@Nyocurio I have tried webm. VP8 is a pretty good video codec, but x264/h264 is still the winner for quality to size ratio.
VP8 can get pretty close to x264 though.. And looking at their track record, they'll be catching up to x264 soon. Each release of libvpx seems to bring more visual improvements.
webm also uses vorbis for audio which I think is pretty much superior to other audio codecs.. Just need VP8 Video codec to catch up, and webm would be full of awesome.
@Speaktrap I can tell you that it works smoothly in WorldofGoo, although it probably doesn't use any 3D.. The only other game I've played was Openarena and I had smooth frame rates.
I've tried Alien Arena for a little bit, but it was too much. Frame rates were low even when i turned down all of the graphics settings.

How's this working with real games?
