  • If you ask a historian, an industrialist, and a physicist what the greatest force is, they'd say steam. If you asked a gamer, he'd say the same thing :)

  • happy these video still up after so long

  • i love W :3

  • "Whenever you can stick your finger in and not go AAAAAAAAAAAH, that's when"

    Lol, that snort HURT Alton!

  • Yay W got owned

  • ah don't worry about that, someone'll watch it! lol

  • I never thought of cooking as a science until I started watching Alton Brown in good eats.

  • But choux is cabbage.

  • @trlkly Watch. The. Video. Before. Commenting.

  • @VoidOnTuesday I'm not going to watch a video about pate a choux when I'm looking for stuff about cabbage. Pate a choux is not choux, so I think the title is misleading.

  • @trlkly you failed to watch the video or do a simple Google search so I'll talk slowly and explain it to you. "Pate a Choux" is French for a puff pastry stuffed with a creamy filling. It is called thus because to the french at the time of its invention, choux was to them what the little puffed up balls resembled. It is similar to how the french have named potatoes "pomme de terre" which means literally "apple of the earth" even though it looks tastes is nothing like an apple. Geez.

  • @VoidOnTuesday Or like "Chicken of the Sea" to be a bit more modern?

  • W is a babe. I bet she's a beast in the sack!

  • every bod teases me cause i like food network cause im 12 but i dont care i <3 alton brown

  • @lovedapudding im 12 and i just dont tell anyone about my liking for good eats and food network

  • @lovedapudding They're just trying to tease you. There's nothing nerdy about cooking and in later grades you can take cooking classes for your arts requirement.

If you made some cookies from the show they would have nothing to say but, "Can I have some?"

  • @lovedapudding Me too. I'm twelve and love to cook, I just don't tell anyone. And Alton Brown is my favorite cooking star. :D

  • @lovedapudding Believe me, when you're grown up, and you can cook...well, it helps if you're trying to impress someone. It'll pay off! :-)

  • Aha! there are special requirements!

I bet you would not like to ear Grade A large Echedna eggs!

    AHA!

  • I once had to mime pate a choux for a game of charades. So I took off my shoe and patted it like a dog. Nobody got it. XP

  • @zhanus lololololololololol

  • @zhanus What kind of messed-up game of charades has clues like "pate a choux"? That's kind of like expecting someone to draw dignity in Pictionary.

  • @zhanus

I just read this - and got it - giggle snicker snort. thanks.

  • I could smell the chocolate on the eclairs when they showed it D:, how the heck did they do it!

  • You have been blessed with a talent to smell the Food Network food. Use this power wisely.

  • choux means cabbage in french i don't see how it relates o_O

  • a cabbage grows quickly and takes up a lot of space, so does pate a choux

  • It is because when you are stirring the dough, at first it seems to have great big leaves of dough before it comes together. In addition when used for profiteroles, it grows a large bloom head.

  • can we use all purpose flour?

  • you can use normal flour if you want, but it won't puff up as much and wont hollow out as much as bread flour.

  • thankss

  • if you don't bread flower,just use AP(works fine).

  • can plain flour be used instead of bread flour?

  • A steam engine? When I went there all they had was a diesel engine to pull the train.

  • Choux on your shoe... HA HA HA.. :|

  • All his pastries are mini, his donuts are tiny so is his cupcakes

  • if you dont like it, dont watch it

  • hes such a good fake laugher! (3:50-3:56)

    i love alton brown!

  • 1 cup water

    3/4 stick butter (6 tablespoons)

    1 tablespoon sugar

    1/8 teaspoon salt

    1 cup flour

1 cup eggs, about 4 large eggs and 2 whites

    Vegetable oil, for frying

    Powdered sugar, for topping

  • thank you ihongg

  • Thanks for the vid, I just wish the sound quality were better. It's very scratchy, which could be reduced if it weren't so quiet. I have to keep the volume all the way up to hear everything

  • U RULE likethehat. i think ure doing great on these videos. alton is KING of all the cook geeks. all hail alton! LOl

  • I love to make cream puffs, but whenever I do, they never turn out right! I wish I had the recipe for the dough from PERKIN'S! Now THAT is good!! :D

  • 1 and 1/2 cup milk

1 and 1/2 cup bread flour

    3/4ths cup butter

    6 eggs

    1/2 tsp salt

    1/2 tsp sugar *sweet application*

    So easy!

  • poor w. she must have either been nervous about her weight or she just hates alton.

  • lol im going to throw up.... on u

  • Could someone supply an approximate volume for 5 3/4 ounces of flour?

My scale is on the fritz.

  • When I used flour the other day, it had a conversion right on the bag. From what I calculated, 1 oz of flour was about 1/4 cup.

  • the problem is that since flour can be piled lightly, or packed tightly, measuring by volume can be very inaccurate. You can fill a container with flour, then push on it a little, and the container will suddenly be only 80% full

  • W is going to kill him someday..

  • god, i love youtube.

just typed in good eats and found the recipe i was looking for.

  • ALTON! "Choux" in french means "cabbage". "Chausseur" is "shoe".

  • how much flour and butter plzzzzzzz someone tell me

  • Does it HAVE to be vanilla pudding, cuz I like chocolate more...

  • no half the point of good eats is you can substitute whatever you want

  • I used chocolate pudding in my éclairs once... although Alton said use 3/4 of the liquid the package requires... DON'T follow that advice when using chocolate pudding, it's thicker and heavier than vanilla. Use all the liquid required in the chocolate pudding... I almost broke the bag trying to squeeze out the chocolate.

  • I have little to zero cooking experience... for a group that I'm part of at my college campus, we had a Christmas party... I made chocolate éclairs and they turned out awesome! I did everything exactly as Alton said.

  • what does funnel cake taste like

  • Funnel cake tastes like awesome.

Ok, it's similar in a lot of ways to a regular donut but takes on a slightly different flavor and consistency because of being fried.

  • A donut is also fried... :S

  • donuts are fried too. its just that funnel cakes are cooked until more crispy.

  • Funnel Cake tastes like awesome, smothered in heaven!

  • It tastes a lot like a donut, but it's a little denser, and the outside is more crispy.

Next time you're at a fair or whatever, get one. They're delicious, even if they have enough sugar (when you add toppings) to give an elephant diabetes.

  • This settles it--- Chocolate Eclairs for dinner tonight! :D

Oh, I just love Alton! *Swoon* *Drool*

  • Choux on you shoes! lol

  • yum chocolate eclairs

  • Funnel cake!

  • Thanks Alot!! 5 stars as usual, keep them coming

  • The heat between between Alton and W could power a train.

  • Is it weird that since I'm vegan I can't eat most anything he makes but I still watch the show?

  • you say that as if you are forced to be vegan

  • loneranger16 ,no i think its cool , you know mebbe you cant participate on the iother shows but most of these baking shows and candy shows i think you can , im no expert not even vegan anymore however when i was with my ex ,Vegan cookies were always a regular treat for us , im sure you can probably find some vegan freindly ingredients for baking

  • @loneranger16 lol, i'm the same ^^
