But it has some Nazi like hints:

"Gib mir deine Hand, deine weiße Hand" means "give me your hand, ur white one" which is clearly a discrimination against the blacks.

"Denn wir fahren gegen Engeland" means "Goodbye and live on, my sweetheart" and "we are leaving against england" so it is kinda the warlike thinking of them.

i'm from austria ; i speak german as main language and i can tell that gläser and engeland is right. we say "England" but in this song it has to do with "Angel" = Engel. it is also better so sing as "england"

I'm not absolutely sure myself, as I'm gonna study Mathematics and not Germanistic, but I have 2 theories about the use of the word "Engeland".

First of all: The correct translation would be "We sail towards England."

Now, the thing is, England in German is written as England aswell.

The different spelling here could be because:

a) In the 19th century one could also use Engeland instead of England.

b) A pun on the words England and Engel(engl. Angel).

Take the German national anthem as an example, the "Deutschlandlied".

The music was written 1797, the lyrics 1841.

It was chosen as the national anthem 1922 and since 1952, the first two stanzas are forbidden to be sung, as they were misinterpreted by the NS. (Well... the first Stanza starts with "Deutschland über alles" Germany above all)
