Mr McPhail If u do get the chance to come down let me know as it would be a pleasure for a couple of the guys and myself to fish with you. Thank you All the best Seatrouteddy
Mr McPhail Thank you for reply. I would defiantly agree that method is more important than fly choice. Do you think you will be down to fish the Nith this year. Thank you Seatrouteddy
Mr McPhail Fantastic tying once again. You are an artist at the vice. I do a bit of wet fly fishing on the rivers and was looking for a fly that no one else would have. Just wondering if u have any up your sleeve? Thank you Seatrouteddy
To be honest with you I don't really have any as I have a lot of my best patterns on here but I would say by my experience it's the method used to fish them that catches the fish more than the fly at times...
Sorry to be a pest again Davie but where do you buy them? I'm wary of getting them from people who do shooting etc as they may be untreated. I've twice bought goose feathers from eBay, first time they were filthy and I didn't want to put them anywhere near the rest of my tying kit and the second time all the feathers must have been off the same wing so I couldn't pair any.
Cookshill or Veniards sell really good materials as this is where I have bought wings from over the years, and you are not a pest if I can help you just get in touch...
The primary feathers are the main and longest feathers on the wings of any bird the next are the secondary which to be honest are the ones I used, you'll find they have the better coloured fibre especially on Hen Pheasant...I would recommend that you buy the whole wings so that you can select the feathers you want...
Hello Davie, now I have another request. What about some poppers? And as always great fly and I enjoy to see you tying thiese wonderfull flies! All the best from Denmark :)
I have never tyed poppers before well not the ones that you would use for bass or pike so I don't really have any materials that I could use to tye a descent one..Maybe in the future though I could look into tying one...ATB Davie
This one was tyed for Rutland a couple of years ago and it did quite well, it also worked in Brenig too but I'm sure it would do well on both Carron and Leven..I've got a fly that I called the Carron Dabbler that works really well on both, I'm sure I have filmed it...All the best Davie
awesome work. i mostly fish dry or nymph, always have. would like a crack at the wet fly this year. how would you fish this fly davie?. wet/dry line, up river or across etc?. thanx:)
Another great tie Davie, I can see that as a great salmon fly here in Nova Scotia when the water is low, as well as a sea run brown and speckle fly, thanks for the video!
could you use frits for the body ?
MrBaldy79 19 hours ago
Hi MrBaldy79,
It's easier to get a nice mix of hackle and fritz with the micro but give it a go and see how it works out...

You such a superb fly tyer! Making those perfect wings sure is a struggle, and when you do it it looks like the easiest thing in the world.
I tie my Invictas with a pearl lureflex body, it has made my days several times by the lake...
Great job, Davie!
