It sort of did. A company in Holland bought a bunch of CX's, and Re-manufactured them to US spec, and then marketed them as CXA. Various models were offered, and they do pop up from time to time on Ebay.

oh yes i remember CXA, my father looked at doing some PR work for them...they also had an idea to bring some XM but that I think didnt happen...will have a look on ebay

Actually CXA did import a limited number of XM's into the USA. (about 25 sedans and 1-2 wagons)
