uh.... a kipping pullup is a form pullup just a different type of form pullup. There is a particular method to doing them especially the C2B (Chest 2 Bar) pullup. They are mostly utilized in gymnastics and are extremely beneficial to developing explosive power. CrossFit does not solely emphasize the kipping pull up, it is just called for in particular workouts for particular reasons. You will find numerous CF workouts that specify strict pullups as well.
@rmassie11 It's just about getting above the bar as fast as possible. It's not meant to be a bicep isolating strength exercise as much as an upper body cardio exercise. Try doing 20 of the kipping pull ups and you'll be panting out of breath a lot more than feeling like your arms are dead.
@rmassie11 i train at a full contact gym that pretty much has everything. i see so many people getting injured doing these types plyometric work outs..not the MMA ones but the ones where form is not enforced.
@crv26 Yea It seems like a very careless way of working out, I really just prefer to minimize injury when I workout....... As an athlete I guess it’s the just the way I been taught
@crv26 that's a valid viewpoint, but frankly i work in a gym too and i see a lot of people get injured squatting poorly or doing uneven shoulder presses seated. whil i can live without seated presses, i think learning how to do things properly (like the kipping pull up or the squat) should be taken into account before we rule out an exercise.
@audioguitar04 I'm not in anyway knocking the Kipping pull up, and I can see where it is used in the musle up.......To me it seems very careless on the Joints/Tendons, but that just me
