  • If I were there when you did this you would have needed to see the dentist when I was done. Harry was one of my idols and your casually touching his gravesite and articals people have left. Very inappropriate of you. Your mother must be very proud of the respect yu have learned to give to others.

  • my girlfriend and I at the time were Harry and Sue,, first time I heard Taxi,, it was raining and we were parked. Those types of memories you can't give up.

    Thanks Harry, you're missed

  • I was in the audience at Eisenhower Park the night they came on stage and said Harry wouldn't be performing because he'd been in an crash on the way to the show. I can't believe I lived not far from huntington through all my childhood and teenage years and never made it out to pay my respects. I'm gonna have to get out there and leave a guitar pick or something next time I'm back on LI.

  • I visited here in July 2009. I recently found and watched this video in amazement. I left several things in the bag, a note (lyric from a song) a stone, a key and a guitar pic. I knew people would open the bag. I don't mind at all. Harry's circle just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I am from Canada . You uploaded it on my birthday Oct. 18th. Thankyou for the birthday gift. Harry's smiling and writing a song. I'll be at the 30th reunion. Hope you will be too.

  • I can see myself it's a golden sunrise, young boy open your eyes, it's supposed to be your day. And somewhere on your path to glory you will write your story of a life.- Harry Chapin's "story of a life"

  • Harry, It sucks! Miss you.

  • Totally inappropriate... you don't touch things left on someone's grave. Incredibly stupid and disrespectful.

  • @hockey6108

Grow up you douche. I respect harry and his fans for longer then you've been alive! After all I did drive 3 hours to see where he was put to rest. What have you done to pay "respect"?

  • @hockey6108 People leave flowers at Strawberry fields and other people pick them up and smell them people visit Jim Morrison's grave in Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris and touch the stones and flowers to me thats more respect than a lot of people show and I'm 57 years old so please keep your frivolous comment to yourself

  • I'm sorry but, it is disrespectful to touch and handle things people leave on a grave.Would you pick up flowers? I know you didn't do it with malice but it is wrong nonetheless.Look, don't touch.

  • Huntington Rural Cemetery off route 110 on long island.

  • What is the name of the cemetary? I cant make it out, Thanks Bobmile@aol.com

    I would like to visit

  • Man you're not supposed to be touching & dropping the other gifts people left on the grave site!!! Totally inappropriate dude!!!

  • @HonRevPTB Harry's wishes were to maintain a living gravesite for all to be able to visit and pay respects. I was not being disrespectful by admiring gift others left for him. If you took offense to it, get over it. Cheers!

  • @KOLA131313 TOTALLY agreed. Nothing wrong at all in looking over and admiring what others left and had to say about Harry. The man was an open book and he would have had no problem. I was probably one of the first to ever leave a note on that stone, as my Grandfather is buried about 75 feet away, and even at my young age I loved Harry's music. Standing there in that cemetary for me is always really special for numerous reasons.

  • @KOLA131313 How do you know what his wishes were in that respect?? He died quite unexpectedly. If he did have such wishes, did he make these wishes public?

  • That was really nice, I live just up the road and I am a huge fan of Harry, I hadn't realized he was buried in town. I will make a visit! thanks for sharing

  • the logo is annoying.

  • I loved his music. I met him and he was so nice. What a wonderful man.

  • Thanks for posting this! Next time I am in NY, I hope to visit his gravesite, and maybe even a song. I was unable to read what was written on his stone...could you please post what it says? Thanks!

  • Where is this?

  • Huntington Rural Cemetery off route 110 on long island. i have an uncle buried there

  • I'm 50 years old. It is my life's dream to make my pilgrimage to Harry's gravesite before I become incompacited and pass away. The man, his music, his love for humanity have touched me so deeply.

  • I'll be making another trip that I will have to document on here. Probably in the summer of 2009. Let me tell ya, it sure would be worth the trip from California or anywhere else. His spirit somehow led me stright to his site somehow which shocked me even more so as large as that cemetary is. It's like he knew he had a visiter and guided me straight to him. I'm also planning a trip to his restaurant in Ohio this year. Miss you Harry!!

  • @KeathGraham where is he buried ??

  • @worm60 Harry is buried at Huntington Rural Cemetery in Huntington New York on Long Island. You can take a train to Huntington from Penn Station and it's a mile north of the train depot.

  • Thanks for documenting this... I often wished I could pass thru there and visit his resting place, this was like getting to go there for a few minutes.

    Ray

  • Sorry for the poor quality of the video but we had to get something for the people not able to make it there. I live in CT and this visit was a MUST for Harry's music has lived in me my whole life. If you ever make it there let me know. Always enjoy any fan of Harry's.

  • very sad
