@lightningstrikes421 Unfortunately, the gold in Wester PA is very fine - and the video really doesn't zoom in enough for it to be seen. However, after all of the other material is spun out, the gold will be found along the "cone" coming up in the middle.
Those things are really cool, but just the bowl alone is a little spendy,70.00 seems a little steep for plastic.....But may concentratoe spiral wheel was 379.00....Cool video have fun..........
@hootsmeister as many as you need. There is no way to say "it takes 3 adjustments" since each time you go though your concentrates you have diffrent things in that concentrate. You sit there adjusting as needed.
Forget the music, it usually mucks up the video anyway. Much better and more informative to just explain what the heck you are doing and why. We'll get twice the info out of your video if you verbally explain your process and insights as you go. You could also inject a bit of humor, which goes a long way in making your videos interesting, enjoyable, and share-able.
@dmgcat I keep what I find, some day I'll sell it when I have enough that people can buy. But there are a lot of places to sale your gold, ebay is just one place. It really depends how much you have and how you market it. You could melt down what you have and make some kind of ornimate and sale it that way, you never know.
This was made an posted when youtube didn't have free music to add, and I didn't have any music that I could add. If you have a site that gives out royaltiy free music that I can use, let me know.
The problem with that is that youtube keeps changing what is allowed and what is not allowed. So I would have to keep looking for things that fit what is going on. So if you can point me to royalty free music that I can use let me know.
I went to my local panning shop and asked about the blue bowl. The guy said there are 2 types of people. People who either love the bowl, or people who cuss the bowl. He said he was part of the latter group.
If you are prospecting a "wilderness" area with no human impact; the blue bowl is great.
If you are prospecting an area with a lot of human "trash", the blue bowl collects this too, and a lot of lead will collect with the gold, there for requiring MORE processing.!!!
The hard part is the seperating of the diffrent sizes of the materal you are processing.
When you say "More processing" what do you mean? If there is lead in your concentrates you would still have to process it more even without it being the blue bowl.
it would be nice to see what you ended up with ar the end of your run this vis is somewhat disappointing after sitting through over 3 minuts with no "Pay off". one gets the feeling that you ended up with nothing to show for it.
Well on that run I have to say that it was disappointing, He only got very tiny specks that would not show up on camera, which I didn't know that it didn't show up until the editing. But I will keep everyones comments in mind when I have time to make Version 2!
pc565gilmer, you're able to get the blue bowl to deal with concentrates finer than a coffee filter? I find that hard to believe. Maybe it's just the black sand I've used - only to different sources. But I've had a hard time with the blue bowl at 100 mesh size. Beach black sand and platinum go right up the center, as has my placer gold and sand, and yes, I use jet-dry and the bowl exactly per instructions. As anyone had luck beyond 30 mesh? Be honest. Tried a long sluice or Henry Poop tube?
ive been prospecting pike co the golds so fine i classify it through a reusable coffee filter ive got it down pretty much to a science now. i use the blue bowl also the best area so far by a mile is in the dirt basement of a 200 yr old house its mainly that it hasnt been weathered and the gold is still on top and not washed into the ground since its so fine if theres gold around ill find it. just a little tip!!! (peace brother)

Where do you sell the gold once you get it? Wouldn't a jewelry shop look at you like you were crazy trying to sell them gold dust?

For the purpose of fine gold recovery, would you recommend the 'blue bowl' or one of the gravity wheels such as the Desert Fox?
I've got a bunch of black sand that I've acquired this summer and I'm trying to figure out the best way to process it.
adam1mc 3 years ago 3
I heard they found some color up your area not too long ago?
I wanted to ask you if you would recommend the blue bowl? We were at a mining shop and the owner said that they were junk.... Thanks!

We find gold all the time at our property in mercer, pa. It's real fine in size.

I imagine it is something like this:
If you are prospecting a "wilderness" area with no human impact; the blue bowl is great.
If you are prospecting an area with a lot of human "trash", the blue bowl collects this too, and a lot of lead will collect with the gold, there for requiring MORE processing.!!!

I guess the demo I got at my local shop was a little bit more like "secoxxx" video "Blue Bowl".
where in like 30 seconds there is a couple grams of gold and NOTHING else.
So that is what i was hoping for (less gold, but still.....clean).
Still tho, I think I like the blue bowl, It definitely speeds the cleaning process.

It's very good at it seperating gold. The "real" work part is the classification to get all the material to be the same size.
