Never cared for this band or their songs -- maybe because I was too old to appreciate them by that time. But, when this song -- Foolish Heart -- started playing I just smiled in disbelief. This is one great melody and arrangement. If this was their only claim to fame they deserve the applause and I will give it to them. Love that little sentence at the end too as they faded. Clever.

though never proven, being a big surfer, i always believed that this song is coded for surfers... the "walls come crashing" are the high waves, and if you look at the lyrics, it's kinda lends itself to the love of night surfing, and as for the last sentence, with the 'gun' reference, in our surfie slang, "gun" is an old wooden longboard :) so yeah, it's my surfer anthem :) and like you, i smile when i hear it. i don't live near where the waves are ample for surfing and i miss it.
