I like this. I've always thought he seems very warm and kind, and he's never milked all that he could have from having such a famous father (compare to a Paris Hilton for example). If he couldn't sing at all, it would be a joke and he'd be lip syncing. He's had an unusual life but I applaud that he enjoys singing to small groups and isn't trying to be something he's not.

Julian is a great musician and activist in his own way- promoting peace, setting up a charity to save the environment and do humanitarian stuff (The White Feather Foundation). He's a good human being for forgiving his family for their big mistakes and buying back his dad's stuff with his money since Yoko sold alot of John Lennon memorabilia

It's so funny the way people are always saying, 'he sounds just like John'.

The first time I heard this song, he sounded SO MUCH LIKE ELVIS that I had to double-check the credits to see who was singing that part!

Really fun to watch the performance. THANKS!

Suffice to say that Julian experiments with LOTS of different styles. And carries them off really well, too.

Look closer, you'll be amazed.

Always avoiding listening to Julian for some reason (son of a legend, maybe?), but just recently discovered that he was in his own right a quality musician. "Valotte" was magical.

It depends on the song, Jules plays keyboards or acoustic guitar on stage. He didn't get any real lessons from John, and actually played drums for awhile. Jules has admitted he's not the best at playing and leaves it to other people who in his opinion do it better.

AMEN TO THAT! He did get critics approval for his album, "Photograph Smile". People do need to give Jules a chance & forget who his dad was for 2 seconds while they're listening to his music. IMHO he's definitely inherited his dad's musical talent. :)

Photograph Smile his first "real" album is one of my favorite albums of all time. The emotional range on that thing is stellar and the string arrangements that Julian wrote are amazing. His new album is coming out in the spring and advanced word is it is the best thing he has ever done. He has some tunes on his Myspace so go check it out. He is reminiscent of John but definitely uniquely Julian. I love his old albums but the real Julian came out in 99 and this new one will be his second album.

I agree but his older albums are still worth looking in to for the hidden gems that weren't singles. His tour set for PS included some wonderful songs from Mr Jordan and Help Yourself that he felt were overlooked. He also did a new arangement of Too Late.

I agree but there are some good songs on the older albums. For example Saltwater (Help Yourself) or Valotte (Valotte) and so on.

BTW Photograph Smile was released 1998 (In spring or so. I can't remember, but I know when I saw him live up on stage in June 1998 the album was released shortly before this gig)

the problem with being john lennons son is just that, your john lennons son and if you dont do what the people figure you should, they write you off. as much as julian should have been able to capatilize upon his fathers fame, yoko ruined it

As much as i loved his genius father, Jules is so high energy and buff, i might add, that i'm crazy about him. It's disappointing that his career hasn't been bigger & more public interest, considering his genes.

It is a shame. That's why I'm hoping when he releases this new album, which is going to be VERY soon, he will finally get the respect he deserves. His style may be different than his dad's, but he's certainly inherited his dad's musical talent. :)
