This is my favorite part in this movie when Martha had a big smile on her face. When the Doctor told her all right and she look up at the Tardis and ran and hug the Doctor. That i could've imagine that was me doing that too.
I agree with s00stl, the Doctor was in love with Marha --he was just scared of all the Rose fans---jeewiz those folks can be mean as fire!!!! Unilke us Martha fans, a kinder gentler people! LOL
yeah, i really agree, and i am happy Martha was able to move on with Tom and find happiness with someone who loved her back the way she needed to be loved. The Doctor was always pining for Rose. That was one annoying part of the series with Martha. And, yes, Donna was his mate.
@topliff12345 He didn't treat her like a sister! He thought of her as a daughter or a student. Martha learned alot from the Doctor. Not intentionally of course because he was too busy trying to throw her out of the TARDIS to teach her anything, but she learned from watching him. By the end of the season she was a mixture of Rose and the Doctor. She was an amazing companion.
I don't think he was in love with her, but I think he was strongly attracted and then felt guilty about it, it was only months away from losing Rose; kind of like a widower meeting someone after losing a beloved wife...He thinks he should still grieve and feels guilty that this new woman makes him feel good.
Love this clip and its one of the few times the Doctor lets the "romantic guard down" so to speak with Martha instead of pining after Rose. Unfortunately through Seris 3 the Doctor shows how thoughtless and disrespectful a man he can be. Poor Martha, its particularly bad considering all she does for the Doctor.
yeah, i agree 104 %. he's rather harsh. especially the bit in... i think it's "the sound of drums" when he says "oh, i know what its like. its like when you fancy someone and they don't even know you exist. thats what it's like." and Martha looks like she's going to cry. i hated that bit.
Can you imagine that your family has been kidnapped by an alien madman and his countrymen, so to speak, is saying such a thing to you? Boy, they need to let me write those scripts just for one day, because everything would have come to a screeching halt right there, and the Doctor would have been told off with a couple of slaps to boot, and if he didn't like it, I'd have bargained with his enemy to get my family back. Now that's what Martha should have done.
yup. germany for five, then uk for nine and a couple of months in Hong Kong. I get around alot but that's off topic. Yer, I know, some people just wun give sci-fi a chance!

To thedoctorandrose,

O.K., bargaining with his enemy (the Master) is too harsh a statement, but I stand by the rest.
