Torstein held his grab and even switched it up the whole time and stomped the landing clean. Everything was smooth with it. No reverts and a difficult trick. Also pipe is way harder for double corks then slopestyle so triples won't be there for a while. And Shaun White hasn't practiced slope for 2 years thats why he's not good anymore otherwise before he started only practicing pipe he dominated slopestyle at x-games.

The Double Corc has blown up because of Travis Rice. Granted Torstein's trick was much more difficult, but the fact is that Travis was throwing this trick before everyone else and bigger than anyone else can. I'm not hating im just saying that while spins are dope and difficult, the amount of awareness and balls it takes to throw a Double Corc beats a Switch Backside 1260 IMO.
BACKSIDE, off his TOE edge, which all combine to make the most akward feeling one could come up with and the hardest way to spin. And oh yah he did a 1260 too.

Also pipe is way harder for double corks then slopestyle so triples won't be there for a while. And Shaun White hasn't practiced slope for 2 years thats why he's not good anymore otherwise before he started only practicing pipe he dominated slopestyle at x-games.

Luckily for Torstein, most riders and anyone who knows more than a decent amount of snowboard recognize this bullshit system, and can walk away with their hundreds of thousands of dollars not TOO bummed out.
The X-Games in general are a huge bullshit scheme aimed entirely at the benefit of sponsors, not the sports (especially snowboarding). It's sad to see the direction of snowboarding going this way - it should be about progression and having fun, not about cooperate profits.

But if it were all about winning a medal, you would see a ton of riders acting like Simon Dumont did the past weekend - walking off the mountain with his head down not even congratulating the other winners. Don't get me wrong, he's an awesome rider, but he needs to loosen up a bit.

while the description here is entirely right from a technical aspect, we have to look at what the x-games are all about - profits. It's not about fair judging, who votes, who pulled better tricks, or any of that. The X-Games are PURELY a money-making endeavor, aimed at benefiting the sponsors and viewers. That being said, text voting would make sense - it gives sponsors a great idea about who fans are rooting for the most, and therefore can put more marketing into Rice, as opposed to Horgmo

The Double Corc has blown up because of Travis Rice. Granted Torstein's trick was much more difficult, but the fact is that Travis was throwing this trick before everyone else and bigger than anyone else can. I'm not hating im just saying that while spins are dope and difficult, the amount of awareness and balls it takes to throw a Double Corc beats a Switch Backside 1260 IMO.

Viewers who arent familiar with snowboarding cant see that, and even if they did they probably wouldnt understand. Horgmo is going to be around for along time, and he'll have won many medals when its all over.

Torstein's trick was more difficult in my books. If ur not an avid boarder you might not understand the difficulty of a switch backside spin. Though Travis does something that looks insane and no one ever does it, he sketched out the landing. It would be interesting to see this contest judged somewhere in Europe, like Norway, or Germany. Although this was a year ago now Torstein was robbed. If you look at most snowboarding videos this year the double rodeo 10's seem to of become pretty standard whilst the switch back 12 is far more elusive. So i think we can all agree that Torstein pulled the better technical spin.
However both riders knew that the x-games were going to be judged by Yanks, the majority of which probably don't even snowboard, so Rice went for the showy trick which paid off. Tbh public vote was a horrible idea

Im american and support trav and torstein equally. From my Bias of snowboarding for 9 years...Any spin that is switch backside is super super hard. Rodeos feel more natural. Allthough, i cannont do switch back 12's or doubble rodeo 10's. I must say that torsteins trick is harder, and not easily comfortable to pull off

I can spin at least a 540 frontside, backside, and switch frontside. But switch backside is fucking hard and awkward due to the mechanics. I can rarely land a clean switch back 3. And ive been spining switch for a few years. A normal stanced rodeo 5 on its own can be very comfortable when taken off well because the mechanics are not lopsided with your muscles. Allthough im not at trav's or torsteins degree of riding. I understand the motion

I don't know the first two riders(and neither does anyone else) but eero ettala has NEVER done this trick in competition, and Andreas Wiig has NEVER done this trick at all. We are not talking about the different variations of double corked 10s, we are TALKING ABOUT THIS EXACT SWITCH DOUBLE BACK RODEO IN THE CLIP THAT TRAV HAS MADE FAMOUS, and won him a gazillion contests(Nokia Air & Style, US Open Slopestyle, Icer Air, etc) Name just ONE if you can.
