  • Ska and Northern Soul ... brothers in arms ... yippieyeaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!

  • The In Crowd, bad ass tune of the day! There was this low rider car club who adopted this name, and they stood apart from the rest of the car clubs back then. One smooth tune by a silky group, and a very talented lead singer. Thank you Dobie Gray & Co. You are never forgotten! RIP brother....

  • Great song from a talented guy. RIP Dobie. Someone actually disliked it? They sell Q-tips at the pharmacy. Clean your ears out.

  • Man, there's a lot of movement on that stage! Hordes of performers split up into groups in what appears to be a kind of competition among them. Great stuff!.

  • he look's like Samuel L Jackson

  • This was the theme song of the Roman Brothers, Rick, Rudy and Robert Roman in the 60's Houston scene. We were in, we had it all, and those memories will never fade.

  • Sheer Class- the only version I like! Dobie will Live forever!!!

  • R.I.P. Dobie

  • THE MOD THEME

  • RIP Gone to sing the angels

  • Great to see Gray and his crossover audience - more, more, more.

  • RIP Loved this song. Interesting career, one of a kind voice. Love and Respect for you Dobie.

  • R.I.P. Dobie. I just saw on the news that you have passed. Thanks for this wonderful song. I have so many fond memories associated with it and LHS class of 1966.

  • I see an American who probably has some African blood. Not Black or White. God dammit, Indians are from India. Cherokees come from Georgia. Stupid european invaders called themselves white, their slaves black, and Native Americans were called Indians and Redskins. Those words are no better than the "N" word. STOP IT EVERYONE. There is only one race...the human race. NOW YOU KNOW.

  • @EarthAdvocate1 Yes. If you read any history of Europe at all, you find that there were so many wars and conquests, roaming tribes, empires taking over other countries and mixing people with people, that you realize there are few (if any) people who are "pure." Apparently, we are all more or less mixed.

    "Shindig"...timeless music!

  • R.I.P Dobie You were definitely 'In' with the In Crowd.

  • Rest in Peace Dobie! Your music will always soothe me and remain in my heart...

  • RIP Dobie :( I have been to many a northern soul night in Newcastle Upon Tyne and danced to this tune, you bring a lot of joy to us young kids too :)

  • I sang with Dobie in Hair in Los Angeles. Together we sang "What a piece of work is man." Love ya

  • Rest in peace, Dobie Gray...

  • Not even a lipsynch, rare for the show and the era. . .gotta love it.

  • I remember this being a signature hit for really cool teenagers in downtown Denver back in '65, the "Soches", the girls with miniskirts and long straight hair with bangs and, did I remember to say "miniskirts"? and the guys with carduroy slacks and "beatle" hair cuts. That was back when AM radio was "boss" and white kids knew how to dance. The look and the era was captured in a movie called "The In Crowd".

  • Great post! Thanks so much!

  • THE BLOSSOMS DOING BACKING VOCALS!!

  • Accrington British Legion! Tommy and Brian Balmer, Leo Brown The host with the most! Heard this for the first time in 1973 and fell in love with Soul music.

  • Incredible voice!

  • JERKING his azz off!! that was the dance

  • What a wretchedly bad and wrong bit of egotism.

  • @jonball52 Yeah, but it sounds cool. It made an amazingly good anti-drug video when juxtaposed with the reality of a junkie's life.

  • Describes MODS to a tee, The original "in-crowd" with our own way of walking and talking.

    Right-on Dobie.

  • I always loved this song but I did not know it was Dobbie Gray. Wow!!!!

  • Dobie's DA MAN!

  • This is really a great song and it brings back a lot of wonderful memories. Thanks

  • WHY IS IT, THAT MUSIC IS PRETTY MUCH THE ONLY THING THAT CAN BRING BLACK AND WHITES TOGETHER...LOOK CLOSE IN THE AUDIENCE...EVERY ONE IS HAVING A GREAT TIME. THEY'RE NOT CONCERNED WITH WHO IS SITTING NEXT TO THEM....THEIR ALL GROOVIN' TO THE TUNE...GREAT VIDEO....THANKS FOR THE POSTIN'

  • @JOEP123ful It seems odd, doesn't it? We all start out as strangers and if skin color is your only reference point in initiating a friendship with a stranger, then it speaks pretty much of just how far a distance we have yet to go to get beyond that complex. Sad.

  • @JOEP123ful The music unites us all. One people, one nation, one cause, live well.....

  • @JOEP123ful There are many ethnicities, we are all more alike than different. No one ever born has been white. Look closer. Even an Albino is mostly pink. No one ever born has been black. Look closer. Many people are dark brown. Many people are light brown. There is no such thing as a black, white, red, or yellow person. Stopping using colors to describe each other will be a good start. I am German, English, French, Cherokee, Choctaw, and Mexican. We don't even refer to dogs by color.

  • @JOEP123ful another point of view is; each race loves being around the other because something positive is being done. In the late 60's and 70's it was the love of sports that both the two races together. Each race recognized that the other had or is an equal partner. People in general love and respect success with a positive peaceful outcome. Just another point of view.

  • @JOEP123ful Joe, if it wasn't for sports & music I don't know where we'd be..........

  • Does anyone know the exact date of this Dobie Grey appearance on Shindig! took place?

  • @beattleBob March 10, 1965

  • @beattleBob I see this episode with him performing this song on Shindig! aired on October 23, 1965.

  • Wow! Can you imagine how thus guy felt, just before going on stage? This totally amazing. Nothing is better. 5***** Stars.

  • Great song good video nice sound keep the oldies alive

  • Has the wall of sound to it.

  • One of the all-time greatest soul recordings!

  • A truly wonderful song and singer. Thank you for uploading. 10+ stars!
