@reichelbrenner well, my cup is small enough that exact thing doesn't normally happen, but it sounds like your polish is starting to dry - you either have to work faster or find colors that dry slower =)

This Is A Really Awesome Tecnique.. Is That How You Spell It? Haha I Dunno.. But Anyways.. I Havent Tried It Yet.. But I Have One Question.. I HATE Painting My Fingernails.. Is There Anyway To Do This On Your Toes..??? PLEASE REPLY!
@Oreobun3900 it is possible on your toes although I haven't tried it myself - the people who have say it's easier with someone to help you position & dip your toes =)
@SimpleLittlePleasues Thanks!.. I Saw A Video Of Someone Doing It On Tere Toes.. And You Just Dip Your Toe In And... Well Basically You Do Just Like Your Fingers..;)
How long do you usually leave the water for it to become room temperature? I usually use a little bit warmer water and I can only put 3 drops of color in and it's already dry! If u had any advice I would really appreciate it. Thank you!!!
@GyMnAsTnAiLs our brita pitcher is always on the counter so I don't really need to wait - usually only cold water makes polish dry faster, it may just be the colors you're using - it can take a lot of trial & error to find the ones best for marbling =)
THANK YOU SO MUCH I FINALLY MANAGED TO DO WATER MARBLE AND ITS THANKS TO YOU !!!!! I M SOOOO HAPPY, the design is not really precise yet, its like lots of different waves of colour but it doesnt matter because it finally worked ! (i had already posted a comment saying that it didnt, and asking for help ) so thank you so much for showing this technic to us , now i just keep on watching my nails and smiling and wanting to have more fingers to try other colors LOL THANKS AGAIN
@mrsbieber55535 every polish dries at a different speed & those that dry fast just aren't very good for marbling - if you can't work any quicker then you have to find colors that dry slower =) Also make sure there's not a fan or anything creating a draft on the water as that can make the polish dry faster
I tried this without having a base on my nails and it looked pretty cool... but the blue iguana and 108 degrees polish soaked into my nail and won't go away with nail polish remover... now i have my natural nails with a blue spiral on them...

thats amazingg!!! i just have a question for you. whenever i tried doing that, the outter edge of bullseye got thick, and it messed all up. i only did two drops for each color.
hello again Colette, hope u r doing well...i've got a ques. Can the water marble be done on toes? I tried it once and ummm lets just say that it was a definite no.... lol
I love all your videos you are very talented!:) i have a question, do you put all your nails in at once or one at a time? Plz reply A.S.A.P!:) THANKS SO MUCH COLLLLEETTTEEE!:)
@heartgoestodrizzy I don't usually recommend more than 2 or 3 at once - just be sure they hit the surface of the water & the design at the same time =)
@addie201 There really isn't a best brand, every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well – the colors I use are always listed in the information box. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)
I love your videos and try to do them but every time i put one color in, it dries completely before I can add a second color. There is a dry layer at the top before I can even draw a pattern! Can you help me figure out what's going wrong?
@cicipickens every polish dries at a different speed & those that dry fast just aren't very good for marbling - if you can't work any quicker then you have to find colors that dry slower =) Also make sure there's not a fan or anything creating a draft on the water as that can make the polish dry faster

i always have a problem with water bubbles marking my polish. how do you do it without getting bubbles? i tried fast, slow, shaking my finger before pulling it out of the water.......but i still get bubbles. can you help me?
@stateofdisorder1977 My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)
This its so pretty. I have had so much trouble with the marbling. I love your tutorials because all the others are just so messy where as you have actual patterns. I do have a question, can you water marble with any brands of polish?
Thanks for the reply Colette. I'm using 5 oz Dixie brand drinking cups. I've tried cutting it down to 1/2 height thinking it would help but it didn't. It's the strangest thing. I also use fresh water for each nail cuz no matter what I try I can't get all the polish floaties out.
@Annabettin hmm, that is definitely strange, the only other thing I can think of is to kind of pull the polish over the the side after a few or after you're all done, to get it to cover the whole surface - similar to when I anchor the design to keep it from moving but a little more extrenme =)
@cutesttanu I do tutorials for most of my freehand designs, but I just don't do it that often, if my nails aren't marbled I usually just use Konad or have a plain mani =)
Nice job even with bubble or smudge. The design and colors hide flaws well! I fail at water marble lol need more patience and practice I guess :). You nails and hands are very pretty
YAY! I have all these polishes. My problem is when I drop the polish dead center of cup it spreads to a side, not covering the surface. I get a cross-eyed not a bullseye. LOL Tried all kinds & temps of H20 & made sure table was level. Happens every time even w/fresh water. Any ideas to help a big fan??
I tried to water marble this week, but failed miserably and I'm not sure why...I used room temp bottled water and Orly polishes, but when I went to make the lines with the orange stick, the polish just got thick & bunched up which ruined the bullseye. Any idea why that would happen?
@xCrazyNails make sure there's not a fan or anything creating a draft on the water as that can make the polish dry faster, other than that it's all trial & error to find the colors that work best =)
i have a huge problem.. when i dip my finger in and get it out i have my design ruined and mixed up in a new colour..how to avoid that?? And can i have only bottled water?? and when i drop second colour in the first one itwont spread at all!
@piessMAN96 I think it sounds like you are using a little too much polish - try using a few less drops. The layer in the water should be very thin & should look the same on your nail as in the cup. Bottled should be fine as long as there are not additves. sometimes even colors that each spread on their own don't work well together - you just have to keep trying different colors & different combinations =)
@nanna88100 My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)
I tried the water marble, I didn't use the exact same polish as you, and some of the drops like sank to the bottom or didn't spread at all, does the type of polish matter? Thanks :)
@lairgrl101 you can use any brand, but not every color works - Some polish sinks because it’s too dense, other times it is from dripping it from too high up, try to stay close to the surface of the water =) also be sure to use filtered water
Wowie! You have gorgeous nails! And you are amazing at coming up with designs and how they should go together! Oh and how do you get you nails so long??
@MissAngelface400 I try to keep my nails moisturized, lots of lotion & cuticle oil & I also take a biotin supplement – you can check out my Nail Maintenance vid in the Tips & Trick playlist for my full routine. I do occasionally get a tear or break but you can check out my tutorial on silk wrap patching for how I save those nails =) I do "Naked Nails" posts on my blog every month or so where I talk more about like all the specific products I'm currently using.
@meggosta not really - There really isn't a best brand, every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)
@libbythegymnast sometimes even colors that each spread on their own don't work well together - you just have to keep trying different colors & different combinations =)
@KTYells Are you using filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)
I tried a water marbling with bottled water.Heard it works ok but it didn't for me.Was using several brands of polish and it wasn't really spreading and was a all a clump when I tried to drag a design :( Don't know if it was the bottled water or the polishes...uggghhh
Thanks for showing how you test a design, I've seen others use acrylic nails but didn't want to buy those just to test designs. Now I can sit and watch your tips whilst testing out my polishes and what designs they will work with. Thank you!
@sweetpeppermind Are you using filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)
Ive been trying for months to get my nails to come out like yours but i can never perferct it! I dont know if im doing it wrong, but every time i pull my nail out the have a TON of polish on it. Then while im waiting for them to dry the polish like slides of because its so wet still. Ive looked at your tips and tried the different brands, water temp., water type, and orange sticks but they never work. Help?
@Katlynrose123 I think it sounds like you are using a little too much polish - try using a few less drops. The layer in the water should be very thin & shouldn't have a problem sticking to your nail as long as you are using a base color =)
@ashy13241 suuucks D; i had that issue with one of mine. i'd try to put another drop of colour onto it and it would just sit there, so i'd poke it and the whole thing would collapse. LOL. epic fail xD

@lairgrl101 you can use any brand, but not every color works - Some polish sinks because it’s too dense, other times it is from dripping it from too high up, try to stay close to the surface of the water =) also be sure to use filtered water
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
@SimpleLittlePleasues I tried it again dropping it lower down and it worked great, my nails look awesome thanks! :D
lairgrl101 7 months ago
Do you have to let the nail polish dry like normal or does it dry faster doing water marble?
lexiloveskayley 7 months ago
@lexiloveskayley It’s mostly dry within a few minutes, then I use a quick-drying top coat =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
@SimpleLittlePleasues Thank you, I will definately try this out(:

How do I do it so the nail polish won't come out thick?
mamichulis83 7 months ago
@mamichulis83 if the polish is thick you can use polish thinner - if the design is thick, just use fewer drops =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
Will it work on fake nails too?
mamichulis83 7 months ago
@mamichulis83 it should work fine =)

Wowie! You have gorgeous nails! And you are amazing at coming up with designs and how they should go together! Oh and how do you get you nails so long??
MissAngelface400 7 months ago
@MissAngelface400 I try to keep my nails moisturized, lots of lotion & cuticle oil & I also take a biotin supplement – you can check out my Nail Maintenance vid in the Tips & Trick playlist for my full routine. I do occasionally get a tear or break but you can check out my tutorial on silk wrap patching for how I save those nails =) I do "Naked Nails" posts on my blog every month or so where I talk more about like all the specific products I'm currently using.

i love ur nails but ive tried this with tap and bottled water but my nail ploish wont spread out like urs does any help?
italychic148 8 months ago
@italychic148 make sure the bottled water has no additives - other than that it's all trial & error to find the colors that work best =)

That is prettty.

do china glaze polishes work best?? ;)
meggosta 8 months ago
@meggosta not really - There really isn't a best brand, every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 7 months ago
Could You Use Nail Polish Thinner To Thin It Out?
TheMusicGurlz 8 months ago
@TheMusicGurlz yes, you can use thinner on any polish =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 8 months ago
Why don't my nailpolish drops spread after the first drop?
libbythegymnast 8 months ago
@libbythegymnast sometimes even colors that each spread on their own don't work well together - you just have to keep trying different colors & different combinations =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 8 months ago
what was your starting base color ?

how often do you redo your nails??
Michele1411xx 8 months ago
@Michele1411xx 3-4 times a week =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 8 months ago
I tried a water marbling with bottled water.Heard it works ok but it didn't for me.Was using several brands of polish and it wasn't really spreading and was a all a clump when I tried to drag a design :( Don't know if it was the bottled water or the polishes...uggghhh
lalahdastylist 8 months ago
@lalahdastylist check to be sure the bottled didn't have any additives - that can affect the polish spreading =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 8 months ago
Should the water be room temp??? Also this is amazing Ive never heard of it before!

@ohmygodgasp yes, room temp filtered water =)

Thanks for showing how you test a design, I've seen others use acrylic nails but didn't want to buy those just to test designs. Now I can sit and watch your tips whilst testing out my polishes and what designs they will work with. Thank you!

This is so cool ! I wish I could do that ; but my nail polish doesnt "run" through the water as it does in your videos ! :(

Help?
Katlynrose123 8 months ago
@Katlynrose123 I think it sounds like you are using a little too much polish - try using a few less drops. The layer in the water should be very thin & shouldn't have a problem sticking to your nail as long as you are using a base color =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 8 months ago
@SimpleLittlePleasues Thanks! I'll try it later and let you know!

ashy13241 8 months ago
@ashy13241 I honestly don't think I'll have time by then, especially since I'm trying to fit in a design or 2 for the 4th =)
SimpleLittlePleasues 8 months ago
@ashy13241 i'm trying to do that too! i went out and bought some yesterday, just a plain white, a plain red, and then a shimmery red. :)

ashy13241 8 months ago
@ashy13241 sad D; splurge splurge splurge! LOL. it's what i did. :3
SionAndOllie 8 months ago
@SionAndOllie :P mine dries to fast. It dries like the second it hits the water so it doesnt have time to spread. >.<
ashy13241 8 months ago
@ashy13241 suuucks D; i had that issue with one of mine. i'd try to put another drop of colour onto it and it would just sit there, so i'd poke it and the whole thing would collapse. LOL. epic fail xD

@SionAndOllie Lol. Thats basically the same thing happened to me. And that was my GOOD nailpolish to. D: Guess its not so good afterall
