  • @Pappy55

Nah I haven't got COD yet, not even sure whether my PC would run it properly. I think IL2 still has quite a few active servers, though I haven't flown it for ages.

  • @helimeal

It is very active... There are still hundreds of players online 24/7.

So, if you have not flown for "ages", then you may have missed that version 4.101 was released a little while ago. Also, Ultra Pack 3 is out adding 6+GB of goodness. :)

  • And the Mossie could carry the same payload as a B-17

  • Did you know that the design was based on a pike? I was at the Mossie Museum in London Colney and the guide told me that. I was impressed!

  • Hats off to the cyber pilots who created this vid.

Il2 isnt an easy game to master, I know i have it .

  • I'm crying watching this.

This is what our country is all about. Not X Factor and bloody Britain's got talent.

Britain had talent back than. Proper talent like bouncing bombs, Bletchley Park and the 633 blokes.

Could we honestly do the same nowadays?

Nah mate, Don't wanna get me hoodie wet. Have you got any blow?

  • @HairyBosch I know mate, this country needs a kick up the arse TBH.

  • I just saw this great film for the very first time and wanted to congratulate you for a job well done, helimeal.

    Thanks for sharing, mate!

  • anyone can be British.. you have to be born English

  • Light bomber that could "run" with the best of the high preformance fighters.

  • God, I'm bloody proud to be British!!!!!!!

  • fantastic!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome! If I'm not mistaken, those are the correct markings, are they not? And there were so many versions of this outstanding aircraft. Bravo! Thank you.

  • @srrailwayfan

The 'HT' markings are the squadron codes from the film. I just added them to some a blank mossie skin for IL2.

  • Very, very nicely done.

  • VERY good pece of editing there and you made it so what was happening matched the music 11/10

  • O-rah! I want more.

  • You must have spent ages on this. Really great job. Much fun to watch and listen.

  • AWESOME! You did this so well. And the music is perfect. I wish I had IL2. :[

  • @CWMmedia What is preventing you? It is still available at a very low cost. Worth every bit of it!

Great work on the video Helimeal!

  • Comment removed

  • @CWMmedia Use Google, search BUY IL-2 1946 (It must be the 1946 version so you can join online combat) It will cost under $10 US. Can get it through STEAM also. Look me up when you get it.

  • @CWMmedia

    Erm..........:)

  • @helimeal Oh, it's you! Yeah... right after I posted the comment, I saw your name and I was like.... " oh......" Great video anyways!

  • @virtualbush I don't know where to buy it for PC.

  • You can't kill a Squadron

  • Excellent video sir!

  • Good job m8

  • @blackcabal

Umm, no, that would have been Adolf Galland, who was asked by Goering what he wanted for his fighter gruppen. He replied "Get me Spitfires for my wing!"

The Mosquito was quite adept at avoiding the Luftwaffe - it was fast and manoeuvrable enough to get away.

  • Really Done well. Makes me want to get my PC Running again..

  • nice formation flying

  • FAN ... BLOODY ... TASTIC

  • Great 633 Squadron is my all time fav film. Beautifully put together and that memorable score just finishs it for me. Thanks mate.

  • two powerful engines strapped to a bit of wood, fantastic.

  • awesome tribute to the old mossi... thanks so much for posting

  • is this the greatest plane ever built- i think so.

so merlin rolls royce engine - uk

    plane design - uk

    built by -- uk

    Music - uk

  • Used to be my fav film as a kid, loved it!.

  • Insane.

  • Brilliant! I was expecting to see the film but this rocks!!

  • Glad you liked it :)

  • Stunning!!! :D

  • Spot on

  • Nicely done! 5/5

  • i mean i know you cant do it on the game but isnt that what happened on the film?

  • Yes, In the game I used a hidden JU88 Mistel for the bang.

  • did you use full mission builder for this then?

  • Yep, FMB.

Actually it was a mission downloaded from M4T which I tweaked to get the big bang at the end.

  • didnt they use the overhanging rocks to destroy the factory?

  • it was a heavy water factory in norway

  • the mosquito is really useful in IL2 sturmovik when it comes to attacking armored columns.

  • Wasn't the Mosquito the fastest plane in the world, only to be surpassed by the first jets?

  • Yes, the Mossie was the fastest kite in the Sky for some considerable time. It could outrun a Hurricane on one engine only! Goring absolutely HATED the mighty Mossie with a passion because it embarassed his finest piston engined fighters. The RAF actually carried out a raid on Berlin during a public speech by Goring just to really hack him off! The PR Mossies flew all over the Reich and outran all the piston engined fighters.

  • The Mosquito famously annoyed theCommander in Chief of the Luftwaffe, Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring, when on the 20 January 1943, the tenth anniversary since the Nazis seizure of power, a Mosquito attack knocked out the main Berlin broadcasting station putting his speech off air. Göring complained about the high speed of the aircraft and its wooden structure, built by a nation he perceived to have large amounts of metal reserves, while the Germans had shortages.

  • Did u know they were made of wood, and had virtually no radar signature?

  • thanks you m8 will download

  • help how do i play online on il2

  • Google and download Hyperlobby, plenty of servers there.

  • it wont work

  • No you can't remake it because the originals are dead. It would be criminal if they did. Plus it would be American not British.

  • On IL 2 Forgotten Battles how do you go online and battle I went on Mulitplay and join server and I waited for ages but nothing happend how do you do it and is it free?

  • great plane, great music, time for a remake of 633 squadron.

  • One of the best movie themes I know, with the spotlight on one of the finest aircraft ever made. With all of its assets and capabilities firmly in view, the DeHavilland Mosquito lived up to its well-earned nickname... "The Wooden Wonder."

  • Excellent video. Note to Maltray: we can add one more job to the Mosquito's long resume: airliner. BOAC used civilian-marked Mosquitos to make runs from Scotland to Stockholm during WWII, and physicist Niels Bohr was flown out of Stockholm on a Mosquito in 1943.

  • what program did you use?

  • Il2 1946

    Fraps (free)

    Windows Movie maker

  • thanks

  • Nicely Done. Thank You.

  • The Mosquito was probably one of the momst versitile aircraft of world war 2.

    Fighter

    Fighter/Bomber

    Night Fighter

    Photo Recon

    Pathfinder

    Intruder

    Maritime Stike

  • Great vid, great music!

  • great! exactly like in the movie!

  • have you made the mission self?

  • Nope, downloaded it from mission4today

  • Very well done.

  • Beautifully done mate. Timed to perfection. I loved the old wars films and this one was a gem. Helped by Mr Goodwins score of course. Thanks for taking the trouble.

  • Wooden planes done that it's hard to belive. But with the RAF at the helm anything is possible.

  • The Mosquito was the fastest plane in the world untill the advent of Jets and was a master peaice of design. Herman Goering was supposedly absolutely pig-sick that we not only had such an amzing plane on our side that ran rings around anything he had, but that it was made of wood too

  • A lot of people observe that the Mosquito "was made of WOOD, too!" as if that made its performance (speed, bomb load) even more amazing. Actually, it was BECAUSE it was mostly wood, with two big Merlins up front, that the crucial power-to-weight ratio was so impressive. Without the wood, it would have been a very different plane.

  • @weldonwin Correction-The Mosquito was (one of) the fastest plane(s) in the world

Maybe the fastest bomber. 439 MPH was recorded in a flight test in 1943 of the fighter version. but book for the Mk. II was 366 @ 21,400ft. For comparison the Ju 88 G-1 was capable of 342@ 27,390ft and the JU 388 did 383mph @ 40,305ft. The Dougas A-26 Invader was rated at 355mph in its ground attack role and 370 as bomber. Spitfires were faster with Mk V at 378 MPH, Mk XI at 403MPH and the Mk 21 at 455 MPH.

  • Comment removed

  • @weldonwin Actually, the Mozzie's top speed was about 300mph whereas the P51 was up to 500mph.

  • @BIGGrobb Certain Mosquitos could reach top speeds of about 415mph. I think (but I'm not 100% sure) that the P-51's 500mph top speed was reached in testing, rather than being an operational top speed.

Whatever, two stunning examples of engineering.

  • @johnnykiraly A lot of the aircraft in WW2 were stunning examples of engineering. If you consider just how quickly aircraft went from the drawing board to combat (without computer aided design etc). A testament to the p-51 is that it was still in service in some countries as late as the mid 80s!

  • @BIGGrobb I did not know that!

I wish I could take plans for the Mosquito, Typhoon, Lancaster, Sunderland etc back to the mid-1930s - stop the Nazi swine from even stepping foot out of Germany!

  • @johnnykiraly Yeah, I think it was somewhere like the phillipines who were using p-51s as air superiority fighters into the 80s.

If I could take one piece of aviation technology back in time, I'd give churchill a jet engine!

  • @BIGGrobb

Churchill did have the jet engine. Frank Whittle was working on his jet engines through the late 30's, blame the Air Ministry for not taking it seriously at the time.

  • @helimeal Well, I'd have given him a more efficiant one then! Now you come to mention it, it does ring a bell. Apparently an american official came to the uk and asked what we thought about the jet engine (after the states had been debating whether or not to develop the technology) and we replied "Would you like to see our aircraft!"

  • Comment removed

  • @mikesmiltarybooks I knew the p51 was being used until late, but I didn't know they were still using the p47! That's brilliant!

  • @weldonwin very true, but the drawback of the mosquito was exactly that (MADE OF WOOD) No armor and bare minimum on support systems for the crew.

These aircraft were mainly used on fast and ultra secret raids due to the very high fatality rate incurred by the crews .

On the missions where enemy fighters were encountered the loss rate was allmost allways 100%.

  • @VIKINGxDNA Really?, get real, mossie's could outrun most fighters, had a small radar return, so were hard to find, fighter-bomber versions were capable of taking on fighters, and they had the lowest lost rate of any frontline WW2 bomber, their wooden frames were ,resistant to canon and flak and easy to repair

post-war analysis showed, that the Mossie's did more damage with 10% of the bomb load of the heavy day bombers, lower loss rates,in crews, resources and unescorted,

  • The way the whole 'thing' is captured in essence in music, even the spirally bit makes you think of baling out with your parachute, and sadly, the plane too..

  • AWESOME!!! song name?:D

  • Music from movie 633 Squadron.

  • It was composed by Ron Goodwin and can easily be found to download on amazon as an MP3 :)

  • HI helimeal

Excellent video M8,Quality graphics and well put together.

    5*****

    Respect

    Keith:)

  • Do I have to download Hyperlobby in order for me to play online? How exactly does Hyperlobby work? Thanks.

  • No you can connect to a server through the multiplay option in il2's main menu, if you have a server address.

Hyperlobby is easy, download, install, register, select a sever from the il2/ forgotten battles list, connect and your online.

  • that game sure looks fun

  • Tep, considering it's age, it's still the best WW2 sim around.
