  • i love dis song

  • This is just too great..!!!

  • Listening to this music, tells me in nostalgia the lost era of authentic musical tradition of nigeria, which has since been lost in the atmosphere of western influence on nigeria cultural heterogeneity.., its a pity that we are in context trying to be westernised and in the process loosing the essece of our cuture...

  • You have said it all fishhorne. This music makes me to remember when my Father use to play it early in the morning. Infact I cant hold back the emotion and memory of that beautiful time.

  • P.s, could you upload Uncle toye Ajagun "Magbe Magbe o, ese re di taya ko se gbe o, ma gbe ma gbe o.....

  • Thank 4 dis music, it brought back my childhood memories de good ones when my father was still alive.... We should cherish our musicians bcos dey leave someting good for us and those coming behind.GOD BLESS

  • Good job man!

  • oh i like dis song so much when am in nigeria dis is a real good music 4m UK

  • These guys are living legend but nigerians don't know their value.

  • @leknuga1 l soooo agree, l ctually made a similar comment on another of his videos, listen to the funk/ neo soul vibe at the begining of this tune, this was like 30 years ago? and its what we are playing in the west today in 2010, mot musicias will get my point, exactly the same scales i even think these scales are more complicated than anything we have in the west, those who disagree shld pick up a guitar and try to jam to this, you have to jam to this from the heart, you cant really teach it

  • Would be nice if anyone could post his breakthrough album (1971): "O dile ore meta, ore jo mi mo jo'niyan; ore jo mi mo jore mi". Shina Peters, then 13, could be seen with Adekunle on the album cover. I regard it as his finest piece of music. Then there is "Give us this day our daily bread", 1972, which I used to play to death as a pre-teen, and "Omo niyi, omo nide", in the mid-70s. I think his music derailed a bit when he tried to invent a new sound as a way of avoiding comparisons with Obey.

  • I totally agree wt u on d pts made. His 1st album when he changed direction was "Mo P'Erinmi L'oko Oloko" --- Adiitu ede, which bombed and he nvr recoberd from that.

  • i lv dis song bro

  • Can someone pls tell me the home town of General prince Adekunle, many thanks.

  • Sunnyowo,

For your info. Gen Prince Adekunle is an Egbaman from Abeokuta, Ogun State. He was more popular in the mid '70's. In spite of his great talent, his musical career declined partly because of lack of fund to update his musical instruments in the '80's, as I learned. Otherwise, could he have rivaled Obey and Sunny, who knows? Just an opinion! Cheers!

  • In fact , he was no. 3 whenSunny and Obey were occupying the top two positions. Dele Abiodun was in the 4th position. I really miss that era.

  • Gbengus99,

Thanks for the update. We should all continue to share our factual knowledge about our (Nigerian) talented musicians, irrespective of their places of origin. This will enable us, sooner than later, to compile an "Encyclopaedia of Nigerian Music & Art" so that future generation of young Nigerians with musical talents may be inspired to become even greater.

  • Watch out..soon im gonna educate all the young ones..im gonna post stuff by Dele Abiodun..Adekunle,Obey ,Sunny,Ik Dairo,Idowu Animashaun,Shina Adewale,Queen Decency,S f Olowookere...its gonna blow your mind..i hav all these songs its just finding the time to convert them to cd"s and load them..but im gonna do them..these guys need to be appreciated and celebrated

  • that will be swell. I believe it will not only educate and encourage the younger generation on the leagacy left by these great nigerian musicians, but also bring good memories back to us, the oldish generation. I am seriously looking forward to this collection of yours.

  • @ABBIHH

Still waiting for those stuffs. Come on and do it!!!!

  • This is an very interesting post.

Nice cobination of drums and acoustic sounds.

    Love the style.

  • Shina Adewale served a long musical apprenticeship in this mans band. Starting sometime during the mid to late 1960s.
