  • I'm pretty sure the boulder was just a well managed sheet, but it was damn well managed.

  • What wattage toaster did you film this thing on?

  • Well done! Love to see the whole thing.

  • sweded as fuck

  • That giant ball rolling scene was actually kinda MORE exciting than the original cuz it was literally almost on top of him! lol

  • This is the garage band filmmaking equivalent of "The Thief and the Cobbler": a total work of (derivative) love by people for no reason other than love of the material.

  • For a budget of $0, with 1982 editing power, this is astonshing

  • What's sad is the kids all when on to be game testers, none went into film.

  • WOW! Really scary at momments, i really like it!

  • Ba-rilliant

  • Pretty decent production value.

  • "Those who do not want to imitate anything, produce nothing."
-- Salvador Dali

It's how we learn. I found myself grinning all the way through the first 10 minutes!

    Great job guys!

  • @davidolden Spielberg and Lucas "imitated" when they used classic Republic serials to inspire Radiers. These guys just duplicated.

  • @PlanetMan77 So did Lucas! When he made Star Wars: A New Hope, he copied the space fighting scenes from old movies with air fights.

  • This is very very good.

  • SO AWESOME!!!!

  • wow talk about robbed...it was 3 kids not 2...there is 1 poor kid who will dislike this video cause you fucked up...it was 3 kids who made this not 2.....

  • This is like McAwesome. There is this video and the Vader Sessions video

  • DAMN GOOD! iMPRESSIVE! just one thing - Indy left his whip on the log. Beside this - excellent. how did you find these places to shot? and the rolling rock... damn professional for me!!

  • this is pretty damned impressive...

these fellas truly are an inspiration to independent filmmakers everywhere.

  • this is pretty damned impressive...

  • The entire one hour and fourty minute film can be seen over on bleedingcooldotcom where it has just been posted, see it while you can before Paramount yanks it.

  • I guess this makes them the Gus Van Sant's of the 80s, huh? Insert a few sex scenes and they could have had the highest grossing porn knock-off ever!!!

  • Fantastic!

  • This is quite excellent

  • pretty cool! But you screwed up where Indy pulls the whip off the log. In the movie he tucks it behind a rock in the wall. That's how Satipo gets across before him when they are escaping. Besides that, very good job!

  • I saw something about these guys a while back. These were some truly dedicated kids!

  • well done!!!

  • wohoho this is amazing!

  • thanks

  • You guys, my dad helped make the boulder for this. Then he quit...

  • WHere did you get this and why isn't the full movie on the internet?

  • @ConvictProductionsNH it's not on the internet because some film company purchased the "life rights" to the trio who made this movie, and are going to make a movie about THEIR story instead of just releasing this in the theatre, and they probably threaten to sue anyone who puts it up so that they can hold it back for special features on the 2-disc collector's dvd set that will inevitably come. typical hollywood bullshit

  • Okay, I love it, and I'm glad there's all this supplementary material on it, but where can I watch it!? Can I rent it from anywhere or see it somehow? The screenings are nice, I'm sure, but can it be watched in the comfort of my home?

  • a little bit too much.

  • Magnificent Work. BRILLIANT!

  • Where was "Adios Senor"?

  • @schtolteheim Yeah, no doubt. I scared myself when this played and I was wondering where the "Adios, senior!" line was.

  • Wow!! Making a movie is hard as hell, let alone with no money. And these kids make Raiders of the Lost Ark!! And its pretty damn slick too, all things considering. I'm blown away. If I could find people with this amount of zeal and passion and free time I'd have it made. Maybe I should source labor from primary schools from now on! This is just awesome.

  • Incredible. Great work.

  • this is a great idea! Anyone who wants to be a filmmaker should do exactly this-do a shot-for shot remake of your favorite film, though it's preferable to do one without so many difficult stunts and action sequences, So these guys went above and beyond. Point is it's great practice in getting the experience of shooting a feature length film. I wonder if they sot from the original screenplay or if they adapted a shooting script jsut from watching the film? Anyway, i love the idea.

  • You should post the entire movie.

  • FAIL !!

  • thumbs up for INDY MOGULLLLL

  • Amazing!

  • How the heck did these guys make the impaled Satipo?!

  • Very good.

  • How did they make this AMAZING set?

  • I keep thinking this is going to turn into porno.

  • Who cares what anyone else thinks- these comments are funny. "Oh no, you have to like it, Lucas liked it." Whatever... think what ever the hell you want about it! I think it was a big GAY waste of time, personally. But, who cares, google is taking over the known world, I'm done with this BS.

  • where can i watch the full thing?

  • This, total, is longer than the original

  • @EcakCake2 Are you going to Heaven?

  • @Domodeath wha?

  • @EcakCake2 If you were to die tomorrow in a car crash, where would you go?

  • @Domodeath Oh. That's a random question. Heaven, I think.

  • @EcakCake2 May I ask you a few yes or no questions?

  • @Domodeath Sure.

  • its amazing that just some fans could remake the entire first indiana jones movie with almost no money

  • wow cant believe some kids from where i used to live did that

  • how is that boulder made

  • This is bloody brilliant.

  • you can diss this all you want but it doesnt change the fact that SPIELBERG loved it, gave it his stamp of approval, invited them to hang with him at dreamworks AND Someone BOUGHT the rights to these three guys story! who's really laughing?

  • this is pretty damn good for some kids in the '80s. the production value alone is incredible.

  • EPIC!!!!

  • Awesome!!!

  • OWN3D at 9:27

  • In the original, Indy does not take his whip with him after first swinging across the pit. He leaves the whip wrapped around the overhanging log, and places the handle in a crack in the wall. That is why Sapito is able to swing BACK across the pit first.

  • @StuntmanJake you're an ass hole

  • Why? Because I am pointing out a problem with their vid? I thought their whole purpose was to remake the original, shot for shot. More than anything, though, I am a huge fan of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

  • ^_____________^

  • I wonder how they edited it. On VHS no less. No such thing as Final Cut in those days!

There are so many shots in these ten minutes alone-- It must have taken forever and ever to do the whole film.

  • I guarantee that you've never done anything anywhere near this creative in your life. I'm absolutely sure you're some failed artist that totally overestimates his own shoddy talents, if he has any at all. Otherwise yo wouldn't have made that comment. Loser.

  • that dude is the true definition of a troll... lol

  • haha i love vulcan video in austin tx.... i love video is great too

  • this is pretty amazing, i wonder how they could find the locations to film it like that tunnel and the gorge for example

  • very cool that they did this

  • wow! how did they make the ball???

  • It is unspeakably amazing that they did this

  • If it weren't for the interviews and things these guys have done, I wouldn't have believed this was just done by some kids. This is amazing.

  • Holy shit.

  • This is unbelievable. I mean, especially considering when this was done, how old they were and that they had no money.... this is pretty incredible. High fives to these guys!

  • this is AMAZING!! I desperately want to see the entire movie

And, yes, casino16...clearly you've never attempted ANYTHING like this before. Accurate costuming/prop building alone would take more than a month.

  • The guy playing Indy is really good.

  • casino 16 has clearly never actually made a decent movie.

  • casino16, I believe when they started, they were 10-12 years old... You fool.

  • how retarded are you? These were kids. They didn't have any money. Didn't know what they were doing.

And the recreated the entire film! Not just what you see in this clip. Extras, sets, costumes, stunts, setting other kids on fire. For $5000.

  • they made a SHOT FOR SHOT remake,an identical to the real movie, you fucking asshole

  • yeah but these were 12 year old kids, and they made the movie in the 80's with limited effects...they couldnt just simply get on adobe after effects or photoshop, they did only visual effects(no computer effects)and you have to admiit that this was pretty good for such a limited budget...

  • yeah, I saw it here in Portland and there was a Q&A with the guys afterwards. They had to do a lot of the editing via two VCR's, which is a major pain to do. You couldn't just fire up iMovie and throw it all together.

  • that just makes the movie that much more awesome.i cant find the full version anywhere, you know where it mite be?

  • you can rent it at Vulcan video in Austin, TX

  • @xRHx95 It mite be available in a DVD store near you.

  • @casino16 Yeah sure, like you've ever done anything in your miserable worthless life worth talking about. Asshole.

  • it was three kids not two and took seven years 1982 - 1989

  • ROLA: The Adaptation Alabama Premiere!

  • lol who'd be running around in the rainforest wearing a leather jacket!?!

  • I love what I've seen so far, would love to see the rest though.

  • I`m reading about this and the filmmakers in the book Homemade Hollywood.

  • nice job!

  • better than the original!!!!

  • where can I see the rest of this

  • SCREENING ANNOUNCED!!

Alabama premier of Raiders: The Adaptation Sept. 18-19 at Merrimack Hall Performing Arts Center in Huntsville, AL

  • AWESOME!!

  • duh guys the orignal is way better

  • Way to completely miss the point.

  • facial expressions are perfect

  • This is soo awesome! I would love to see the full remake! 5*****

  • love it ! well done boys!

  • Okay, brilliant remake. Yes it is amazing. But what's the point? Why not just make up your own film concept and do it? It is alot more fun.

  • I think you totally miss the point. I found this because I was reading the book "homemade Hollywood", and I was curious. It's better than I thought it would be, but it's a fan film. You might as well ask, why make Star Trek films or Star Wars films, or concepts based on any existing franchise. They are fans! And many fans do go on to produce their own stuff. Just like many writers start out imitating their influences before finding their own voice. You have to start somewhere.

  • Also keep in mind the influence Lucas gained that he used in Star Wars. Influence from Wizard of Oz, North to Alaska, Invaders from Space, War of the Worlds, etc.

  • i am the monarch of the sea!

  • i am spending about a entire summer or more making another remake of raiders and i am not gonna make it this good i mean this is a great remake.

  • This is even a bigger feat that it was done in the 80s. Have you ever tried editing stuff together with two VCRs?, what a major pain!

  • it ok ok

  • A Crown Royal bag turned inside out. Brilliant!

  • clearly this film inspired 'Son of Rambow'.

  • This is just fucking incredible. I HAVE to see the rest of this.

  • saw this at the uk premiere last night with q & a from the filmakers...hilarious & inspiring!

  • Bravo!

  • Just fantastic. I want to see it all - but how on earth could they remake such an expensive movie?

  • it took $5000!!!

  • wow!! that was so well done........

  • wow Im listening at an interview with these guys just now. its amazing. they spent seven years making it :) and it was mostly made in one of their basement, and they almost burned down their moms kitchen hehe

  • did you hear it on "front row"? ^^

i just listened to it and it was so amazing. i really had to look for that on youtube! xD

    these guys rock. ;)

  • yes it was indeed. I love BBC4, maybe Im just getting old, hehe

  • GAHHH!

They were showing this at my school yesterday, but I couldn't go see it. I feel sad now.

Although I must admit these guys have a tremendous amount of dedication to their work. *claps*

  • Their endeavor is to be applauded, but this scene for scene remake is a bit pointless. I'll bet though it got them some recognition and probably taught them a bit about film-making.

  • excellent

  • Check out the full screening on April 24th, 2009 in Fullerton, California. Go to the website for details and directions. It's going to be awesome!

  • Wish I could be there, they should do a screening out here in DC.

  • Most impressive.

  • impressive.

  • Very Awesome!!!!! They got that down to the "t" . (((Bravo)))

  • where can we find the rest?

  • Spielberg saw it and liked it. Seriously... that's true!

  • and please tell us your creative talent and/ or what you have made that has gained national recognition. I would love to know what gives you the right to criticize this homemade classic

  • my mom died in a car accident five years ago

  • honestly you are whats wrong with America today

  • I'm from UK beeyaach!

  • my bad

  • Oh shit my bad I thought you were talking about my Mum.

  • ok then

  • gamesmaster90, It's people like you who I would not think twice about killing.

  • ____ your mom.

  • you degrade the english language, you make me want to punch a baby

ps. you are truly disgusting, I find the videos you have favorited to be obscene

  • This was epic... but the sad part is if someone did this today to share it online they (and everyone they loved) would most likely get sued into oblivion.

  • so true! and George Lucas loves to sue people! he does it all the time concerning Star Wars stuff! I think a 3 billions bucks is enough for one man!

  • "most impressive" - lord vader

  • Wow I'm making a remake of Raiders and it is nothing compared to this. Mines good but not this good

  • I like the drawn-on facial hair

  • When are Eric & Chris going to make another movie??? Can't wait.

  • I'm so thirsty but the water in the sink smells and I have nothing else to drink. Throw me the water, I'll throw you the whip!

  • Wow, for 3 guys who started as 12 year olds in the 80's, this is pretty frickin incredible. I can't believe they did all the effects and scenery. Especially in the 80's! My buddies and I did James Bond movies, but nothing of this quality.

  • I read the Vanity Fair article about this just recently and figured I should try to find it.

Wow. Just, wow. If my classmates in high-school would've put forth a 50th as much effort as these guys (despite having way better tech to do so), those English-class video projects just might have been tolerable... Quite brilliant.

  • Wow, they spent 8 summers of the 1980's making this (82-89). Now that's dedication.

  • this is better then the real raiders of the lost ark

  • Then obviously you aren't a real Indiana Jones fan.

  • It's sterling stuff, to put that much effort into a garage production? What I dreamt of as a kid.

  • Yes with Final Cut Pro and your mini DV you probably could probably make a version that is a lot better.

You are missing the point. Half the genius of this is the fact that they pulled this off...20 YEARS AGO! Have you ever had to edit a film by hooking two VCR's together? Did you ever have to rent time at a TV studio during their off hours just to edit a few scenes together?

  • I know!

Dang It must've been hard, but thats theyre devotion to indy =3

I'd like to try to do this with TDK Just to see if i could pull it off :D

  • pretty good... but this isn't exactly "shot by shot"... Indy never picked up the pistol that he whipped out.

  • good point
