes a great point in wiping out the income tax, but I'd like to know how he would do that and promote Universal Coverage along with strengthen the Social Security system in his term or terms as president. Kucinich is a nice guy, but his policies remind me too much of Jimmy Carter.
So you be-lie-ve the fox???uh bobbyusbombs??you have been with mcfascist and his capaign again huh? Faux news has molded your views and opinions i see.
McCain will show Iran who the boss is. His days of torture as a prisoner in Vietnam have hardened him into the type of leader the world needs... an iron fisted one who can bomb Iran without delay and remove more freedoms from the American people so they cannot attempt to take power away from the neocons. McCain's promises of more wars should help the world understand that they cannot defy the will of the mighty and righteous USA. As McCain sang...Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran.
Bomb bomb bomb, bomb, bomb, Iran. Bomb bomb I-raahahahannn. =) classic. We need someone to just blow the shit of people who act supid. We need the RFID chip so we can keep track of these nuts, and we need some camps incase they start acting like rabid monkeys - we can just lock them all up and feed them the shit they make their soldiers eat, becuase they are cheap, freedom loving, bastards.
anarchy is term you may wish to review. He is of this persuasion. Corporations are owned by individuals. You, Me, my neighbor. Each of us share int hese corporations, are employed by them, and live from them. Corporations are the adult versions of organizations. Ron paul is a revertist. He wants to go back to the start of what we now have. WITH NO real plan to get us here safely again.
You opinions are great. But -they are opinions. In this society, we expect people who are pushing for the revelament of all opinions, the halting of opinion sensorship, to at least respect the opinions of others. That's only common sensical in reality. To get respect, give respect. To say that it is a sham or shame of an election pinpoints your dissent for other's opinions.
You spew irrational critisicm like a fountain of ingorant, bubbling, shit. Why would you go into a video and use such blantant filth, prejudice, and better-than-you language to convince someone of your point? You display yourself as an angry little man with angry little ways.
I never thought he would win...but I will still vote for him in my primary. I have a renewed appreciation for America because of him and I know that I'll have no blood on my hands...and I never bought the whole "defending my freedoms" war cry...I ain't that stupid. (almighty dollar)
They invaded countless comments areas to rant about how their candidate was all but the second comming and how his winning was inevitable and we were fools if we didn't join them.
Sounds like McCain will get most of Romney's delegates, funny thing is how Ron Paul is still alive and crawling as every other candidate has been drawing out. Huck will probably be next. I'd rather see Huck over McCain. Maybe Huck and Paul could team it up.
There was this smartass I went to school with. He used to go around making of fun of people, being rude, showing everyone what a bad sport he was.
One day he got in the wrong guy's face. The "wrong guy" stuffed him into a locker and shoved the locker out a 2nd story window (no joke!).
Smartass spent the next six months in traction, sucking his dinner through a straw. The "wrong guy" was out of juvy before smartass was out of traction.
Okay, not everybody agrees on humor. I don't like jokes about Mike Gravel any more than you like this joke about Ron Paul. But I'm not going to suggest that "the universe" is going to mess you up if you make a joke about Gravel. You're calling me rude, but you don't see what you are doing as rude?
Actually a true story. No, he's not doing time. he's dead. He was killed in a drug deal that went bad in 1982. But he did actually get out of juvy before the smartass got out of traction. Like I said, things sort themselves out. There is a natural justice in the universe and it behoves us to remember it.
Just saw news on MSN home page that Romney is out. Oh, they talk about Huckabee, but NO MENTION of Ron Paul, even though it's a 3-man race. I wonder if McClown and the Huckster were both killed in a plane crash leaving only RP, would the media MENTION hime then? The Sheeple are being lead down the path while the CFR is installing McCain as president.
Also RP has around 42 delegates driving a wedge between McWar & MittEmpire. Remember, One must secure over 50% of the delegates to win the nomination. At the rate RP's going no one will get over 50%.
For your info RP does not oppose the Civil Rights Act and is in favor of helping blacks (which crowd our prisons) from trumped-up drug possession charges that whites get away with.
people who are insecure and lacking in certain areas will try to elevate or fulfill thier ego by putting down others. maybe trying to align with a supposed winner. No ron paul will ot "win" this election that however doesnt define him as "loser" America isnt crazy, but they sure dont much access to truth!!!!!!
Hey you forgot to mention how fucking scared everyone should be if McCain is the nominee. That's right, you, me and your little brother are going to Iran, Pakistan or Syria to die for special interests. Yay!!!
I don't disagree with you. I don't like McCain any better than I like Ron Paul. McCain wants to continue pursuing these crazy wars and Ron Paul wants to take apart the federal government. I don't want either of those things to happen, because they are both disasters.
Then how come "No Child left behind" is a dismal failure? The more money they put in, the worse education gets. Just more DC Bureaucrats telling the States the wrong things to do. One-size-fits-all doesn't work. The Constitution leaves Education to the States.
Plain and simple Mr. Paul is a huge success. He shows us ALL, we contribute to this madness. Its all or nothing,I am writing Ron Paul for president on my ballot,I'm not wasting my vote.
Remember that the POW who were with McCain in concentration camps in Vietnam are furious that the 32 tapes sealed by our Gov't shows he betrayed the United States, because he didnt want to be tortured, and our Vets are also disgusted with him. I will take their word for it over a traitor to our Nation McCain must know Commie Jane.
Actually, no. I assume you're saying that because I used terms like "epic fail" and some funny sound effects. I happen to like some of the elements of youth culture and their humor. But unfortunately for you, I'm no kid. I don't just point and laugh, I also have an understanding of the issues at stake - and they are quite serious.
you need to read on how the election works dude...Lincoln won the GOP with only 10% of the delegates going into the convention. A vote for McCain is a vote for Hillary or Obama. The republican party is dead since on Tuesday 27% of the total voters that showed up voted for republicans.Don't believe the delegate counts on the MSM...unless someone hits the magic number no one will win on the GOP nod on first ballet
I am WELL aware of how the elections work. I am not unread. The 10% solution was becuase Lincoln was great. Trully great. His platform was to help people. NOT take everything from them, as would be the effect of taking OSHA, USDA, FBI, IRS, and so on. It may benifit the 7% of spoiled rotten, sister-bertha-better than you types but what about the ones who NEED, and MUST HAVE support. you going to help them?
You mean the OSHA, which undermines private enterprise in the USA, the USDA which kills small scale farming, the FBI which has a long history of intimidating government reformers, and the IRS which has a strange ability to soak the middle class for every penny while leaving the wealthy unscathed. So honestly, by cutting government who is taking from who?
OSHA "undermines private enterprise" by making sure employers aren't free to abuse, injure, maim, poison, and kill their employees for profit. Maybe you don't work in an industry which involves any danger, so maybe you don't care if some factory worker gets his arms hacked off in a machine that wasn't properly maintained because a money-grubbing employer wanted to save a nickel. But some of us do care. Some of us understand that "private enterprise" is not a field of daisies.
Naturyl: "field of daises" vs "nightmare dangerzone requiring the state to overmother her children = false dilemma. You constantly imply that classical liberals promise utopia, same kind of crap rhetorical trick. Only a complete fool believes in utopia. I've worked all my life in "dangerous" jobs. I have never met ANY construction worker with half a brain that didn't hate OSHA & know what a scam it is. If you don't like danger, can't handle yourself or have a crappy "boss" QUIT! No thanks mom.
If you review the phraseology and character of those who support paul and those who speak against him -the decision is clear. While promoting a Utopia, in which people are good and government is bad - they disregard ANYTHING the government does that is good. Construction workers hate OSHA? You are wrong. OSHA makes sure that their employers provide harnesses, gear, and safety euipment which saves their lives. Before Osha, people were actually buried in bridges that they were working on.
anscfoster: Nice bluffing, very impressive. Utopia is a straw man. No one with half a brain believes in utopia. Governments are made of people, if I were an idiot I guess I would use the idiot phrases you put in my mouth. Yes, the Gov does good things, because they prevent at gunpoint anyone who would have done the job anyway from doing it. You may find ignorant employees who like being nannied because they are irresponsible, NO self-contractors. If you work on a very dangerous YOU are an fool.
okay, you fixed it. So -I will comment now. All people on dangerous jobs are fools? That's silly thought. Chemicals in food processing establishment, tire plants, paint overspray -these things companies could care less about. They forced employees to work in asbestos, for years -KNOWING -what it would do. OSHA was needed, was developed, and has worked quite well. Private companies cannot monitor private companies. You know why? NO ONE WOULD PAY. Who would hire a company to monitor their company?
ansc: I said VERY dangerous jobs. I wanted to say they are fools if they work on jobs TOO dangerous for their tastes or TOO dangerous for their pay but I ran out of room & I was very tired. No one in a free society can force anyone to do anything, that's what FREE means. OSHA is a joke, it's there to infantilize the booboise, train them in resentment so they become supplicants. You don't even need something like a consumer protection agency for jobs. Don't do jobs you find TOO dangerous.
Hehe, you say "no one in a free society can force anyone to do anything," but you fail to notice almost everyone in this country is FORCED to go to work or face homelessness. That's not freedom, but I've never met a libertarian who is interested in solving the problem.
Then no one owes you anything, either. I think "every man for himself" types like you should be able to opt of out of paying taxes - but you would also have to stop using ALL government services. Is that a deal you'd want to make? keep in mind that you won't be able to move, eat, or breathe. Government provides roads, food safety inspections, and clean air - but nobody OWES you those things, right?
Naturyl. No one escapes taxes first off. They conterfeit their own mooney, there's sales tax, gas tax pays for the roads & they tax & regulate the beejesus out of business causing all prices to rise god knows how high Secondly, they stole all of that. Of course others could do it better. I would MUCH rather have competent non-thieves do ALL the thing you mentioned, and in fact they have & are doing DESPITE gov hanging on them like an albatross.
Taxation is not "theft." You guys can keep saying that until you're blue in the face, but it won't make it true. Taxation is the legitimate obligation of the individual to pay for the society which allows that individual to function. You implicitly agree to this social contract by continuing to live in the society which upholds it. Don't like taxes? I hear El Salvador is nice this time of year...
"Taxation is the legitimate obligation of the individual to pay for the society which allows that individual to function"
YOU don't speak propaganda, eh? ha! When you collect money with guns or people with guns come from DC to tell you to go to latin America or they train someone to spout their propagande. That's theft. Especially when they waste the money & use the money to murder people all over the world.
Guess what, though? The guns are only necessary because of people like YOU.
When the members of a society cannot be trusted to honor (or even acknowledge) their obligation to support that society, then enforcement becomes necessary.
It's people with your views who we can thank for the IRS. If people could be trusted to give back voluntarily, we wouldn't need tax collectors.
It didn't start off this way. Lincoln had to kill 650,000 men to even start the process of making a koolaid drinker like you. Holy god!??! Listen to what you are saying! When was the IRS formed, who and how much did they use to charge?!?
Oh, so you're a Confederate apologist too, eh? Figures. I bet you think Lincoln should have stayed out of the South's business and allowed them to have their all-important PROPERTY RIGHTS. Nevermind that the "property" in question was human beings. I guess the omnibenevolent market (pbuh) would have magically eliminated slavery anyway, right?
Oh, god it's tiresome, yes I'm an idiot who lves the CSA, oh how I long for the old plantation.....they were three/fifths of a person according to US law, becasue Lincoln figured out in 1863 how toiu use blacks doesn't make his cause h=just all of a sudden
The market DID eliminate slavery you..(temper, temper) slavery is an idiotic way to produce items. The north's combo of wage slavery & a relatively free market system, produced the vast wealth, which, of course Lincoln STOLE & used to CRUSH the South, even though his Generals (with the exception) of a couple were far inferior than the South's. Now we all owe the murderer's money they tell you in school.
You gotta be kidding me. Slavery is an incredibly effective way to produce items, and that's why the rich plantation owners who were making a killing on it wanted to keep it. As for "Lincoln's wage slavery," we still have it. The cool thing about wage slavery is that the slave-holders (aka employers) don't have to pay for housing or health care. It's not quite as profitable as the plantation days (thanks to workplace regulations), but the ownership class are still making out like bandits.
You are clueless, how do spill out falsehoods so quickly, and manage to evade every point why was the North insanely richer than the south then?? Why if they were so rich could they not defend their own turf?
Naturyl: "Homelessness" is a ridiculous word. You mean "houselessness". Even in this corporatist dictatorship there are still squater's rights. In a truly free society, rich landowners & governments & banks couldn't own EVERYTHING as they do know. Only governments can enforce monopolies of any kind.
Are you kidding me? Ron Paul wants to make THE AIR private property. I'm serious, look it up - that's his idea about how to deal with air pollution. Ron Paul and other libertarians believe in private property rights above everything. They believe "ownership" (for those who can afford it) solves all problems. I guarantee you there would be no "squatter's rights" under libertarians. Are there no workhouses? Are there no prisons?
Naturyl: Of course there would be squatter's rights, it's a common idea of justice. If you have SO much land you don't even know whose on it, than where that squatter is, if he's there for a certain period undetected, it's his. An ancient and upheld judicial ruling. What Dr Paul means is that you OWN your lungs, No one is allowed to damage your lungs without paying restitution, triple would be nice. If you don't have property rights you don't have ANY rights. We are not spirit creatures.
No, clearly you didn't read Ron Paul's proposal. What he actually thinks is that making air private property will encourage polluters to take care of their own air. It's typical libertarian thinking - that big business will somehow magically become concerned about things they have never been concerned about in all of human history.
As for squatters rights, since when do libertarians care about "a common idea of justice?" That's leftist language. Libertarians will simply jail squatters.
Yeah, I do. And they are not leftists. What's your point?
The US is the only major nation which uses the term "liberal" incorrectly. I am considered a "liberal" under the incorrect US usage, but I'm not a classical liberal.
Naturyl: Ah, very good, you know you aren't liberal. If we could get the rest of you to admit it maybe we could get our word back. Real liberals (US) want equality UNDER the LAW, NATURAL law. Extreme conservatives want a feudalist state in short. What "leftists" want is equality, equality of outcome, but of course the really special "leftists" will be MORE equal. You know, oink, oink, ha ha
No, I'm definitely not "liberal" in the libertarian sense. I am an economic leftist. Come on, didn't you notice? LOL.
And yes, some leftists will always fall victim to an "Animal Farm" mentality. That's just human nature. But not all of us are like that. And you bet I want "equality of outcome," because outcome is all that matters to me. I don't believe in opportunity or "free will" or the rest of that fiction. I'm also a naturalistic determinist. :)
"Yeah, and I've also tried to explain the legitimacy of governments and social obligations to people who don't understand that, either" Well there's your problem evolution & markets work. ha ha
Evolution and free markets are closely related, because both are naturally-occurring phenomena. But that doesn't mean human beings don't need to *regulate* both. Are you aware that cancer is an evolutionary process? It is exactly that, but do we let huge mutant tumors run their course just because it's a natural consequence of evolution? Nope, and we shouldn't let markets run wild, either, because people get hurt.
Which human beings & why? Do you think chemo is a great thing. are you sure you would like to try it? Do you not believe that if we led more natural, less CONTROLLED lives we would see less cancer?
owned?!? that's the best howler yet. what are your sleeping hours? these are not mine. There is no way on earth you have "owned" anything. when can we get a postponement for further discussion (i was going to call it battle, but you are too weak)
"certainly wouldn't want to be in the position of having to suggest that maybe cancer isn't all bad. Who am I to decide for you that you shouldn't have to be eaten up with big festering"
oh all knowing sage, I guess you are completely "familiar" (that probably means you know his name) Lao Tzu?
I haven't "mocked the efficiency of the free market." Why would I do that, when I don't give a rat's ass about its efficiency? I'm concerned about the *justice* and *fairness* of the free market. Sure, free markets produce wealth more efficiently than any other system. But I couldn't care less about producing wealth if the bulk of it accrues only to a privileged minority, or if anyone is denied the basic essentials of life.
You most certainly DID mock the whole idea of the free market creating things. You likened it to mysticism, Tao-master.
And adults you make can't make statements, get called to back them up & then say "I don't care" You happen to be right about one thing, morality is the MOST important subject. And you are on the wrong side there as well. FREEDOM is moral. NOT whatever system you advocate. Lets here about that system shall we, so you can be on the defence for once.

The Logic is this:
1. I like him
2. This is America and i choose to like him
3. He is for the Good of All people not just Black or White!
He is a Great man and i will vote for him because Minorities Love Him!

RON PAUL 2012!
RONPAULHELPSBLACKS 2 years ago
How's that. Because Ron Paul didn't win any states in 2008, people should vote for him in 2012? I don't understand the logic there (if any actually exists).
Also, how does Ron Paul "help blacks?" You're aware of the racist newsletters that were published in Ron Paul's name, right?

maverickxlc 3 years ago
I should add, I do respect Dennis much more than most candidates... and the irony that you supported Gravel, who then ran for the Libertarian nomination, and knock libertarianism. Oh, and just in case you missed it those two didn't get a combined 5% of the vote in any contest. Paul finished at over 10% in 14 contests!
He finished second in 2 caucuses while the race was still on, and garnered well over a million votes in primaries alone. The revolution is coming. Rome wasn't burnt in a day!
StudebakerHawk1982 3 years ago
I dropped my support for Gravel immediately when he defected from the Democratic party to the Loonytarian one.
But thanks for reminding me to edit the description on the video to remove Gravel.
Naturyl 3 years ago
So you solely vote based on party identity?
Gravel hardly changed his positions at all when he pursued the LP nomination, so I really don't see why that should've changed your support for him.
The LP is far from a fine example of libertarianism, but that is what you get when you descend into party politics: in-fighting, and a watered down message.
SO, since you took the time to create this video, can I assume you'd prefer McCain to Paul?
StudebakerHawk1982 3 years ago
No, I do not vote solely based on party identity. But some choices are deal-breakers. If your preferred candidate (presumably Ron Paul) suddenly announced that he had joined the Nazi party (for example), would you drop your support for him? I would hope so.
While libertarians are perhaps not as bad as Nazis, the principle in question is similar. I don't support candidates who join parties that are opposed to almost everything I stand for.
I don't support McCain. My vote will go to Obama.
Naturyl 3 years ago
If I support a candidate based on their platform, then I am going to continue to support them no matter what party they choose. In fact I've never been a fan of the GOP, but when Paul launched his bid, it didn't bother me at all.
I could see you deserting Gravel if he ran for the LP (another party I'm not a fan of btw) and changed his whole platform, but he didn't. His platform was a very leftist libertarian platform from the start. There are many kinds of libertarianism out there.
StudebakerHawk1982 3 years ago
I know, but what Gravel apparently failed to realize is that the American Libertarian Party doesn't have any interest in left-libertarian views. It is strictly a right-wing party and Gravel seriously compromised his credibility by getting involved with them just have to have a shot at being nominated. But Gravel wasn't nominated, because he was way too far to the left for the LP. In the end, his mistake ended up being made quite clear to him, I'm sure. No big loss, if his judgment was that poor.
Naturyl 3 years ago
The Libertarian Party is a loosely organized group with a pretty direct bottom-up character. All it would take is a half-concerted effort, and you and I could junk the whole platform and rewrite it next cycle. The LP currently has a clear schism between the traditional lib. and the left-lib. viewpoints, which is why Gravel did as well as he did, and Mary Ruwart was almost nominated.
Gravel didn't sell out, he simply sought another vehicle to prolong his message in this important race.
StudebakerHawk1982 3 years ago
You have to remember the LP isn't like the two "major" parties. It still recognizes the grassroots of its ideological base. They still have a convention in which ideas are discussed and debated, not just glossed over and manicured.
Gravel, despite entering the race really late, still managed to finish 4th on the first 4 ballots (yes, they still actually vote there.) Left-libs, including runner-up Mary Ruwart, represented over 44% of the party through all 6 ballots.

It is good to see we're on to the second phase.
You really should make a better attempt to educate yourself on the ideals of a philosophy before you try to describe it.
Libertarianism is not faith based, nor Utopian, and it focuses on the individual as the most important moral unit.
Kucinich's brand of Socialism, on the other hand, is Utopian, and epitomizes economic coercion and slavery.
StudebakerHawk1982 3 years ago
Nope, wrong again, Ronulans. Libertarianism IS faith-based because it relies on private charity to supply the needs of underprivileged citizens. It revolves around a dishonest fantasy that people's conscience and "good nature" will be enough to replace social programs. LOL, as if. We tried that under Herbert Hoover and it was a failure.
As for economic coercion and slavery, you might want to argue that issue with the alarm clock, lol. Coercion is inherent to capitalism. Wage slavery is slavery.
Naturyl 3 years ago
I guess libertarianism IS faith-based, in the same way that all philosophies are faith-based. Following a philosophy requires faith in something. Libertarianism puts faith in individuals: "We The People." While statists put their faith in the government.
A lack of faith in individuals seems pretty defeatist, pessimistic, and counter to my experience. Faith in the government works out if the government is virtuous, but ultimately seems naive, and counter to 1000s of years of human history.
StudebakerHawk1982 3 years ago
Governments and states are far from perfect. But that doesn't automatically make the absence of them a better alternative.
Read "Lord of the Flies" for a vision of a true libertarian society. Or Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle." Blind faith in individuals is just as misguided as blind faith in governments, for the simple and obvious reason that it is individuals who *create* and *empower* governments to begin with.
There is no escape from the dark realities of human nature.
Naturyl 3 years ago
I don't expect to escape the dark realities. I just tend to trust people that I am closer to, and can get a better understanding for, over people who are forced to sell themselves in a nationwide race. Of course if I judge them unworthy of my trust I can also chose to disassociate with them.
The problem with "a true libertarian society" is that it really could have as many different forms as a "true socialist" one. Some good, some awful, it all depends on the people who make them up.
StudebakerHawk1982 3 years ago
Hoover was a progressive, and about as far from a libertarian as you can get without concentration camps (see FDR.)
If you really feel it is fantasy to believe that individuals care more for the needy than a government bureaucracy, then I feel for you. You really need to find a better community.
Coercion is inherent in life. The difference is that in Socialist nations, the state holds a monopoly on coercion, while in freer nations the power is dispersed and checked by competition.
StudebakerHawk1982 3 years ago
"I'm not into the idea that if you win or lose something it makes you wrong or right."

Peace!

True, and I'm not disputing that. Mike Gravel and Dennis Kucinich had the same problem. The only reason I focused on Ron Paul in this video is that I don't like his ideas. A similar video could be made about Kucinich or Gravel by someone who doesn't like their ideas.

His days of torture as a prisoner in Vietnam have hardened him into the type of leader the world needs... an iron fisted one who can bomb Iran without delay and remove more freedoms from the American people so they cannot attempt to take power away from the neocons. you need to read on how the election works dude...Lincoln won the GOP with only 10% of the delegates going into the convention. A vote for McCain is a vote for Hillary or Obama. The republican party is dead since on Tuesday 27% of the total voters that showed up voted for republicans.Don't believe the delegate counts on the MSM...unless someone hits the magic number no one will win on the GOP nod on first ballet
stafferoony 4 years ago
I am WELL aware of how the elections work. I am not unread. The 10% solution was becuase Lincoln was great. Trully great. His platform was to help people. NOT take everything from them, as would be the effect of taking OSHA, USDA, FBI, IRS, and so on. It may benifit the 7% of spoiled rotten, sister-bertha-better than you types but what about the ones who NEED, and MUST HAVE support. you going to help them?
anscfoster 4 years ago
You mean the OSHA, which undermines private enterprise in the USA, the USDA which kills small scale farming, the FBI which has a long history of intimidating government reformers, and the IRS which has a strange ability to soak the middle class for every penny while leaving the wealthy unscathed. So honestly, by cutting government who is taking from who?
mushmouth4life 4 years ago
OSHA "undermines private enterprise" by making sure employers aren't free to abuse, injure, maim, poison, and kill their employees for profit. Maybe you don't work in an industry which involves any danger, so maybe you don't care if some factory worker gets his arms hacked off in a machine that wasn't properly maintained because a money-grubbing employer wanted to save a nickel. But some of us do care. Some of us understand that "private enterprise" is not a field of daisies.
Naturyl 4 years ago
Naturyl: "field of daises" vs "nightmare dangerzone requiring the state to overmother her children = false dilemma. You constantly imply that classical liberals promise utopia, same kind of crap rhetorical trick. Only a complete fool believes in utopia. I've worked all my life in "dangerous" jobs. mpolzkill 4 years ago
Before Osha, people were actually buried in bridges that they were working on.
anscfoster 4 years ago
anscfoster: Nice bluffing, very impressive. If you work on a very dangerous YOU are an fool.

ansc: I said VERY dangerous jobs. Don't do jobs you find TOO dangerous.
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Hehe, you say "no one in a free society can force anyone to do anything," but you fail to notice almost everyone in this country is FORCED to go to work or face homelessness. That's not freedom, but I've never met a libertarian who is interested in solving the problem.
Naturyl 4 years ago
Now you are wanting free housing?
anscfoster 4 years ago
No, a guaranteed minimum income.
Naturyl 4 years ago
well then join the government. =)

Naturyl: No one owes you ANYTHING.
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Then no one owes you anything, either. I think "every man for himself" types like you should be able to opt of out of paying taxes - but you would also have to stop using ALL government services. Is that a deal you'd want to make? keep in mind that you won't be able to move, eat, or breathe. Government provides roads, food safety inspections, and clean air - but nobody OWES you those things, right?
Naturyl 4 years ago
Naturyl. No one escapes taxes first off. They conterfeit their own mooney, there's sales tax, gas tax pays for the roads & they tax & regulate the beejesus out of business causing all prices to rise god knows how high Secondly, they stole all of that. Of course others could do it better. I would MUCH rather have competent non-thieves do ALL the thing you mentioned, and in fact they have & are doing DESPITE gov hanging on them like an albatross.
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Taxation is not "theft." You guys can keep saying that until you're blue in the face, but it won't make it true. Taxation is the legitimate obligation of the individual to pay for the society which allows that individual to function. You implicitly agree to this social contract by continuing to live in the society which upholds it. Don't like taxes? I hear El Salvador is nice this time of year...
Naturyl 4 years ago
"Taxation is the legitimate obligation of the individual to pay for the society which allows that individual to function"
YOU don't speak propaganda, eh? ha! When you collect money with guns or people with guns come from DC to tell you to go to latin America or they train someone to spout their propagande. That's theft. Especially when they waste the money & use the money to murder people all over the world.
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Guess what, though? The guns are only necessary because of people like YOU.
When the members of a society cannot be trusted to honor (or even acknowledge) their obligation to support that society, then enforcement becomes necessary.
It's people with your views who we can thank for the IRS. If people could be trusted to give back voluntarily, we wouldn't need tax collectors.
Naturyl 4 years ago
It didn't start off this way. Lincoln had to kill 650,000 men to even start the process of making a koolaid drinker like you. Holy god!??! Listen to what you are saying! When was the IRS formed, who and how much did they use to charge?!?
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Oh, so you're a Confederate apologist too, eh? Figures. I bet you think Lincoln should have stayed out of the South's business and allowed them to have their all-important PROPERTY RIGHTS. Nevermind that the "property" in question was human beings. I guess the omnibenevolent market (pbuh) would have magically eliminated slavery anyway, right?
Naturyl 4 years ago
Oh, god it's tiresome, yes I'm an idiot who lves the CSA, oh how I long for the old plantation.....they were three/fifths of a person according to US law, becasue Lincoln figured out in 1863 how toiu use blacks doesn't make his cause h=just all of a sudden
mpolzkill 4 years ago
The market DID eliminate slavery you..(temper, temper) slavery is an idiotic way to produce items. The north's combo of wage slavery & a relatively free market system, produced the vast wealth, which, of course Lincoln STOLE & used to CRUSH the South, even though his Generals (with the exception) of a couple were far inferior than the South's. Now we all owe the murderer's money they tell you in school.
mpolzkill 4 years ago
You gotta be kidding me. Slavery is an incredibly effective way to produce items, and that's why the rich plantation owners who were making a killing on it wanted to keep it. As for "Lincoln's wage slavery," we still have it. The cool thing about wage slavery is that the slave-holders (aka employers) don't have to pay for housing or health care. It's not quite as profitable as the plantation days (thanks to workplace regulations), but the ownership class are still making out like bandits.
Naturyl 4 years ago
You are clueless, how do spill out falsehoods so quickly, and manage to evade every point why was the North insanely richer than the south then?? Why if they were so rich could they not defend their own turf?
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Naturyl: "Homelessness" is a ridiculous word. You mean "houselessness". Even in this corporatist dictatorship there are still squater's rights. In a truly free society, rich landowners & governments & banks couldn't own EVERYTHING as they do know. Only governments can enforce monopolies of any kind.
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Are you kidding me? Ron Paul wants to make THE AIR private property. I'm serious, look it up - that's his idea about how to deal with air pollution. Ron Paul and other libertarians believe in private property rights above everything. They believe "ownership" (for those who can afford it) solves all problems. I guarantee you there would be no "squatter's rights" under libertarians. Are there no workhouses? Are there no prisons?
Naturyl 4 years ago
Naturyl: Of course there would be squatter's rights, it's a common idea of justice. If you have SO much land you don't even know whose on it, than where that squatter is, if he's there for a certain period undetected, it's his. An ancient and upheld judicial ruling. What Dr Paul means is that you OWN your lungs, No one is allowed to damage your lungs without paying restitution, triple would be nice. If you don't have property rights you don't have ANY rights. We are not spirit creatures.
mpolzkill 4 years ago
No, clearly you didn't read Ron Paul's proposal. What he actually thinks is that making air private property will encourage polluters to take care of their own air. It's typical libertarian thinking - that big business will somehow magically become concerned about things they have never been concerned about in all of human history.
As for squatters rights, since when do libertarians care about "a common idea of justice?" That's leftist language. Libertarians will simply jail squatters.

Naturyl: please. Do you know what "classical liberals" are?
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Yeah, I do. And they are not leftists. What's your point?
The US is the only major nation which uses the term "liberal" incorrectly. I am considered a "liberal" under the incorrect US usage, but I'm not a classical liberal.
Naturyl 4 years ago
Naturyl: Ah, very good, you know you aren't liberal. If we could get the rest of you to admit it maybe we could get our word back. Real liberals (US) want equality UNDER the LAW, NATURAL law. Extreme conservatives want a feudalist state in short. What "leftists" want is equality, equality of outcome, but of course the really special "leftists" will be MORE equal. You know, oink, oink, ha ha
mpolzkill 4 years ago
No, I'm definitely not "liberal" in the libertarian sense. I am an economic leftist. Come on, didn't you notice? LOL.
And yes, some leftists will always fall victim to an "Animal Farm" mentality. That's just human nature. But not all of us are like that. And you bet I want "equality of outcome," because outcome is all that matters to me. I don't believe in opportunity or "free will" or the rest of that fiction. I'm also a naturalistic determinist. :)

HAve you ever tried to explain evolution to someone who doesn't understand science?
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Yeah, and I've also tried to explain the legitimacy of governments and social obligations to people who don't understand that, either.
Naturyl 4 years ago
"Yeah, and I've also tried to explain the legitimacy of governments and social obligations to people who don't understand that, either" Well there's your problem evolution & markets work. ha ha
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Evolution and free markets are closely related, because both are naturally-occurring phenomena. But that doesn't mean human beings don't need to *regulate* both. Are you aware that cancer is an evolutionary process? It is exactly that, but do we let huge mutant tumors run their course just because it's a natural consequence of evolution? Nope, and we shouldn't let markets run wild, either, because people get hurt.
Naturyl 4 years ago
Which human beings & why? Do you think chemo is a great thing. are you sure you would like to try it? Do you not believe that if we led more natural, less CONTROLLED lives we would see less cancer?
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Oh, so now eeeeevil government interference causes cancer, too? I should have guessed.
Naturyl 4 years ago
OK, so you're just a facetious goofball. Goodnight, see you later.
mpolzkill 4 years ago
Owned.
Naturyl 4 years ago
owned?!? that's the best howler yet. what are your sleeping hours? these are not mine. There is no way on earth you have "owned" anything. when can we get a postponement for further discussion (i was going to call it battle, but you are too weak)
mpolzkill 4 years ago
"certainly wouldn't want to be in the position of having to suggest that maybe cancer isn't all bad. Who am I to decide for you that you shouldn't have to be eaten up with big festering"
oh all knowing sage, I guess you are completely "familiar" (that probably means you know his name) Lao Tzu?
mpolzkill 4 years ago
OK, game on. ONE point at a time, so you don't flood the line with your horseshit
No.1 You have mocked the efficiency of the free market & then you claim:
"Slavery is an incredibly effective way to produce items"
Do you have any evidence to back this statement up?
mpolzkill 4 years ago
I haven't "mocked the efficiency of the free market." Why would I do that, when I don't give a rat's ass about its efficiency? I'm concerned about the *justice* and *fairness* of the free market. Sure, free markets produce wealth more efficiently than any other system. But I couldn't care less about producing wealth if the bulk of it accrues only to a privileged minority, or if anyone is denied the basic essentials of life.
Naturyl 4 years ago
You most certainly DID mock the whole idea of the free market creating things. You likened it to mysticism, Tao-master.
And adults you make can't make statements, get called to back them up & then say "I don't care" You happen to be right about one thing, morality is the MOST important subject. And you are on the wrong side there as well. FREEDOM is moral. NOT whatever system you advocate. Lets here about that system shall we, so you can be on the defence for once.
